1978 Ramcharger
Saltie Olds replied to Saltie Olds's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Oh, Nope. The hood looks like that, because I was trying to bend the hood, to fit the body better. But once I have everything done, shouldn’t be able to tell that I broke the hood at all. -

At some point, I’m going to get a CJ-7. I’m also going to do a model of another CJ-7, and build it as close to the way I’d want a real one. But that one won’t be lifted. -

The parts fit the kit well and when I received the parts, they were well packaged and well wrapped. -

Thank You. I’m $’10”, and think I’d be a lot more comfortable in a CJ-7 than a CJ-5. I like the looks of the CJ-7 more than the CH-5. -

Thank You. I’m thinking about dirtying it up some, after I get it finished, like it’s been going for some weekend fun, or keeping looking clean and new. -
Not exactly sure how I’m going to end up building this one, but for now, I know the color combo I’ll be going with, but it may change, not sure right now. I got the hood and the ‘77/‘78 Dodge grille from Ra-STi’s Scale Assessories. So far, I’m really happy how the parts are, and extremely happy with how I got the parts.

I was able to get more paint and finished painting it. Forgot about painting the dash, so I’m thinking I’ll leave it black, to match the seats. -

Got some clear on this. I ordered all three tubes of Tamiya polishing compound, I’m going to try my hand at using that on this build. -
Here’s the second part to my Chevy Stepside project. I’m going to be keeping this one as a 2wd, but I’m going to be lifting the truck and putting one a set of 31’s. If I’m able to, I’ll get a couple of the ‘95 GMC Sonoma kits and lengthen the Vortec Fuel injection and putting it onto this 454. If not, I’ll leave the fuel injection alone and have a blast building this truck.

Chevy Extended Cab

I remember reading about this truck in an issue of SAE. When I was able to, I ordered that same grille from Uptown Automotive. I had a ‘98 Chevy C2500, with the 8-Lug wheels, and want to build a model of how I wanted to get that truck all fixed up the way I wanted it. -

Thank You. Once I get my 1978 CJ-7 and my Saltie’s Syclone done, I’ll get a couple more of the AMT ‘95 GMC Sonoma kits, so that I could have all of the parts for the Part II of this truck, and start building that one as well. -

That’s an awesome rig you did. I’d love to get one of those and turn it into a compact motor home. I’d have a folding table and chairs on one side and a pair of folding up, to be flat along the side, twin size beds on the other side. I’d also have a small compact fridge in it as well. Maybe have a small sink as well. -

While looking at this decal sheet, I got the idea to build my own custom tonneau cover using these. I might also see about using some craft sticks and photoetch bed floor strips and make the tonneau out of real wood and metal strips. -

That Ram Club Cab, did you stretch the truck to a Club Cab? Or were you able to buy it somewhere? If you stretched it, great job. It looks like you bought it somewhere.

I’ll be using these wheels & tires, from the Revell ‘65 Chevy Stepside 2 ‘n 1. I’m wanting the rear end to sit up a lil taller, so I may end up using the rear springs from a MPC Deserter kit.
