  1. The two AMT versions are slightly different, one better looking/more nicely done than the other IMHO. I want to say the red plastic version from the Mach 1 was the better of the two? Maybe @Mark remembers. The first problem is finding at least one in good condition, with no damaged ribs nor a torn/chunked outer wheel lip area. Second problem is they are wildly unpopular, for the reason you mentioned-- rare wheel in the real world, only offered for a short time, etc. Similar to the Foresight Venture Drag Mag. Cool wheels, but few are aware they exist, and even fewer want a set in scale.

  4. The 1/16 MPC Petty Charger and General Lee kits includes a good vintage set of Goodyear Blue Streak Stock Car Special tires, all four identical, which is about the best kit-sourced tire you'll find for a late '60s/early '70s "stock car" IMHO. The 1/16 MPC Cobra tires are nice for a slightly later/more modern vehicle, but more square shouldered, and not quite as wide as the above mentioned Goodyears. These deep dish steel wheels will fit the above mentioned tires, too: https://www.ebay.com/itm/265200837898

Very sad to see this. I conversed many times with Lee via PM, and to say he will be missed is a huge understatement. ?
  9. The 1/25 Revell '40 Ford Standard coupe kit(s) include the 2-speed rearend, too.
  10. They were included in the AMT '69 Camaro annual kit. See here:
  11. The 2011 issue of the Revell '48 Ford Coupe has the closest thing to those flames IMHO, but they are not as expansive as what the Hot Wheels Mopar van features.

  15. IIRC both the MOC '69 ("SS") Camaro and Firebird include the Pontiac OHC6 engine...some of us like them. ? I will agree with the quality of the MPC '69 F-bodies, however. The new for '90 1/25 Revell '69 Camaro left the MPC version in the dust, and while the Revell '68 Firebird wasn't quite on the same level IMHO, it's a significant improvement over the MPC stuff. That said, a 2'n'1 reissue of the MPC '69 Firebird with both Trans Am and Sprint versions would probably be warmly welcomed by many.
  16. I think the main issue is the majority of the phone booth parts are made of clear plastic, and to produce all the necessary parts without distortion is not a low budget thing. I feel safe assuming @SteveG and the folks at Round2 thoroughly investigated the most cost effective way to get it done, and while the final choice doesn't appeal to me, I can respect the decision. The '63 Nova Chevy II wagon had a telephone theme going on and related parts included (phone, decals), so while that could have been a potential kit in which to include a phone booth (especially in light of the trailer inclusion), I'm not sure how well that, sold at a premium price, would've been received by the buying public. A cab forward Dodge A-100 pickup might fare better, at least in terms of a Ma Bell type service vehicle. Hopefully the thin areas of the bed floor were addressed, too.

  21. It's the remnant grille from the pre-Commando version, before the real version was restyled. It will not be of much use unless you find an original MPC Jeepster body shell.
