Bench racing the AMT surfer van

The 2011 issue of the Revell '48 Ford Coupe has the closest thing to those flames IMHO, but they are not as expansive as what the Hot Wheels Mopar van features. -

IIRC both the MOC '69 ("SS") Camaro and Firebird include the Pontiac OHC6 engine...some of us like them. 😁 I will agree with the quality of the MPC '69 F-bodies, however. The new for '90 1/25 Revell '69 Camaro left the MPC version in the dust, and while the Revell '68 Firebird wasn't quite on the same level IMHO, it's a significant improvement over the MPC stuff. That said, a 2'n'1 reissue of the MPC '69 Firebird with both Trans Am and Sprint versions would probably be warmly welcomed by many.

I think the main issue is the majority of the phone booth parts are made of clear plastic, and to produce all the necessary parts without distortion is not a low budget thing. I feel safe assuming @SteveG and the folks at Round2 thoroughly investigated the most cost effective way to get it done, and while the final choice doesn't appeal to me, I can respect the decision. The '63 Nova Chevy II wagon had a telephone theme going on and related parts included (phone, decals), so while that could have been a potential kit in which to include a phone booth (especially in light of the trailer inclusion), I'm not sure how well that, sold at a premium price, would've been received by the buying public. A cab forward Dodge A-100 pickup might fare better, at least in terms of a Ma Bell type service vehicle. Hopefully the thin areas of the bed floor were addressed, too.

MPC Mountain Goat Jeep Commando question.
Casey replied to Mike C.'s topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
It's the remnant grille from the pre-Commando version, before the real version was restyled. It will not be of much use unless you find an original MPC Jeepster body shell. -
Yes, the Chevy Titan 90 and GMC Astro 95 grilles interchange. The 1:1 truck's grille was enlarged at some point, but that change was never made to the model.
-
Financially, probably not, but it's really what makes this kit unique, and I would bet people would buy it just because a vintage style phone booth is included.

Thanks for the info, Steve. Out of curiosity, and maybe you can't or unwilling to say (totally fine, too), but are the ex-Lindberg/IMC kits still being molded at the facility in Kalkaska, MI? More of a curiosity for me to be honest, so no pressure to answer...or PM works, too.

MPC-988 1/25 George Barris Granny's Hot Rod $35.99 TBA
Casey replied to ss2000's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yes, these two kits share the same base, IIRC: -
I would assume the phone booth will be present, but the Ding-A-Ling(!) and the 'Frisco top we can live without. @SteveG any info you can share?
