I know, that is why I said 'kinda'. I believe you just got the first gen US-Fiesta, and before that it was that Ford/Mazda/Kia compact. But over here we had the fiesta already a long, long time. If you look through the Ford-line, usually the EU and US products differ big, but they now starting with more global-cars, like the new fiesta and the focus.

And I made a small compartment between the boot and the rear-seats, this will hold the gas-tank. Porsche used on this 911 suspension with torque-bars ( I think ) and I am going to replace that with independent double wishbone suspension. -

And another small update, working with finishing details is just soooo slow... I worked some more on the wheel-wells, I am making an insert here, that will fit over the exhaust and makes it possible to close it enough. This picture might show it a little bit better. When having a modelling-event yesterday, I could work some on the back end of the car, I also drew some ideas on the body, like having an air-vent on the side of the cars, this will allow air to escape after it came through the intercoolers. The car also needs a filler-cap on the back-end now The boot will be in 2 parts, the lower part for the battery and the spare-tyre and the top part for luggage. -
I had no problem with mine, as long as you take the usual preparations.

Build your own display cases - part 1

Ok thanks, it puts it a bit more in perspective. I assume the materials will cost more over here (in Europe) but it is still interesting. I am eagerly waiting for part 2. Thanks Jim. -

A small update, work has been slowing down, since it is now fiddling and filling and sanding. In this picture you can see the disassembled engine, and some of the sanding/filling work on the inner fenders. I also glued the firewall in place, this way I can make some modifications to it and hopefully it will fit after the car goes on the chassis later on. fingers crossed. I thickened the lower chassis struts and started on filling and sanding the engine mounts. This is how the firewall looks from the cabin-side, I glued to struts to the firewall in hope it will keep it in the right angle and I can work from that. -

AMT Ecto 1A to be re-released?
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
what are the big differences? I am not interested in the ghostbuster part, just want to build a old ambulance. I had the snap-kit, but gave it to a friend recently, since he is a GB-nut. -
I heard the rumour at the IPMS nationals in The Netherlands that Ecto1 might be released again? Are there more that've heard about it? Or is it a false rumour?

Mine is nothing but a problem, not a few points that don't work....no, everything is warped, impossible to fit etc... I managed last week to get the body on the chassis, apart from being impossible, it is quite frustrating. hehe. But it is very hard to believe you had no problems, since they looked like it was engineered wrong.

Reissue Revell Ag Jaguar XK-E. What scale?

it's 1/25, not a great kit either. It's been long around and screams for new tooling. -

Seen from above, the white square thing will be the car's radiator. I think I just have enough space to add a electrical fan. And so the fun of filling and sanding begins......ugh! -

This is probably the setup I will be using, 2 top-mounted intercoolers, with a oil-cooler in between. I cut the Turbo's in 4 parts, the intake and exhaust part are omitted for now and the slughouse are glued together to see how the tubing needs to go. Instead of going around or over the engine, the turbo tubing is going through the engine, in between the intake manifolds. There is a nice tunnel and I see no reason why not to use those important millimeters. This shows the rideheight I've chosen for the 911, I went for a worse-case scenario and have the car sitting quite low. In this case, I can always let it ride higher if needed for clearance. Making the tubing for the turbo's prove to be a tricky job, I have stopped with it for now. I want to finish the engine, make it definitive and then start on the tubing. I think it will be easier that way I added here the exhaust part, I think the best way is to route them back over the exhausts. It is the only place where I have room for those extreme hot exhausts. -

Thanks guys! Apreciated ! @Jason; I am not sure yet, The nasa-ducts are not my favourite kind of style's. I was thinking a little bit more like a Subaru scoop, but then more eighties. I think. This is I think the last 'rapid' update, since the main 'route' has been chosen and the roughest cuts has been made, time will now be consumed making little details, changes and finish the rough cuts. I already dissassembled the engine, so I can work on making it nice and I also started on the chassis, putting things back together, strengthen it and finish it. I made from an pen a crude mcpherson, this way I can tell how much space there is for the exhausts and how much ground clearance I have. The chassis is seen upside down. It is a little bit better visible in this picture, I don't like the kit parts, so I will be making my own mcphersons. (If the 911 uses them, I'm not sure) This photo shows how much, or actually how little, space there is between the exhausts and the suspension Seen from another angle I also slimmed down the intercoolers, they will be mounted on top of the engine and needs to be thinner in order to fit between the hood and the engine. -

I will cut the bumper open here, but not sure whether to use it for the intercoolers or the airintake. -

This photo shows how far the engine now sits in the interior, I hope it isn't too much and will be looking convincing when I made a tunnel for it. You can tell in this picture that I do now have enough clearance for the hood. The turbo's that will be fitted in the front of the engine, The big question now is where does the exhaust go, where does the intercoolers go and the intake. 2 options for the intercooler, still not sure what would work and look best. Remind you, I also have to make openings in the hood and it needs to be looking convincing. Fortunately I will have some room for the radiator and some tubing in the front of the engine. -

Since I still have the right mood for this build, (and enough courage) I keep working on it. My main target is to get the all the changes basically right. I am not looking for perfect look, that will come after all the changes are correct and work the way I want them too. The biggest hurdle has been taken; the engine does now fit in the engine bay, now I need to fit all the other parts around the engine. I cut the wheel-wells open, it appeared that the engine with the exhausts, was too wide for the narrow enginebay of the Porsche After cutting both sides out, the engine fits in the enginebay, I also reversed the exhausts, instead of going backwards, they now point forwards, this way, I can create some room for the twin turbo's I used the enginemounts from the F40 chassis and crudily glued them to the frame of the Porsche, in a later stage it will be looking better. And a little mock-up, I modified and installed the firewall, and the engine is now hanging in it's mounts. This somewhat definitive mock-up gives me the chance to see where everything will fit and where there will be some more space available. -

Thank you guys for the comments! @Cranky: I have no idea yet what to do with colors, I think it will come to me later on, when I have figured out all the changes. @Casey; Don't worry, I still work on the T/A, but since the front-end is a tricky thing and it needs to be hands-on, I only work on it when I feel to it and in a slow pace. Hoping for the best result ;-) @DJ: I didn't know that, after I read your post, I googled them and it is interesting, however they keep them in the back and I don't think it adds for better handling, maybe it does for drag-races. But they put too much metal behind the rear-wheels. -

The floorpan got cut-out, to give me there some room for the engine as well, I can now place it a little bit lower, I can use every single mm I can find.
