Pontiac Firebird Turbo Trans-am 1/8
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It seems ok, but it didnt work out for exact measuring The top part was set in a steeper angles, because of the shorter and lower 78 nose And because I wasn't happy, I decided to reset. I cut up the bumper in 5 important pieces, left the scene, thought of a better way and decided to start from the biggest change, the light clusters. So I started to make them from styrene and work from there on The '80 light units are also an exact match to the '78. A good and helpful coincidence And the project so far, it does give the right look. -

Then I cut it out, but wasnt happy with it I gave the bumper some styreen for strength I also had to shorten the bumper, as the 78 was shorter. So the part underneath the tape was removed I had to cut up the whole bumper, And glued it back in place, but wasn't happy again I started a new tecnique, adding referal points to the bumper, but it turned out that that didnt work out well either. It look liked this in the back -

And ready for some new paint Doesn't it look a lot better? I started detailling the engine with some brass tubes, the start for resembling spark-plugs The v-belt and other parts that seriously needs some more detailling Just like the manifolds And then we come to the main-feature of this build, I want it to be a '78. I just don't like the '80 nose that much and I am going to try to make it to a '78 front fascia, wish me luck. I started with contouring the cutout freehanded, which failed I tried again, looked better, but still no It wasn't accurate, so I made plans from online pictures. Quite obvious that the lights are a lot lower than the '80 -
I thought I started this build already on the board, but couldn't find it no more. I just start over. The box The engine how I received it, fairly decent, but it did had some detailling issues, like visible moldlines. I decided to take it apart. The stripped parts And the engine without the stripped parts After a day of ovencleaner Stashing away the other parts safely, A must I discovered And starting to cleanup the engine Just like on top And sand it

I got bored.... It happens more often and than I wonder through my kits and get new ideas, I went through a new stash and soon got the idea to make something I've not seen before, I wanted to have a modern japanese rallycoupe, other than the Impreza. I wanted to use a Evo X, but I thought that the Evo 6 had a better body for it. And so I started, I took the Evo and found soon a good donor for the roof; a R34 Skyline After a long time of measuring and delicate cutting, I had the roof cut off, and roughly placed on the Evo, the idea is now taking shape. Seen from the side.

AMT's 1956 Ford Victoria 'La Sombrera'
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Sorry for the late reply guys; @Adam, thanks! @Androis; I think you missed the boat somewhere, this is by far not a oldscool dragcar @Charlie; yes, it does. When you see the car IRL, you noticed something under the paint, which makes you take a second look and see the mural. @Walt; Thank you! For tonight, this is my last update. This build is riping well, it is close to be finished and I think it won't take long, I need to airbrush some parts, like the inner doorpanels and the radiator shroud. For the rest it is assembling and detailling. I started to put La Sombrera on it's wheels, it does make it look a lot better, it gives the car its attitude. Then I started to work on the wiring, since it is custom, I omitted the distributor and made the wires to flow away nicely I added 2 gas-filters, the gas-line and the heating unit And I doubt on the filterhouse, on the left is the original part, on the right is a hubcap, and the hubcap seems to me a nice detail for a airfilter. -
Fryske Falk - 1/32 - Landspeedrecord-car
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The original (NAE) had open wheels, but I question the aerodynamics of that, So I created from the fueltanks pods, to cover the wheels for the biggest parts, but not completely, I don't know why, but something told me it looked better and more logical I have to adress this gap And then it was time for the paintbooth Starting with primer And finish it with a nice blue color. -

I haven't been very motivated to build a lot lately, nor had the motivation to post updates, it is a lot of work (time) and I don't get the feeling my builds are that interesting. Not that I am crying for attention, it is ok. But it just doesnt help with motivating ofcourse. Tonight I found a spark of motivation and will update some of my projects. The updates of the Frisian Falcon The wings had some weird dents in the wings, so I put some putty on it. A bit hard to see, but the wingshape is starting to be there And the ingredients for the wheels of the Frisian Falcon I used 2 innerwheels of a 1/24 kit to get a solid front wheel When I testfitted the rear-wheels, I got a new idea to use the fueltank, so I cut them and removed the middlepiece Glued them together and let it hard The 1/35th military wheels were sanded on my multitool Just like the middlewheels And the front wheel -

That is the risk you take when adressing somebody in public, if you don't want other people to be concerned with your problems, keep them private -

Shell Ferrari commercial
The Creative Explorer replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know, but it is kinda normal. I'd rather had gasprices from the middle-east, I believe only a couple of cents per liter/gallon. But whatcha gonna do about it? -

The Creative Explorer replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah right, we pay 8.89 dollars per gallon over here in Europe, so be happy -
Depends which series you take. I believe this is one is from the sportscar series and has little detail, it is a nice kit, but not a lot of in-depth detail. Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought this one is curbside. If you take one from the Enthusiast-series, then you have full detail, front, cabin and engine.

Mustang GT modifications?

Seems like Ferrari 360 Wheels But if you look at the last post date, it is a old post. You have a better chance to private message the poster, then to bump a old thread. -
Decals.Polish or clear coat?
The Creative Explorer replied to rickd13's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
In your case, I would clearcoat the car. If you start fiddling with polishing around the decals, your finish will be uneven. This is just a moment for learning. It is not a 'mistake', but you will know now the right order for next time. For myself; I always clearcoat over the decals, but that has to do, to give it a custom-look. -
Making Door & Hood Hinges

yes please, this looks awesome -
This is my score from the last few months, and it is not bad considering the big-scales are not a 'huge' thing over here. Especially the older ones are hard to come by, most often for prices you can buy a real car. I am more than often not willing to pay those prices, and keep searching. Luckily, it has been kind on me and I was able to find some nice kits for nice prices. So here we go:

Paint from the inside, it can be supermessy, but it will show gloss black on the outside. You can't go wrong with this at all....
