Remember Hot Rod the movie? (1979)
Suburban_Hooligan replied to Mike C.'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
iv seen it. it caused me to on a car movie downloading spree several years ago. got Hot Rod, Hot Rod Rumble, King of the Mountain, a movie id never heard of called "Red Line" staring Chad McQueen, the original Gone in 60 Seconds, The California Kid, a cheesy late 90's made for TV semi "remake" (i use that term loosely) of The Love Bug. Funny Car Summer, Fabulous Floppers, and some late 50's drag racing film called Ingenuity in Action. anyway there's also this movie called Hot Rod -
i remember seeing pic's of the car torn apart after the fire. looked salvageable (it is a race car after all, and re-pop 69 Camaro sheet metal is easily acquired). that's one reason iv been wondering. if it were an axe, would it be on its second head and third handle? or is there some actual made by GM in 69 stuff still there?

for those of you into the "Seattle sound" -
recently my city has decided it was a good idea to take out a lane on a rater busy street and make it a bike lane. it went from 3 lanes each direction down to 2. which do to location (directly off a freeway offramp that's right by a park entrance with a bus stop right behind it) has completely cluster-screwed traffic on that street. but don't worry, that bike lane will go largely neglected and unused by cyclists. don't ya just love it when your government uses your tax dollars for no good reason in a way that inconvenience you? and now they're are signs up on the next main street north of there, so im wondering if they're doing the same thing over there. which will be fun cause if that's the case there will only be on lane in each direction. and there is already about a 6 foot wide bike lane on each side of that street. i need to move.

i left work at 1 and went a cruised PCH down well into the OC. saw more C8 Corvettes, Porsches 911, and for some reason Aston Martins than i could shake a stick at. also 2 Audi R8's and 2 Lamborghini Huracans, , and thanks to traffic i was only able to get a pic of this. a Meyers Tow'd. not complaining, this is the first time iv ever seen one in the wild.

a little history. i was originally going to build this into a slot car (a pro mod if i remember right) back in like 1995. i painted the body and never got a chassis so it just sat. after looking at it for almost 30 years i went digging through my parts boxes and found most of the parts and slapped it together with the motto's "good enough", "don't care", "oh well" and "whatever". i fit it in between other projects in an attempt to just get it out of the garage. overall it still came out better than i was expecting. the only alteration i made was the wheels and tires. they're centerlines from a Revell 70 Chevelle kit. not a clue where the tires originated from.
