  1. Heavy flat steel.....
  2. Wonder if someone knows the “ whole story “ on this missing piece ? It would be interesting to find out…..
  3. Thanks for that , Steve …. I really wonder sometimes but on my mind it is the small details that are subtle that makes a change …. I appreciate your thoughts on this. I shall continue…
  4. Thanks , Jeff ….. they may not even show, but the possibility they ‘might’ and even if they don’t …. It was a fun couple hours at the bench. Not sure why I even do this stuff as this will just sit on the shelf gathering dust and I will probably never lift the hood ……🤔🤔
  5. Funny you say that. …. I VERY near decided to do a wrecker on this one. I have the KFS Holmes 750 resin wrecker conversion…… it was real close, but ……. i do have another Star with that European Wrecker body that I will never use, so that one is slated for the Holmes conversion…… it was a close call Scott …..
  6. I fixed the head bolt on the right bank that wasn’t sitting correct , it is now in place properly.
  7. Thanks Brian, I do believe its the little details sometimes that count.
  8. I spent a whole bunch of hours at the bench today and it doesn’t look like I got much done ….. I added head bolts, air compressor bolts, and oil filter bracket bolts. I put a pic of before and after on the head bolts. I think there is a difference but maybe not so visible under paint but they are there.
  9. Boy, you sure got that right !
  10. That engine is like a jewel there.... sure is looking good, so far..... it will only get better from here..... I can't wait....
  11. We're all here because we're not all there??
  12. For me, it’s a short drive, Steve ! 🤭😋
  13. it will look better under paint.....
  14. I’m in the ‘jump seat’ for this one, Lee. This is going to be good !
  15. So as I slowly start cutting ‘yellow’ plastic , I notice there is a fair bit of molded details. And again , this is a very old kit, and for the day it was cutting edge, and I think in this case and the other re-issue Ertl kits we sometimes forget they are old designs. So with that said, I looked closely at some of the details and there is an alternator molded in but has some detail and has an adjusting bracket. So a little tiny detail that can be added are those wonderful Meng bolts. A very small thing, but under a splash of paint and a dab of weathering changes the whole thing … so I added a couple nuts and bolts as on the real deal, I have also added big bolts for the engine mounts on the frame. Very small but can change the looks
  16. Makes me wonder where all the information and tools have been stored over the years. Hope it was ‘t destroyed …
  17. He needs to show us a few … I would love to see some of his work
  18. Bill knows what he’s talking about , and in more ways than one.
  19. Thanks Steve. I missed that description on the box 🤭🤣, so armed with that information , I plan to prime it and paint it yellow 🙄……. I know. 🫣🫣….
  20. Nice clean build ….. all the different shades of blue tie very nicely together and makes it an eye catching scheme, a very good looking tractor , Lee
  21. There should be a ‘nervous, sweating ‘ icon !! Great save Gary and a great catch Brian !!
  22. Yes, that's the one ! I remember as a kid , just drooling over that possibility..... oh for sure, I'm sure there is no chance we will ever see it, BUT if there are moulds for it, and enough of us ask , cry and cajole, who knows? LOL! I will check out the video.. thanks... the catalog pic brought back some memories for sure...
  23. I was sure you knew of course, I just found in my particular case , that usually when I use the saw blade I seem to lose control a little bit and make a lousy cut. Quite clearly I need more practise and to pay closer attention. I know your cut will work perfectly , I’m looking forward to seeing it. I hope to learn how to do it properly as my way sucks sometimes ..
