  1. Yep this is some good stuff going on here. Well done on the solder work nice tight joints with very little solder to clean up.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. The flaw may or may not be my fault, notice you can see the decal film not shore how that happened. I prepped the paint pretty good by buffing down to 12k grit sanding pad which left a nice smooth surface, I than wiped the body down with a damp paper towel and applied my decals with setting solution, I let the decals dry over night for over 12 hours and cleared the body the next day. To bad this happened with the decals, besides that I am happy with the way it turned out.
  3. Yep looks good to me, the movie was pretty good to.

Thanks Chris, I wish it was, take a closer look at the pics see if you can spot the one huge flaw, no hints you have to find it yourself, lol.

Thanks, yes there are several 1. large gaps between the chassis and body that I filled in, this will not effect the construction just the looks, 2. there are several gaps between the intake manifold and the heads and the front timing cover and the heads don't fit to good. 3. the seat is to small and out of scale again a looks thing.

I got this one finished, over all I am pretty happy with the results even if it's not close to perfect. I am still working on taking better photos and I think these are a little better. All comments welcome.
  7. Looking good, I can never get enough of these hot rod builds.
  8. Thanks guys, I have already put the model on all four wheels it does look much better with the new skins and wheels. The Henry j donor kit turned out to be of some use after all. The next update should go in the under Glass section very soon look for it there.
  9. I got a lot of the work on the chassis done, still need to add shocks under the rear axle and a few other parts but I am almost there. The interior is glued to the chassis and it appears to fit pretty good with the body. all comments welcome.
  10. Wow nice work on your GTX, the paint looks great.
  11. I pic of the replacement wheels and tires, kit parts on the right and the good stuff on the left much better I think.
  12. Thanks Bill, thanks Glenn. I Had a lot of trouble finding good pics for reference, but what I found also tells me that the rims are wrong, the kit comes with deep dish steal wheels for the rear and a vintage type rail front spoke mag. I will replace all 4 wheels with Cragers and the hard plastic tires with the Henry J slicks and skinny fronts.
  13. Time for an update, I got the interior pretty much finished it's a little plain and boring so I added the seat belts, gas ,brake and clutch pedals, also added a tach on the dash. The kit came with only one seat and it appeared to me to be to small and out of scale so I swapped in a pair from the Revell Henry J dragster. I will try to take better pics next time, all comments welcome.
  14. Thanks Glenn, I thought I was just going to buy another kit for the body, I think I got lucky with this one it doesn't look to bad.
  15. I really like these old rod builds, I like those door hinges one day I will give that a try, nice work.
  16. I really like it, nice clean build out of the box.
  17. Time for another update. I fixed the side trim problem by removing it with a mini set of chisels, sand paper and a lot of scraping, both pics below of the almost finished body, all the chrome decals and windows added, just a few minor details to do after the body is mounted. All comments welcome

Yep I agree with all the others that is a very nice shade of blue, The rest of the model looks good to.
  19. Time for another update, got some color on the body Tamiya metallic blue TS-19 I think it looks pretty good, to bad it was a waste of time because I forgot to strip the chrome trim off the side of the body. This is the first time I have made such a big mistake like this. The correction may not be so simple if just strip the side trim off and not strip the paint off the rest of the body I may get two different shades when I re spray the body.
  20. Nice build, yep those wheels look much better.
  21. I like your street machine idea, the engine looks awesome.
  22. Time for a small update, I have been working on the chassis. I used lots of scrap plastic sheet to fill the gaps between the chassis and the body and there was a huge gap between the firewall and the body of the car that was also filled. I still need to fill the seems and do a little more test fitting before I am done.
  23. Thanks for the comments guys, I have always liked to do the detail work on engines.
  24. Looks good to me, maybe the guy drove the car blew the engine had it rebuilt and they painted it red, the only can of paint they had in the shop.
  25. Well done to bad they never made it that way in real life, I like the looks of yours much better.
