  1. I cut an inner fender of sorts. Followed the inside of the wheel well and then by trial and more error got this to work. Took a little fiddling though
  2. Brenton, this is an old kit for sure, and certainly does have some challenges, but that is modelling.. to me anyway.... I have built about 15 of these over the years, and it can turn out to be a real nice model... my best advice, is to take good care in getting started, keep the frame dead straight and take your time on that part, it is a good foundation, I made sure I really cleaned the cross members and the corresponding places on the frame where they sit, and used a small square to make sure they were all straight and true , and I used a heavy block to hold the frame rails as I glued them and I did one or two at a time and gradually worked my way from front to back.... it is also lacking the inner fenders on the hood, which when added makes quite a difference in the lower look so to speak...... I will be watching what you do as I am sure I will pick up some good tips from you with your skill set...., I am always looking for the new things....
  3. All this exquisite detailing MUST be done under a microscope, this is just mind blowing. Absolutely dead accurate.
  4. Exactly as they are. Your attention to detail is phenomenal !
  5. Oh I hear that. Some days I’m as shakey as an old dog pooping razorblades !
  6. Brian , along with your incredible scratch building skills, your painting skills are off the clock ! Those dump box air valves and guides are perfectly painted. They look absolutely like the real ones. Your painting of the finest details is a skill few have. I have no idea how you get all this so perfectly done. Just fabulous !
  7. thanks , boys... the manifolds are just the color, 'oily steel', and it was brush painted ... thanks Gary...
  8. While waiting for bits to ‘dry’ on the Ford Oil Distributor , I dug out some detailing decals and ‘gussied ‘ up the engine a little bit , which when under a splash of grime should , hopefully, add a lite more eye appeal ….its not a lot and maybe a few more here and there but it does add a little more small detail
  9. That turned out really well, Ron , I love the look and the concept. Did you print the transformer load? That is pretty sharp too. Top job bud. Absolutely nailed the look. !! I love it
  10. Excellently said, Ron, you hit the nail on the head.
  11. The stack load looks great ! And stretched out , holy thats crazy long. What a super cool build. I’m lovin where this is going.
  12. Gee. Thanks Ron. Yea the collaboration between Bren and Jurgen is fabulous. Jurgen is a master designer and Bren’s printing prowess is awesome. I’m hoping to do this justice after all their hard work. I totally agree that the C series was a venerable workhorse in MANY applications. Homely as the day is long but it did the job and keeps doing the job. They did make a smart tandem. Very interesting you worked with these. My experience with paving was with the trucks and pups hauling hot mix to the paver. I thought this idea was good for making this model truck something just a little different, and thanks to Bren and Jurgen , I’m on the way. And, Ron, be sure to weigh in any time you want as the comments and stories are more than welcome.
  13. I love these old B series . I wonder how many of the new young truck drivers know what an ‘oil bath’ air cleaner is? They were just being phased out when I started driving. Oh, the good old days. Love this build. It is going to be a beauty.
  14. A small update. I added the air tanks and to the tanks I added a fee of Bren’s fabulous fittings. And I also made a two speed and got it installed and ready for wiring.
  15. Thanks Steve. I have had them quite a while , but I think they were pre wired distributors from Model Car Garage. I need to look and get some more. They had various colors too
  16. Thanks Brian.... now I have to make a two speed for the rear end.... always something eh?? 😉
  17. A little more progress. I was wanting to change out the crummy wedge brake chambers to the optional ( at the time ) S Cam style as we have mostly today. i fiddled with scratch made brackets and with some resin brake chambers with brackets but I was fouled by the style of rear end in this truck. The crown housing is off to one side and leaves very little room for a bracket of any sort. So I decided that I had to go back to wedge brakes but I changed out the minute little pots to something a little more realistic. So I have a spring brake chamber on the drive axle and just a service pot on the steering axle. When plumbed and painted it should do the trick nicely. This exercise took more time than I had planned but it is now in hand
  18. Coming from you , Brian that is a wonderful comment. Thank you very much. Thoughts and comments like that keep me striving for a better result next time. Cheers
  19. That is really cool. You could load the jeeps on the trailer like they do here when they are done with the haul and going back to the barn. We see that all the time. This is a very cool trailer, Ron.
  20. Thanks Brian. I didn’t do a whole lot of super detailing but it will look the part once installed. Still a little more to add to it though. Thanks for checking in. More progress to follow …
  21. Here is another small update. Just more to let you know I am actually chipping away at this. Started out as a ‘quick build’ and not to get too bogged down. I did a little frame work and added bolts in the appropriate places and installed the fuel tanks with the weld seams and fuel fittings. I also did a little ‘fiddling’ with the engine. I was thinking of changing the engine to a diesel but that would have entailed a little more engineering and fabrication that I was prepared to take on. The gas engine is no where near perfect but it looks ‘busy’ and for where it is going sit it will work fine. Lots of measuring and figuring but I do think I will leave this as a single axle, mostly as Bren was nice enough to make me a shorter tank that would be fine for a S/A. Now the next decision is to keep the wedge brakes or go to ‘S’ cams🤔🤔
