  1. Thanks for those Dan, they are a great help ..
  2. The rust texture on the tank sure looks real. It takes real talent to get the different rust colors to blend. And you did that perfectly, Dan. Looking forward to the Chevy build too. Got lots to keep you out of mischief now !🤭🤣
  3. Wow , Scott. Thats incredible ! You have nailed that. It looks so real. Even to the tie downs. Just excellent. Take a bow
  4. Another excellent tutorial. ! And an engineering class. Thanks Brian.
  5. Wow , Steve. Fantastic scratch building. That is going to look fabulous under a splash of good old Cat yellow
  6. What a cool sharp build , Ron. Great photos. A great job, looks the part perfectly.
  7. That looks like big muscle. Very cool build. Awesome job.
  8. JM…… your designing looks spot on , you certainly have that skill nailed down . Just looking at the cab , climbing in and getting out must’ve been a precise movement. And those old school cans were sure narrow. Must’ve been a tight fit for some 🤭😆 I hope you get the info you are looking for Bud.
  9. This is so cool. Great attention to the details I really like this
  10. Gary, I know it is probably too late for this idea...... on our Western Stars we had the same sort of issue with the step being high on the drivers side, and Western Star put another lower step on a rubber strap below the main fixed one, it was much easier to get into the truck, until one of the guys tore it off that is.. could you leave the higher step on the battery box and just add a lower step to line up with the one on the fuel tanks? Just a random thought.....
  11. Man…….. this is such good stuff … fabulous tutorial on fabrication.
  12. You’re welcome, Dan. Actually I had you in mind when I posted this as it is not a huge thing but it is a ‘niggly’ thing that could be a bit frustrating. Its a great kit but has a couple of things that needs to be watched.
  13. So another little update. This is the little things that burns up time at the bench, which is good because it is good time at the bench. This is just a visual to ‘instructions are just someone else’s opinion’. Again for a young modeller may do this as the instructions show which is ok but. ……. As in most interpretations of the instructions things may need adjustment. Case in point are the hydraulic filters mounted on the rear transmission cross member. As can be seen on the paper work the filter brackets need to be off set. So being the good trusting modeller I am, I did install them as indicated. Went to fit them today and found the off set is still WAY too close and the fitment just wasn’t to par. So I cut ( gently ) the brackets of and repositioned them so the offset is much greater and when the lines are connected there will be room to hook them up. By turning and repositioning the brackets the connections will be a breeze and they will look better than being on top of one another. Like I said, nothing big, just some tome spent at the bench.
  14. Wow. This turned out really sweet ! The color combo is perfect. What color is the cab? Yes , gold 🤭but what paint did you use? It layed down perfectly and is the perfect color along with the red frame. I have a set of those stripes and never thought they looked very good until now. They look absolutely perfect with the gold and brown fenders. I notice the front rims as well. Did you use rims from the snap kit as they are good looking Alcoa style. End result is just wonderful. Good job !
  15. No worries , boys. All and any information is good. I have little expertise or anything of value to add, and all the freely given info and opinions help me too. Its all good. No highjacks here. Information is gold
  16. No worries Bren. Its about sharing the good stuff that helps all. I appreciate you sharing your expertise.
  17. Sanding can be a bit of a test but I scrape gently with a sharp xacto knife and that seems to clean up with little bit is needed. I haven't had much to clean actually. Just usually the support structures. Easy peasy.
  18. I totally agree , Bren and those are like little jewels. They are perfect for heavy off road. Thanks again
  19. Thanks Dan. I will look at that closely. I appreciate this
  20. Thanks Dan , I never thought of that. I check the heavy equipment ads. And hey, if you need any pics let me know. I will share what I have with you. I don’t have very many but you’re welcome to what I do have.
  21. Thanks. Not a lot of action lately and I totally agree. They are really sweet. Also could be used for old school trucks and off road logging trucks. They are beauties.
  22. Thanks Brian. It sure is a challenge. I think the information is out there, I just need to narrow it down and get my finger on it.
  23. Brian, your engineering and fabrication skills are off the clock. So interesting to watch and follow your methodical line of thinking and fabricating. Incredible skill set. You are nailing this one down perfectly.
