What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)
Dpate replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Turned out alright. Glad it’s done as it’s not Tamiya’s best kit IMO. Few mistakes, and rear view mirror gone because my son lost it ?♂️. Rear tail lights cut from sprue still showed through, and wrong Porsche decals on rims as I didn’t have the proper ones, and the kit ones don’t show good on black. Not to shabby for the $14 I paid for it. Porsche GT3 in Mexico blue from gravity colors. -
How Important is Box Art
Dpate replied to Biggu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like a good box art especially from Tamiya. But it’s not that important to me where I’d spend money on a kit just for a new box art, and updated decals. If everything is new, and updated? Than take my money. -
Was the alpine good? That sucks donkey $&@¥ that happened. Definitely return or replacement from Amazon.

Scale Hobbyist Anyone?
Dpate replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice. Like everyone else said they’re legit. I’ve ordered hundreds of dollars worth of products from them. There also one of the cheapest to buy from too compared to megahobby, and model roundup. -
WOW!!! Awesome stuff man. Not sure how much you got this for, but that MENG F-350 can go for $3-$400.

Now that me and my baby mama is back together - im able to get little more free time at the bench or as my son calls it the “Hobby lobby room”. Between work & family, building model kits, and gaming being young @35 allows me to multitask for now. Not sure how many hours I’ll be at the bench though it varies. Masking alone can feel like 30 mins, but 2 hours done went by lol. Think the longest I’ve sat at the bench has been bout 4 hours just cleaning parts, test fitting, gluing parts.

All this came in today. Lego, megahobby, and Burbank house of hobbies orders. Still waiting on my gravity color order.

Yeah that stinks, and sucks they cost so much. So far I’ve been fortunate, and haven’t damaged mine yet. I have however damaged my micro mark nippers dropping them ?. They still work though okay, but I mainly use them now for cutting parts off the tree. Than get in close with the god hands, and I now ALWAYS keep the nipper sleeve cover on when not in use.

Love this brand. There liquid mask is the only liquid mask I use.

What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)

Got these pipes done. The left is what it looked like before taking it all off on the right pipe. Just Tamiya 1mm tape with some 2 mixed in, and abteilung 502 liquid mask. The things we do just to get small details airbrushed lol. -
Same thing happened to me with the F40 & F50. I had purchased that I thought the proper shade of red for the F40, but it was the shade for the F50. So I had purchased the proper F40 shade of red, and purchased F50 kit lol.

Nothing special just some hard to find window masks from hobbyeasy for Tamiya Porsche 911 GT3. Even comes with a template to make extra. Need to figure out how to upload it online so folks can print it out.

I picked mine up today as well since HL was on sale. It’s not bad for a round2 new tooling. The body though the chrome trimming doesn’t go all the way around in the corners as you see on the box. So that’s gonna need fixing to look right, and the mold lines everywhere, and sink mark galore, and the panel lines are almost non existent. The chrome looks nice, but little thick too along with bad placement of gates. I just go into a new tooled kit with high expectations. I’m just being picky, but it is a nice quality kit that I’m sure will go together no problems. Hardest part is gonna be figuring out if I wanna do a solid color or two tone lol.

Mine had a lot, but didn’t have the sale so I left it. Now I wish I would have grabbed one.

My other ikea skadis custom 3D printed parts came in. Didn’t hang them all up as I’m still tryna get the best lay out. The ones on top can hold Tamiya, Mr color, 10 mL also gravity colors lol. The other is for Vallejo or similar bottles, and the two shelves are for Tamiya glue bottle or anything that’ll fit.

Today some paints, and a cobra came in. Also custom made parts holder from Etsy. I’ve opened the cobra, and unfortunately even sealed the decals were not 100% white, but more like beige yellow. If I can’t get them back white I’ll just keep it basic like on the Viking blue bottle of paint.

Looks better than it did. The other two you mentioned I use for detail chrome painting along with AK super chrome. They’re not worth using otherwise unless it’s something you’re never gonna touch afterwards or hardly touch before hand. They’re way too delicate for my liking, but that’s just me.

What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)
Dpate replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got my ikea skadis installed. Just temporary for now, and not sure if I’m gonna keep half of my tape up. Takes quite a bit of space, and I got more custom skadis stuff from Etsy on the way. -
What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)
Dpate replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interior done, and body on, and mostly done. Still got some glass n stuff to put on. Dang 2K fought me every step of the way on the hood, and right side of the body. Still looks decent ?, and first time doing seat belts. -
Best airbrush paints for beginners.
Dpate replied to FoMoCo66's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I’m a lacquer guy. I use all types of paint though. I pretty much do automotive lacquer paints for bodies(interior if it’s called for), Tamiya LP/Mr.hobby for everything else, and Tamiya enamels for tiny detailing. I do own Vallejo paints, Tamiya acrylic line up as well. Hot paints though I’d definitely practice on spoons or donor body. They’re not as forgiving as regular lacquer paints, but they are easy to get the hang of though.
