  1. I like Detail Master's AN-fittings and braided lines: http://www.detailmaster.com/
  2. I hope it's not a full moon tonight. It's not all bad, Harry. The Bears are still in first place, and the Packers aren't.
  3. That sounds like a correction to me. Thanks for the info, Don.
  4. More pics of Modelhaus' Sweptlines, taken by Steve Goldman at the 2013 Toledo NNL:
  5. I don't know if Revell has released these dates officially or not, but Tower Hobbies has updated release dates for some of the 2013 releases, so feel free to debate. 6. I also look at Tower Hobbies and see what the have listed as "Limited Quantities", and don't include the very new or not yet released kits, and they seem to jive somewhat with the few I've seen on clearance at Michael's. Some, but not all. Tower also has listed the following Revell kits as LQ: '07 Ford Shelby GT500, '70 Boss 429 Mustang, '69 Nova SS ('08 box date IIRC), '48 Ford Custom Coupe, '69 Camaro Convertible, '56 Del Ray, '41 Chevy Pickup, as well as the '68 Firebird, Syclone, '69 Mach 1, and Outlaw you mentioned. I don't know, but if it ends up being a heads up to someone who's been dragging their feet, I guess it has some value.
  7. The red paint between the raised ribs on the valve covers looks good, but I would suggest you don't use red to highlight the empty space between each vertical grille bar, as it means the grille is solid and no air can flow through it. You can kind of get away with using black for those recesses to force a visual shadow effect, but not with colors.
  8. Here's a good shot of the kit parts from the last "Motorworks" release: Here's the original issue:
  9. Bingo. Remember when we used to wait three months for the kit news to appear in a monthly magazine? This past Saturday night we got the news within hours of Revell showing up at the Toledo NNL, with pictures of everything. I'm sure it has to do with money in part, but a quicker, more direct method of communicating with your potential customers will win over an older, slower method every time.
  10. Here's what I remember the Monogram kit including for an air cleaner assembly (this is an original '83 Z/28):
  11. I'm glad you brought that up, Scott. Does Revell send a list of which kits have been discontinued, or do you only find out when you can no longer order it? I noticed the '68 Firebird 400, '86 Monte Carlo SS, '79 Camari Z/28, and Revell '69 Yenko Nova all went on clearance @ Michael's at the same time, so I'm wondering if there's a pattern.
  12. The issue lies with the fact this kit was originally released as an '83 Z/28 and had the L-?? induction with the dual snorkel air cleaner. I think there are a few options available in 1/24 as far as TPI is concerned, and Revell is about to reissue the '91 Firebird Formula kit, too.
  13. It's not a curbside, but it was originally a snap-tite model-- a high end snap-together model-- which has a full, separately molded exhaust system, front and rear suspension, bucket seats, and so on. The engine is a bit simplified, with maybe five parts total, but the dual snorkel intakes and air cleaner are HUGE, so they cover most of what you can see with the hood open. I guess I'd say this kit is a complex snap-together kit or a semi-simplified glue kit, but the body is very nice, and with basic detail painting and clean assembly, it ends up being a very nice looking model.
  14. Yes.
  15. I don't think so, but not totally sure. Did any of AMT's Gremlins include the straight six, or was that only found in the Pacer kits?
  16. Is this spoiler the same for coupes and hatchback LXs in 1:1?
  17. Yes, that's the one, and it was originally a die-cast bodied car (Vanishing Point and American Dreams packaging). There should be a review of it in this section.
  18. I don't think so, but here's some info which might help: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5533&st=0&p=38625&hl=+lx%20+spoiler&#entry38625 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=38999
  19. I know they converted the '68 Mustang and '70 Challenger T/A/R/T kits from diecast into all plastic, and, well, I'd rather they didn't do that ever again. I guess until I see they've specifically announced the Jeep Rubicon and '77 T/A have been converted to "all plastic", I will assume they'll be reissued as they were previously. I think it's kind of odd Revell would re-issue the 1/24 Monogram '78 Trans Am kit again, only to release a semi-new kit of essentially the same car in 1/25 scale, but maybe this is the 1/24 scale kit's last hurrah? Revell did have the 1/25 (former diecast) '70 Challenger in its lineup right alongside the 1/24 Monogram '70 Challenger T/A, though, so who knows.
  20. Maybe that's why I was a Monogram loyalist- no metal axles...just ill-proportioned bodies. I think my first MPC kit was the "Ram Tuff" Dodge longbed monster truck, but I also bought the '74 Pro Street 'Cuda, Jeep Commando (which did get built/finished), Toyota Supra, and the best (and last?) MPC kit, the '69 Olds Cutlass. I currently have two MPC '74 Dodge vans, a '77 Chevette, and a half-dozen ZIngers!, but I like to think I now have the skills and interest to make better what I couldn't or didn't want to thirty years ago.
  21. No, they're just as bad as the pickup rearends.
  22. I think that would be correct. Most teams which still ran BBCs in '70 still used a stock-based block. The 396 in the Revell '65 Chevelle Z-16 is a really good starting point.
  23. Not sure what year this one is, but it looks like it's within the correct year range. This one's now a 3' cube, and it had a slide in camper in the bed, so all I have a cab and in-cab detail shots, but it appears to be an F-350 Sport Custom? Album with large pics: http://smg.photobuck...kups/?start=all You know you're gonna add full heater box detail!:
  24. Are you hinting at the prices the '78/9 Ford 4x4 which Model King did a few years ago commanded not too long after it was released? I think that was more a case of pent up demand and the secondary marketplace setting the price. Very similar (though on a slightly longer timescale) to what happened to the RC2 reissue of the '84 GMC 4x4 kit...and maybe what will happen with the sold out/DC'd 1/16 Monogram Pete SSP kit.
