missing versions in kits
Junkman replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
And what a sterling job they do in this respect lately. Not only gives me this the opportunity to avoid unneccessary rubbish, it also demonstrates their deep concern with retailers' - and most of all my - real estate. It also saves a large portion of cartonage (read: trees), printing, warehouse space, fuel and soon the term 'air mail' has to be redefined in the otherwise way too stout and rigid Encyclopedia Britannica, since air is what's predominantly mailed around nowadays. I could not possibly have come up with a better concept to maximise profit, while at the same time lower the cost for the end user and reduce the carbon footprint in the process. Walmart et al can sod right off! Where is Ralph Nader when we need him? -
Another long running version of the kit is the Mother's Cherry Pie, H1323, from the Seventies: It contains the same incorrect Sedan Delivery body as all the other Sedan Delivery issues and lacks the stock wheels. But it does include a neat Riley Two Port setup, that may or may not be included in the other versions:

What would YOU like to see as a model

Exactly. I love to dream about non existing plastic kits. I find it a lot more fulfilling than the four decades of disappointment that kit industry managed to provide. -

The way that model kit industry there comes across, nothing whatsoever justifies putting anything into production and we shall be grateful for what they do put into production, because they do this at a great personal loss just to please us. -

That 1/20 scale Revell taxi is actually an old Imai kit and always was a bit meh. FX3 would be nice, also a follow up on the Routemaster in form of an RT. And a Morris Minor/Traveller/Van. -
Hobbico - BANKRUPT!
Junkman replied to niteowl7710's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's exactly what I'm afraid of. -

Please include the Beaumont bits, bench and column change. -

I agree that an orderly E-Type kit would be quite a no brainer, especially since there isn't anything worth writing home about in diecast either. Since Revell.de also belongs to Hobbico, its future is anyone's guess, though. Also, knowing Revell, they will only do an E-Type after Tamiya and Hasegawa did. Until then sadly the Heller is the only game in town, although, as you say correctly, it's quite less than perfect. Revell.de has a proven track record of not producing kits of iconic cars, btw. Or don't you think their home country is awash with kittable iconic cars? -
I have one left from my childhood.

It's 1/27 scale. L: 206 mm (8.1 in) W: 89 mm (3.5 in) H: 69 mm (2.7 in)

Airfix Bentley Blower in 1/12

You can make vehicle enquiries for UK registered cars here: https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ UR6571 appears to be off the (UK) road since 1990, probably the year it was exported (although it has no export marker). UU5872 is alive and well in the UK. -
I had no idea they are using salt in Finland.

1/25 AMT '62 Pontiac Catalina Polyglas Gasser II
Junkman replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I think this notion about tools being updated from one year to the next is vastly exaggerated. It might have happened in a few cases, when the differences were miniscule, but a '62 Pontiac tool has never ever morphed into a '63 one. -

So it's safe to say that the original '62 Bonneville tooling, last seen in 1969, is no longer with us. -

One would think so, although I have my doubts meanwhile. ICM Holding did indeed 'blow up' their 1/35 Opel Admirals and Mercedes G4s to 1/24 scale, parts layout and all. But why did they stop there, despite they said otherwise a few years back? They'd have the Kapitän, Kadett/Olympia, Packard V12, Mercedes 320 and 770K and a plethora of wonderful lorries to do the same with, but instead opted for newly tooling a series of 1/24 Model Ts, which significantly differ from their 1/35 counterparts. They even released an early post war Magirus S330 lorry in 1/35, something that would definitely sell better in 1/24, no? -

A 1/24 diecast 105E will be released in the current Hachette Auto Vintage Deluxe series in France. Since they recently announced that they bump it to 80 cars, the chances for a Cortina are actually quite high as well. I doubt it'll be a 4 door though. It'll be either a Lotus, or a long roof, I bet. -

No, the Polyglas came out in 1967 and the Polyglas GT RWL in 1969. -
It's actually based on the Fiat 600, not the 500 [/anorak mode].

Also, am I the only one who finds that Dirty Donny "artwork" a bit pretentious?
