  1. I doubt whether it is the old Imai taxi, looking at parts count, it might be new tooling.
  2. This one got finished too, I had to add a door-mirror since it didn't came with the kit. But even though I went through it quite fast, it was a amusing project.
  3. Revell send me the lenses for the rear-lights and I could finish the car. It is an awesome kit and highly recommendable
  4. The seatbelts got some PE and gives a little bit of detail to the interior. Because of the lack of detail, I dove into the partsbox and got a rear-view mirror and made a dome-light out of a Porsche headlight
  5. The progress on this build goes pretty smooth, no major problems. And it is a fun project. When I put the glass in; it screams for improvement So I made a template, used some medical tape and make a headliner with it In the meantime I airbrushed the engine, or what needs to be called a engine I guess. I airbrushed the headliner flat black and used white glue to glue it into place.
  6. Thank you all guys! I agree that the interior looks better this way. @Rodney; I cut some actual tapegun-tape into a thin slice and taped it over the box, than I cut it open, It does look quite realistic actually. @Monty; It is a simple trick actually, I used a white pencil and stroke over the raised letters, it gives a good look to it I think. @Antonio: I used vallejo model air paint, I masked the tires and shot it through the airbrush, the paint does stick pretty good to the tires and the paint sticks together, so it is like a thin mask on the tire with some flexibility.
  7. I am sharing your opinion too, however I also like that the kit is at a low MSRP. This way, it makes things a lot easier to dig in to and modify. One would hesitate once or twice to cut the roof of from the GT40 for example. I think it is a hard topic for a model-manufacturer, the 'golden' days are gone and in big-scale there is less activity. I am just glad that Revell has the cojones to even produce a big-scale new tooling. And for the people who wants more detail, there is the announcement from Scale Motor Sport. I am anxious to see how David progresses on the build.
  8. I was reading through this topic and started thinking the exact same thing as Khart for me. 55 dollars for a 1/12 kit is amazing. I do remember that the 1/8 Deuce was recently being offered for 99 dollars, and that is a reissue. This is completely new molding. Yes, the part count is low, but on the other side: We are modellers, aren't we? So why would we worry about putting some detail in it of our own. That said, I looked at the list of goodies in the picture of the GSL and my wallet already screams many deaths. That SMS set looks quite costly, I wouldn't be suprised if it doubled the kit-price.
  9. Time to install the windows, I had to use a little bit of force. The whitewalls with the (I believe) Rally II wheels I added some BMF and green flocks to the interior. I decided to go with a black carpetbase as a different touch to it. I am still not sure if it is the best looking combo, but it is not that bad either. I also left a little gift on the back-seat, which I will reveal later. It is just a matter until the glue has set, so I can cut open the tape on top, to give it a more realistic look to it. And so far the dash.
  10. Thank you all guys for the comments! And there was little progress, even though it is a very, very simple kit, it isn't all that bad too build. Especially the car itself is nicely molded, it really reflects that 70's feel to it. I decided to go a little easier on the green and added some black, it ended up being a weird colorcombo, so I toned the green a bit down and it looks more in balance this way. The body is starting to look like a car, I added some flat-black aspects to the grill and it really comes to live. I also had to add some BMF on the top of the grill, since there was no chrome. The BMF placed on the car, really pops. it goes very well with the dark green
  11. It is not really about comparing it to other forums, although I am/was on other forums where the amount of pictures per post is unlimited. We were here at 10 pics per post, which seems quite doable, even though I would've seen that number higher. The main-reason that it was being limited, was for the dial-up guys. Nowadays, dial-up seems to fade away in the history books and the few exceptions even complain, because of the limited amount of pictures. Maybe it is a forum-default setting when they changed it to the new lay-out. Hopefully we can restore it to 10 pics again or even better; unlimited. The fact is that it doesn't really work anyway. People with more than 5 or 10 pics, will post more replies, so the amount of pictures will be the same, just more annoyance and posts.
  12. The tires got a white-wall appearance with the airbrush. I think it will look good under the dark body.
  13. I started this project not too long ago. I thought it would be a nice, simple project. It has only 26 parts and it is only a curbside. I painted the car in a light-brown, but didn't like the looks of it. So I painted it with a dark-green paint. When I clearcoated the Mercedes, I took this car in the same run, so I can work on it and probably finish soon. The box-art All of the parts.... I filled the ejectormarks I had to polish out some little dust-specs And gave the interior a wild mintgreen interior. I wanted to add some contrast, instead of going for a boring black treatment.
  14. I tried to update my SLS topic and noticed that I got an error when I wanted to post 6 pictures. When deleting one, I could post and when I added the last picture, the forum accepted it. But is the limit now seriously down to only 5 pictures per post?
  15. Work is slowly coming to a halt. I reached the point of where I can't go any further. Basically the car is done, I only have to wait if Revell sends me some new taillights. When they arrive, I can finish up in the back and the car is done. The door got repaired nicely, looks a lot better than with a mistake in it. The tires didn't really fit nice, if you look to the tire left, you can see some extra rubber on the inside, this makes a bad fit for the tires on the wheel. The solution is to cut out a ring of rubber from the inside. After the tires arrived and I made them fit, I could fit them underneath the car. It starts to look there is a end in sight. I painted the inside of the wheels in the body-color, to give it something extra And so far it sits, I did put some numberplates on and got the mirrors on the door, other than that, it is waiting for the rear-lights.
  16. And when I was working on final assembly, I noticed a blotch on the driverside door. I tried to peel it off with a toothpick, but apparantly it was some glue. How it got there? I have no clue, but I peeled of my paint as well. Now there were 2 options, let it be, but it is disturbing, or go extensive and try to repair it. I decided on the latter. So sanding was necessary Together with some putty And after a couple of hours of work, I got the paint back on. I hope to clearcoat the car tomorrow.
  17. @Harry, thanks!. I am also quite happy with how the interior turned out. To be honest, I was more worried about how that paint-scheme would turn out, then the exterior. But with like most paint-jobs, it is all so personal. And I believe it doesn't misfit the Mercedes. But I respect your opinion as well. @Aaron, Thanks, I thought it would've been a nice addition to the car. When you read about the latest supercars, there seems to be a line with every car that states whether the car can hold a golfbag or not.
  18. I couldn't get the lower part right, so I will hide it a little bit underneath the dash. And the interior glued to the body.
  19. Bedankt Zander! When I wanted to paint the rear-light lenses red, I noticed that Revell 'forgot' to engrave the parts that needed to be left white. I tried to solve that problem with some masking tape, unfortunately it didnt work out the way I wanted it to and I had to order new parts from Revell. So I continued with the interior, the headliner got some BMF to represent the domelights And getting it into the car was a husle, but with some persuation by clothespins, the headliner went it ok. Work continued on the chassis, most of these parts will never be seen again, so I didn't took a lot of effort in cleaning up the parts. The radiator got some shades of black, to give it a bit more depth. The interior nears completion as well, seats are installed, together with the pedals. The wheelwells got glued to the chassis And the plastic-cover on top of the engine got glued on. I made some golf-clubs to add into the interior.
