Actually, it is not that bad. Connolly leather usually retails at about £3-5 per square foot and it is also used by many other auto makers, like VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, and many others. It was also used in my Rover.

I know that envy is one of the deadly sins, but I see myself being forced into it over this kit. There seems to be a wealth of Japanese 'street scene' kits we have absolutely no clue about, except those few Fujimi and Kawai kits that pop up regularily. Unfortunatley, the Japanese hardly use Ebay, for them Yahoo auctions is the main private trading platform. Since I know only very, very little Japanese, it is very difficult for me to navigate and I - of course - don't understand anything of what is written in the auctions themselves. But the stuff you see there, is totally mindboggling. We are only exposed to the tip of the iceberg, if even that. I have been trying to get access to the Japanese market for decades, but it has so far eluded me except for the usual online stores you all are familiar with as well.

And these are the 1/20 LS kits that were reissued by Arii: Note: - there is also a '75 Nissan Gloria, but since it is the same car as the Cedric with just a different badge, I passed on it. - there is also a '84 Toyota MR2 which I skipped just because I don't like the car at all. Something I sure will regret in later life. All these kits are currently available from the usual Japanese online dealers.

The Leeza is currently available: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10001068 A lot of the LS 1/20 scale kits were quite recently reissued. The molds seem to have ended up with two manufacturers, Arii (the 'big' cars) and Aoshima (the 'Kei' cars). The Cervo was reissued by Aoshima: The series also comprised these: They should be still available from various Japanese online dealers. That Datsun van has been issued by Gunze Sangyo with the same box art. Now, that M4S kit I have never seen or even heard of before.

Some of them I find on the net and repost. But most of them I actually have. I don't have the Kleeware BMW, but I have the Airfix one. I have a lot of kits I don't post, because I don't consider them that obscure, despite they probably are. I mean, I can't post them all. Plus, I don't want to appear using this thread to be a show off. Oh, and yes, I ordered the Aoshima Sushi kits from HLJ, but they haven't arrived yet, so what I posted is a repost from the internet. And yes, I have a quite eclectic motorcycle kit collection of which fairly little is posted so far.

Compared with my '61 Imperial brakes they feel like Formula One.

Well, it clearly proves that no money in the world buys you taste, style, and dignity. I find the car exceedingly tacky.

I don't buy into the Hudson hype. I think many are so deprived that they would clamour for ANYTHING newly released.

It could well die off if the kit makers keep ignoring a complete demograhic for much longer. A few artists don't keep an industry humming.

I'm a pacifist... I've seen the Lindberg reissues. They were tied in with the recent pirate craze triggered by The Pirates Of The Carribean trilogy in four movies, right? For the live of me, I wouldn't have the skill to paint these realistically. That's Dr. Crankenstein's territory.

The Doctor tells the truth. People have been building models for tens of thousands of years and it will never stop. I think we are too focussed on car kits when we refer to 'the model industry'. The big profits come from other categories of models. And it isn't even airplanes, tanks, or ships, either. I once read, the best selling plastic kits of all time are buildings for model railway layouts. This is a billion Dollar business worldwide every year (no wonder the Germans are in it big time).

Best seems to have made other intersting stuff, too. Apparently some of the Best tooling ended up with Aurora?

Why does that sound so oddly familiar? In model kit terms, it's currently any AMT 61-69 Lincoln sedan on Ebay. I'm looking for a restorable builder. Either the seller won't post overseas, or postage is 53$ (btw, a realistic postage fee for one kit from the US to England is around 13$), or it's bid into nirvana by geeks who have more money than braincells. Now, since I have all of you so nicely assembled here, does anyone out there want to part with one?

They should have started this already. I haven't bought a new release American kit in what must be five years. What the US model industry fails to realize is that I am the generation they are currently losing, despite I'm alive, well, and have spendable income for at least another quarter century (statistically speaking). My money goes to Japan, and China (for diecasts). And the American model industry does bugger all about it.
