  1. I wish i took a picture before sanding and respraying. I recently painted the chassis on my 1940 ford convertible kit. I primed it with tamiya primer and sprayed it with tamiya matte black. however I looked at it after a short time and found tiny bubbles in some parts of the paint. the only other time i had seen this was when i had painted outside and wind got onto the wet paint. However I painted this inside with no wind. I sanded it out and respraying it seems to have fixed it but im curious if others had seen it and know what the cause is
  2. thank you. you made it very nice, or filthy... any it looks amazingly realistic. nice work
  3. What kit is that for the older car (model t or model a, i dont know those really old ones) anyway, this is really awesome
  4. i was able to see the video of them flying and landing. i didnt think i would care much, but man that was really cool.
  5. I just read an article online about the movie. It said the creator of the movie thought it was more poetic the more confusing it was. Poetic isn't the word i would use
  6. I watched no sudden moves. I thought it was confusing for the sake of being confusing. also they used an old timey camera lense so the sides of the entire movie are distorted. With That said, i thought it was ok. At least its not another remake of a bad 80s movie, somehow made worse
  7. I imagine it would take significant heat to heat up the shingle enough to damage the tire. Assuming the single was free of tar
  8. There is decal paper, usually water slide decals are used. You print on ink jet printer and cover with clear coat paint. It really needs a great printer and a very high quality image. Even then it might not look 100% Also normal printers can't print white ink so if that is needed you would need to use white ink jet paper and cut all the way to the edge. Also depending on the print, the ink will be still a little see through so many just use white decal paper over the clear I looked for a custom print maker for decals a while back and got no where. It seems its quite expensive to have a professional company do it Also 1/43 is really small so many details wouldn't be seen when shrunk to that size for tge decals
  9. oh nice. i been wanting to grab one of these. i will wait until i see one at hobby lobby for 40% off
  10. im not looking for snap level simple, but i also dont want to have to heat and bend something to get it to fit properly. i get that its a 50 year old mold at this point, and i will probably build this one eventually. however, the last 2 i built were such poor fitting kits, that it would be nice to just build one that goes as its supposed to. i might rebuild the 48 monogram (or revell, i dont remember which it is). that was a nice fitting kit, even though it had a lot of little bits of pieces
  11. i got the sedan in today from amazon. i tried the fitting of both hoods and both fit like garbage. the plan was to build a nice and easy kit after the last 2 difficult ones, i think this will go on the shelf for a while
  12. that is interesting thank you. i assumed the delivery would have been a longer kit since the body looks so much longer. i actually ordered the coupe i linked above, and the new release of the gasser https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DS8JRTT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 so i guess i will have all 3
  13. I have the sedan delivery. that is the same as the coupe except the interior and body? if they are the same, i can work on the chassis and engine, and just wait for the kit to come. This is what i ordered https://www.amazon.com/AMT-AMT1141-1940-Coupe-Multi/dp/B07KNFLMGG/ref=asc_df_B07KNFLMGG/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459723993320&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11464290404212578887&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003932&hvtargid=pla-834217232763&psc=1 This is what i have
  14. thank you very much. it looks like the interior is different. the coupe is front seats only, the sedan has rear seats.
  15. the site requires registration, and then it says registration is disabled. it looks like there are some differences though based on the post below yours, so i think im just going to wait. i got the shipment notice, it will probably arrive monday. i can go 2 days without a model, or i can work on my 64 corvette snap kit
  16. if trying to build the 2 cars stock, is the AMT 39/40 Ford Sedan the same as the AMT 40 Ford Coupe other than the body? or is the interior, engine, frame etc different? i want to build the coupe, and i have it on order, but i can get the sedan right away. if they are the same other than the body, i can work on everything except the body this weekend and only have the body stuff to do when it arrives. unfortunately i cant find the coupe anywhere local
  17. i tried grubhub twice. both times the estimated delivery was about 45 minutes and both times it was more than twice as long as the estimate. once i even called and cancelled because it was close to 2 hours and still not delivered
  18. i never knew this. i was going to order from them, but not now
  19. thank you. i think i am going to take a couple days from building and start something this weekend. between the AMT bronco being a tough build and then doing this one shortly after, i built 2 very tough builds in a row, and i was getting too frustrated. the revell 48 ford convertible is a really nice kit, i built it once before and i messed that one up on the very final cut of the BMF, where the knife slipped and cut a small gash in the plastic. that was years ago, but it always haunted me because that was the closest i had ever come to a "perfect" build. By perfect i mean no mistakes in the paint (no dust, cat hair, anything), no glue spots, etc...just the small gash from the knife. i have gotten better at painting now and i have a new method for chrome, so i think its a good time for a redo so i can get that kit to stop haunting me. alternatively, i could build the 40 ford, which i think is almost the same kit, just a different body, which i would guess is just as good. I have them both in my stash, so i will take a look to see which to do. i ordered some paint from scale finishes, so i might try my hand at airbrushing a kit instead of using tamiya spray paint. i did the interior of this kit completely with an airbrush, so i have learned to control the paint better. it would be really cool to be able to paint with factory colors since i really like having my kits look like factory fresh
  20. Unfortunately this kit is no more. I was 99% done. I was gluing in the front grill. Of course it didn't fit. Anyway, the cat happened to jump onto my work table as the piece was being glued and the piece fell off and got glue all over the front. I did my best to fix it but it was beyond repair short of taking it apart and sanding and respraying This kit has been nothing but a disaster for me at every turn and i had no interest in doing it. Anyway, here is the final picture pf how it stood before ending in the trash. i probably will buy this color paint again and put it on a 1940 or 1948 revell ford. i wont build these amt 51 chevy's again. i dont think i have enough skill and patience for it. just nothing went together well.
  21. I gave up quickly on getting the inner fenders to fit. I kept reading they dont fit. I could fet th in and get them to fit, but they didnt connect to the chassis. if i angled it to the chassis it was too high up. I am just going to glue the hood in place and call it a day.
  22. The interior is built and the engine is in place. I have a couple of pieces to do on the engine compartment still but im getting close to the end. The blue on the dash and top of panels are body color. The room im in has no light other than the window so it looks very dark. The panels are 2 tone, dark gray (almost black) and tan. The seats are ak interactive cremeweiss. i made the panels a little darker to indicate they are a different material. the floor is black. This build has been quite difficult with a lot of mistakes. thankfully I had an extra kit to steal parts from. I will be glad to finish it. i think i might do an easy to build kit next. This one actually caused me stress, which has never happened to me building a kit before.
  23. My last few models have required the steering column to be glued into a notch at the bottom of the dash and also glued against the firewall. Is There a good method to accomplish this. if i try to glue in the column and guess the length i never get it right. If i try to glue it to the firewall and pull it up to the dash, it falls and gets glue everywhere. On my current build i just glued it to the dash and cut the rest of the column off. I tried for an hour last night without luck. There isn't an indicator of where to put the column on the dashboard. Like a pin or something
  24. They are really good if you have the membership. A while back i ordered a large sub and the gave me a mini. My wife got food too. I asked doordash what to do and they refund the entire order and 10 dollars above that. I dont complain often but when i do, they are amazing. However, other times they are terrible. i guess it depends on who you get
  25. well considering marinara sauce gives me issues with my stomach, it would have wasted my money if i wasnt refunded. certain foods trigger the issue for me... but maybe next time i will just keep things to myself, no reason to share stuff on a message board and have a good time. god forbid (also thread is what irked you, not what ruined your day. trying to have a nice meal with my wife messed up by getting the wrong thing does irk me)
