  1. You take a 1/16th scale Minicraft 1931 Model A roadster and combine with a 1/16th scale MPC Cobra 427 You might end up with something like this: thanx for lookin'...
  2. No problem, ask away...?
  3. Nash's only victory was at Charlotte Speedway in 1951 and was driven by Curtis Turner. This is another model I've built of the cars Curtis Turner raced throughout his career. I started with a 3D printed body from Jahn3D. The Revell 1950 Oldsmobile chassis, running gear, interior, wheels and tires slide underneath the 3D printed Nash Ambassador. This model is on it's way to the Curtis Turner wing at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, Virginia. thanx for lookin'...
  4. Thanx Danno, the model will be in Virginia when I see you at Desert Scale Classic in April.
  5. I used this stuff...sands easily. be careful not to put it on too thick, it will fill panel lines, etc. It just brushes on and self levels.
  6. I have been building a collection of race cars that Curtis Turner drove throughout his career. All of these are being donated to the Virginia Museum of Transportation. They have a wing set aside for Curtis Turner who grew up close to Roanoke, Virginia. After contacting and meeting his daughter Sue, she stated the 1950 Nash Ambassador her dad and Bill France drove in the Mexican Road Race of 1950 was the "Holy Grail" she was looking for. In May of 1950 Bill France and Curtis Turner raced a 1950 Nash 4 door Ambassador in the Carrera Panamericana. Also known as The Mexican Road Race of 1950. They started as the 126th entry and finished in 47th place, despite dropping out on the day before the finish due to a broken radiator. Finding a 1950 Nash 4 door Ambassador in 1/25th scale did present a problem, until 3D printing. I ran across Jens-Uwe Jahn of Jahn3D rapid prototyping (rapidpro@jahn3d.de) at the N Scale Railroaders convention in Salt Lake City last year. He says he can make American Models in any scale! So I challenged him to print me up a 1950 Nash Ambassador 4 door in 1/25th scale. And he did. The 3D printing on the larger scales are still a little rough and It did take a lot of work to get the body smooth. I used most of the parts except the body from the excellent 1950 Oldsmobile by Revell. With just a little trimming of the chassis the Olds chassis slid in place and the wheelbase matched up just fine. Hers's how it turned out. Curtis Turner played a big role in helping Bill France get NASCAR up and running, even though Bill France banned Turner from NASCAR in 1961 for trying to unionize the drivers! Thanx for looking.

  9. Dang it, missed my chance...put the banjo steering wheel in the '29 Ford Roadster
  10. Yep, I tried but just couldn't get it to fit right...plus it's really fragile.
  11. Yep, I thought I was posting it "Underglass"...don't know how to change it.
  12. Every time I opened the cupboard, the '29 Ford Model A Roadster 2'n1 kit kept staring at me. So finally I gave up and built it. I had used the channeled chassis, tires and wheels on a previous build, so built the high boy version. Went with Replicas & Miniatures W-8 1/25 Wide Whitewall Tires Big & Little Skinnies w/bias-ply tread, steely wheels and used the kit hub caps. Also added Replicas & Miniatures RH-911 1/25th "Hallock" Style V'ed Windshield. What a beautiful kit! Everything fit and the detail was magnificent. Paint is 1954 Ford H Sea Haze Green from Scalefinishes. 13. I saw a photo of a RatRod truck with a guitar shaped nose in a magazine. Decided it would be fun to build something like it in 1/25th scale. So here it is...started with the Revell 1941 Chevy PU, chopped and channeled the body, rebuilt the bed, added Replicas & Miniatures fuel tank, installed a Chevy V-6, tires from parts box added to kit wheels and scratch-built the guitar grill. Painted primer red and used Rustall to dirty it up, decals are from Steve. 14. Inspired by " Gas Monkeys" build of a rear engined Ford Econoline pickup, I decided to build one of my own. Started with a Jimmy Flintstone resin body, scratch built chassis, Ford 428 w/Automatic tranny, resin copy of a V-drive from a boat kit and wheels and tires from parts box. Painted it a Ford Medium Lime Green Metallic from Scalefinishes. 15. Hello Peter, it's been a long time! I have not been on the forum much, but was glad to see your name pop up again! I will be following this project, I think you sent me this body awhile back. I will have to try and find it. happy modeling... Curt
  16. Porsche - Bernard??? This isn't a Hot Rod... Glad to see you're building a sports car, I will check in now and then to see how you're doing. I've built a couple of these, nice kit for it's age. Getting ready to for GSLXXVII, you need to make the next and last one in 2022! c'ya Buddy
  17. Nice work Tonto... it's nice to see you are no longer "un-hinged", spun maybe...
  18. I've lived in Northern California since 1963 and have no desire ever to leave. Granted it's more expensive living here, but clean air, golf year round, two seasons (wet/dry) and being able to paint almost anytime you want are worth it. And Yes, NorCal and SoCal are two different planets...I'll take San Francisco over Los Angeles anytime!
  19. Yep...looks great in real daylight! I think a few people messed their pants at DSC after seeing it.
  20. Howdy Chris Dang did I really miss this build earlier! I heard you talking to John about the "Spaghetti Bender" during our visit, now I know what younger talking about! If they are up to your standard...I'll give you a set of my 1/16th scale wire wheels at the GSL. c'ya buddy
  21. Great Photos Mike...
  22. Thanx everyone for your comments. The model suffered a little travel damage on the ride home from Desert Scale Classic in Phoenix. Air Horn came loose and lost the drivers wiper blade...nuthin' that can't be fixed. c'ya
  23. Saw this magazine and really liked the truck on the cover. I wasn't interested in doing a replica build of the truck, but used it as my inspiration. Just happened to have a resin cast "Jimmy Flintstone" '41 Ford COE, but wasn't going to sacrifice the bed from the Revell '37 Ford Pick Up. I used the '38 grill from the kit though. I did have a few '50 Ford pick up beds in in my stash, so used one of these. My buddy Steve loaned me a front-wheel drive transaxle from a kit and I made a mould of it for resin casting. Used the rear IRS from a Corvette donated by another buddy Raul. One of the joys of a Jimmy Flintstone resin body is you have a lot of resin to play with! Using photos and the '38 grill I ground away on the '41 Ford COE until I was happy. Headlights are from a '41 Willy', engine, exhaust, chassis, wheels and tires pulled out of my parts collection. thanks for lookin'
  24. We - Raul Perez, Steve Allemand and myself shall see you there Simon
  25. Most Excellent Mr. Teresi, can't wait until the "Hinging Party"
