This is an older Jada. It took quite a while to find a couple of these that were low enough in price. I've detailed the white one and the blue one you see in some photos is as it came. I painted the roof blue, used AMT Chevelle hubcaps and Firestone Supreme tires, painted the engine, and added some detail to the chassis (see before and after photos), and added a better side mirror. I painted and detailed the interior using decals on the seats. I added foil trim to the body, blacked out the grille, foiled the aluminum panels on the bumpers so they aren't as shiny, and a few other things. For a cheap diecast I don't think it turned out too bad. The grille and front bumper are a bit off but from most angles the model looks okay. I hope you like the photos and feel free to comment. Thanks for looking -Rich

Some old ones--Dinky 1961 Pontiac ambulances (all original)

Thanks, my uncle had a white 61 wagon. I still have great memories of it. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing them! I'm not sure if it's accurate enough to copy to 1/25 scale. A 1/25 model would be great. Please post it if you ever do one. Sadly, I gave most of my original diecasts to my younger stepbrothers. Needless to say, they were all destroyed. -

Thank you for your remarks on these two and the others you commented on. I agree about the 1/43 kits AMT made. They did a great job on them and the 1/32 series too. -Rich -
Eric, I appreciate your comments. There will be more models coming. Rich

I always liked 61 Pontiacs and for years these were about the only ones available. They are pretty accurate, especially considering when they were made and that they were toys. Dinky made them in a number of variations in detail painting, shades of colors, finish on chassis, etc. If you look carefully you can see some of the differences. I wasn't sure if there would be much interest in diecasts this old but thought I'd give it a try. Feel free to comment, whether good or bad. -Rich

Thank you very much -
Hi Alan, I ordered the interiors from Modelhaus while they were still operating. I don't know of anyone making them right now but you might find one on Ebay if you keep looking. I wish I had taken good photos of the interior before I assembled the car. The dashboard is the best part. -Rich

Douglas, thanks for your very kind words, I appreciate them. I just saw your 59, it looks great too! I finally decided a year or so ago to build one of my NOS 59 Olds kits. It's painted in the correct Golden Mist Poly with a white roof. It's on my list to finish soon. I tend to paint bodies in groups and painted about 25 a year or so ago. Then I finish them one by one. Right now it's the Revell 62 Imperial 4 door. -Rich

Looks fabulous, Douglas. The colors are great and I love Oldsmobiles. I also like 4 doors (and any flat tops) -Rich.

Thank you Tom. I tend to like the less often seen cars. That goes for my models and my 1:1's. -Rich

Absolutely beautiful, Terry! I have come to really like these old Monogram kits too and have quite a few to build if I live long enough. I have an original built Red Chariot, Yellow Jacket, and Blue Beetle. I just polished the plastic on them, no need for paint.

Mario, sorry I got your name in the wrong place. I've been busy and haven't had as much time to post but if even one person enjoys seeing my models, I will keep showing them. Thanks for your comments. Right now I'm finishing a Revell 1962 Imperial 4 door hardtop. -Rich

Thanks John, I've posted 6 or 8 models over the last few weeks. Thank you David Thanks Rusty, I like all 4 doors including wagons, and have many. Thanks Patrick, yes, it's a Johan reissue. Thanks Chris Thanks Kevin, back in the 80's I was involved in manufacturing 1/43 white metal models as well as doing commissioned model builds. These Avantis are leftovers from a project we were working on. These are some I painted back then that I plan to finish someday. I have parts for 1-200 of these. Feel free to PM me if you want more info. -Rich Thanks Greg I appreciate it, Tom

Sorry, I haven't posted a model for a while as I've been busy with yard work, etc. I have posted a few modified diecasts, however. I have 2 of these reissue promo kits molded in white but found this one molded in the correct yellow so decided to build it instead of one of the others. My dad bought a new 56 Olds 88 4 door sedan in these same colors when I was 5 years old. My mom picked the colors. Some of these reissues had quite an offset at the parting lines. The Olds and the 59 Dodge were two of them. I did a lot of filing and sanding to get rid of them. If you've built one of these you know what I'm talking about. The yellow is just polished plastic, the white is lacquer. I used Modelhaus tires and interior. It has the promo style chassis it came with but I added wheelwells to it. The windows were a very poor fit. I cut out the side windows since I had an interior. I also had to do a lot of cutting, filing, and fitting to get the front and rear glass to fit in tight. I also added clear lenses to the chromed headlights. I've been wanting to do this one for years and am glad to finally have it on display. Thanks for looking. Questions and/or comments are welcomed. -Rich

My mother had the exact car in white with a red interior, blackwalls , and no bumper guards. I painted and detailed the interior, filed off the bumper guards, detailed the grille, got rid of the black dots in the headlights, and foiled over most all of the printed on chrome trim. The first 3 photos are how it came from the factory. Thanks for looking. Feel free to comment, good or bad. -Rich

I finally got around recently to converting this to a Coca Cola truck. I bought it a few years ago and it's been stored in my basement.. I removed the NAPA graphics and added the Coke decals. It goes well with my other Coke vehicles. The first photo shows what it looked like to begin with. Thanks for looking! -Rich

Hi David, I use Meguiars Plastx to polish plastic. Sometimes I wax the model after but don't think I did on this one. Thanks for your comment. -Rich
