  1. I really want to buy a car from the 40s. I even found a few that i could afford. the problem is i would need to sell my current car to get it, and my wife wont let me do it. I rarely drive anymore, maybe 1 time per week to the store and back. Maybe 5 or 10 minute drive. So i pay my monthly payments on my 2 year old car that i barely drive. Whats worse, last month carvana offered me 3000 more than i paid for it new. I checked yesterday and now its only 1000 more than i paid. I know my wife is right that an 80 year old car isn't smart, but with my current situation, this would be the best time to do it
  2. This kit is taking everything i have to finish it. I cant tell if its me or the kit. Not much is fitting right. My front wheel hubs dont have any holes for the steering and the arm doesn't even reach if i were to drill holes. There is an option for dual exhaust but only 1 exhaust manifold. Im using the dual exhaust though because it will look better in the back. I am at the point of painting the interior and hope that I will finish it in the next couple of days. After that, it will be to put it all together because everything else is painted. There has been a few times i wanted to pack it in, but i like the blue color and really like the car.
  3. The user of this video has lots of others as well. I watched a few of them. There eas one in nj in the 1920s. You see people walking across the streets in front of cars and almost getting hit by the cars. Its just like today...
  4. neither of my parents were born when this was filmed. this is so cool to me. its a video of the 1940s florida, and colorized. i didnt make or have anything to do with this video, just found it and thought it was awesome
  5. i ordered delivery from pizza unos. my wife got pizza and i ordered pasta with vodka sauce. they gave me regular marinara sauce. thankfully doordash agrees that its not close enough to right and gave me my money back for the pasta.
  6. My mother always say flies carry disease. I suspect that stomach acids would kill any disease. I would leave the fly in for flavor
  7. 45 dollars for parking is ridiculous and they should be ashamed
  8. i am not sure i would want to sell a kit by kit of my collection, i have too many and it would be quite an undertaking. however, there are several sites that buy collections. i am not sure if you would get the money you would like by selling it this way. i would imagine selling it as 1 by 1 would bring more than 10 per kit
  9. i used to be a star wars geek, pretty bad one. this is by far my favorite star wars movies of all time. i watched the hunt on hbo max this weekend. was very good. i had no idea what the movie was about other than the description and i enjoyed it all the way through
  10. I use a molotow chrome pen. i tape off the body with tamiya masking tape. then i use the chrome molotow pen onto the moldings. after the ink dries i remove the tape. if there is any run off that went under the tape, i use tamiya q-tips to rub it off. this is how it looks before the tape is removed (this was on my oldsmobile, but the same concept) if there are any mistakes or missing areas of the chrome, i will fix it after.
  11. I got the chrome painted on. Pictures look better when room is darker. the light from outside seems to cause the phone camera some grief
  12. Thank you. I will probably use a chrome molotow pen. i never have luck with bmf
  13. Im not going to waste anytime after finishing the revell 50 olds 88. I just started the AMT 1951 Chevy Convertible from Sun Cruiser box. The body had so many large mold lines on all 4 corners, in the fenders, rear panels. It took about 3 hours of sanding the body as clean as i could get it. The body is painted tamiya AS19 Intermediate Blue and clear coat with tamiya ts13. 2 coats of each. The plan is to make the interior cream colored. i will be using the ak interactive brand paint for the interior, from the set black and cream interiors. So far i have the little bits painted black or silver but not put together yet. Im going to build this only with box parts but will use some custom pieces on this build that came in the kit. typically I try to build factory style but im going to do a little different this time. I really like this color for this car. Its a tad bit darker than in the pictures I will take more pictures as i progress further
  14. I know i dont want a box of flash and ill fitting parts, especially when kits cosr 30 plus dollars now. I would say amt is more notorious for it over any of the current companies, yet charge the same price
  15. the only time i have personally experienced this was when painting on incompatible types of paint. one was a acrylic and the other was enamel. however, its odd that half of the same piece had the reaction. im interested to see what others say
  16. I think im going to call this one finished. I really like the build except the glass pieces and the mounting of the rims and tires
  17. I have a friend who sells stuff on Amazon marketplace. he said Amazon took way less than ebay. Before I knew how bad ebay fees were i took a bath on selling. Between the ebay listing fee, then the percentage of sale fee, and then paypal fee, i lost money on every sale. I rarely sold on ebay, but now definitely not.
  18. my brother in law had a huge problem with bank of america when his father died. he needed to close the accounts and get into the safety deposit box. he kept filling out and faxing all these different forms they required, however it seemed that it was never the "right" form, even though they were sending him the forms to fill out. i think it took close to 3 months to get it resolved from the first time he contacted them. my wife said she wants to switch banks because of it.
  19. i didnt realize that ebay was now requiring your social security to sell stuff. i understand it is for the taxman but at the same time, i do not trust ebay enough to give them my social security number. besides, anything i would sell would be stuff that i bought in the past, so technically, shouldnt that just "wash out" nothing i have is valuable enough to bother selling anymore. i used to sell to clear out room for more stuff, but i would rather give stuff away over giving ebay my social. i am trying to remember if paypal has it. i signed up so long ago, that i dont think i gave it. i know i wouldnt now. i know they have my credit card and bank card number, but that is all insured through fdic. if my social get stolen, people can buy cars, houses, credit cards in my name, and none of that will be easy or fast or cheap to fix. one bad line of code opens me up for potential credit destruction. no thanks. one bad line of code opens me up for potential credit destruction. no thanks.
  20. Looks great. I will be honest, depending on how and where the dust spec is, i will try to sand it out at the end, and sometimes if its in a place not easily seen, i will leave it as im worried about making it worse, which is usually what happens. However since i started painting in the Tupperware box with the lid, the dust and cat hair is quite rare now.
  21. Thanks guys. I chromed the body using molotow pen. Before and after. No matter mow much i tuck the tape, there are always a couple of spots that the chrome gets under. Thankfully I found if you wait for it to dry and rub a cotton swab on it you can get it away with out any real damage to the clearcoat. one day i will learn to be more careful with the pen so i wont need to tape the whole car, and i didnt have patience for the bmf this time
  22. Probably not, honestly. I will give an effort but probably toss them. I rarely open the hood of my builds once its done. I usually toss them in a case...or the garbage if there are a lot of mistakes
  23. Do you know where you friend got the swamp cooler. i would really like to use one in mine.
  24. Do they just not fit al all or need trimming? In building this one and have not gotten to it yet
  25. Besides these kits being rare or semi rare, are Johan kits good building kits as far as ease and accuracy
