Thanks . . . appreciate the kind compliments! I’ve been using wheels & tires from discarded die-casts for a while. IMO, a set of nice aftermarket resin or 3-D print wheels is costly when you can sometimes buy a whole car for fraction of that and the die-casts offer some unique designs that aren’t available elsewhere. Glad you guys like the look.

Thank you Tom. I think the MPC promo body was re-released at least once in a Model King funny car but it'd be nice to see Round 2 reissue the full stock kit.

Thanks Trevor. You're right, getting the roof pried up to stock height again was a real chore. The styrene “memory” kept trying to force the top back down and bow the new pillars out. Finally reinforced them with brass rod and called it done. If you look at the roofline closely, it’s still just slightly lower than stock in the front – sort of a very subtle angle-chop appearance . . . which I decided was okay and I ended the struggle. I’ll never tackle anything like that again but I’m glad you appreciate the work.

That old Aurora kit was a pretty decent model, especially for its time. Happy to give yours a double thumbs-up. ?? The detail, finish and overall quality is excellent as well as the color (inside and out) being a terrific choice. Stellar job all around! Love the DB4 and I have the Monogram release I built in the 70’s on my bench for an upcoming refurbishing. I only hope mine comes out half as nicely as yours.

Old build -- completed back in 2013 -- this curbside ’69 GTO is a rescued MPC 1/25 promo that must have suffered as a child's toy. It came with a completely flattened roof (a-pillars gone plus split/cracked c-pillar corners) missing windshield, dash, steering wheel, etc., body gouged and scratched all over. Luckily the kids were apparently too young to have played with fire. LOL But . . . it was the first model car project I'd done in almost 20 years and the rebuild got me restarted in the hobby — something I've been doing ever since. · Model Master "Go Mango" with Dupli-Color clear; polished. BMF trim. · Dashboard (modified), a-pillars, windows & complete chassis – all from an AMT 69 Chevelle · Seats - spares bin (origin unknown). Interior colors: Tamiya matte gray & black · Shaved door handles and molded-on trim · Rear spoiler - (modified) Monogram 1/24 GTO · Decals – homemade; inkjet printed · Disc Brakes – Pegasus. · Wheels & Tires - Diecast Nissan 350Z Thanks for looking! Terrific thread idea . . . Love seeing the variety of styles presented in mock up state. Here’s several projects that hit the workbench but never went any further. Oh well . . . Mine’s pretty simplified but glad you enjoyed taking a look and thanks for the comments. It's you that's been putting out such cool renditions of the Revell snapper, I'm in awe . . . anyway, thanks for the notice. It is a great little kit and after seeing yours, I'll probably try another one soon. Thanks for all the complimentary acknowledgements fellas . . . Much appreciated! Although last year’s builds were few and far between, they were mostly enjoyable and every one of them carries ideas, tips, tricks and BIG inspiration from all of you who participate in the forums. The encouragements are the best bonus!

Only 3 fully completed projects during 2021 . . . and 2 of those were rescues/rebuilds of models originally constructed back in the 1970’s! There was nearly a fourth completion but the calendar ran out . . . and despite my lack of model building productivity, I certainly wasn’t wishing for last year to go on a minute longer than it did. Anyway, here’s what I got finished: 1932 Ford Phaeton Rod Rebuild Old build that got thoroughly destroyed during an interstate household relocation in 2017. I might have thrown it away but this one had some significance — it was my first attempt at scratch building a chassis and kit-bashing a bunch of leftover pieces into a hot rod, circa 1976. It was also an amusing reflection of my model-building skills of that time, so a rebuild was a necessity. Didn’t restore it exactly identical to the original build, but attempted to update it for a little more believability without losing too much of its originality. Basic details: MPC Switchers body & interior tub, Ford 4-cam Indy V8 from a Testors GT-40 kit, chassis from Evergreen rectangular rod and a typical-for-that-era corduroy ‘upholstered’ interior. Fun resto project, especially recalling how I’d built it all those years ago. Before & after pix. Rebuild 2021 Revell 1957 Chevy Snap kit Intended as a ‘slump-buster’ project ‘tho not completely successful. Testors Extreme Root Beer and Model Master Desert Sand for the colors; BMF for the trim and Pegasus wheels/tires. Simple and fun . . . except for the tedious foiling. Rebuilt Lindberg Jaguar D-Type A refurb of an original build that sat in my “is this salvageable?” box for many years. Superb job of blending two body styles into something really outstanding . . . and the paint scheme only makes it that much better. Excellent creativity and execution! I always thought the Ford / Willys marriage was worth exploring and a couple years ago I tried my hand at a similar mash-up, although backwards from the way you so beautifully accomplished it . . .

You sir have a real knack for creating customs that not only echo those long ago magazine feature and show cars but go so far beyond. All it's missing are the floor spotlights and angel hair! Great work, fabulous interior . . . that is one sweeeet shoebox! -
That is gorgeous! That Chezoom lid is perfection on the Caddy’s curvaceous body . . . and the color. Not enough superlatives to compliment everything. Just, wow!

Superb build of a great model (and one of the most beautiful race cars ever) – the addition of poseable steering makes it even better – very nicely done! One can only regret that we’ll never see Paul Fisher’s great sports car kits again but creations like this are wonderful tributes.

Started this last year as a quickie project but only recently finished. The supposedly simple ones never are, are they? Anyway, it’s another re-build from my ‘70s “ugh” box — A Lindberg curbside, multi-piece body, 1/24 D-Type — which was still somewhat intact although minus the headlight covers and sporting a broken windshield along with some heavy sanding scratches under a wrinkled black paint job. The Dunlop tires are the kit’s originals but the wheels are Asuka (‘Orange’ brand) aftermarket units which sort of resemble the venerable Dunlop racing rims of that era (if you squint). I molded headlight buckets into the fenders and made some new light covers from clear plastic spoons; fabbed up some bonnet latches and straps and made the side-exit exhaust from aluminum tubing. After filling the body seams and re-scribing the panel lines, I restored the sanded-off rivet heads using Archer’s terrific 3-D decals before painting it with a Dupli-Color Chrysler dark green pearl – sort of a contemporary take on classic British Racing Green. I’ve seen a couple of these kitbashed with Revell’s XKSS into some beautifully detailed models. This is NOT one of those. Far from contest caliber but decent enough for my model shelf . . . and way better than my original attempt. Thanks for looking – comments welcome.

Sweet! You've done a top notch job on a demanding kit . . . and, maybe, a bit of inspiration Bought a new Fiero SE when they first came out and, despite all the negative stories, it was a terrific little car – at least mine was -- got almost 140k miles out of it before letting it go. In 1985 I got this same kit and, to this day, I’ve never finished the model – just too fiddly and ill-fitting. But after seeing your splendid model, I’m re-thinking . . .
