Thanks. I enjoyed making it more authentic.

Im really happy with how this turned out. Also i know the car Elvira drove in the movie was actually a 59 but Monogram used there 58 kit. So i did remove the 58 trim off the doors and T Bird emblems off of the fenders. I added model car garage T Bird emblems on the doors which 59 T Birds have as well as the chrome trim with BMF and since her car has the custom spider web grill piece that covers the 58 grill that did not matter. Although the 58s tailights are slightly different than 59 but it still has 58 tailights. Aftermarket parts i used. A Morgan auto pre wired distributor. Morgan battery cables. Detail master carb linkage. Scratchbuilt ignition coil. Slixx oil filter decal. Gofer gauge decals in dash. Scratchbuilt valve stems. Scratchbuilt floor mats. Embossing powder for carpeting. BMF for all tbe chrome trim. The leopard print decals for interior thankfully were in good shape but were a little brittle. I am glad i found the later release of this kit plus bonus of figure of Elvira. I bought kit from modelcarsandmore out of Nebraska. Used Tamiya gloss black for the body paint. Being a Monogram kit the fits were great and great detail. It was alot of fun. After watching movie in the fall i wanted to find the model kit. Elvira is a cool classy attractive lady and so is her car. I think Elvira herself would be happy with this.

Huge collection!

And would it be somewhat reasonable?

That sounds exactly like what i had to deal with. So to even get them to fit like they did which still isnt great. I used my dremel tool with a sanding wheel and ground down most of the bottom and both sides in door jams. And i used sanding files on doors near hinge area. All that and they still do not fit great. It must just be a flaw when they engineered the tooling back in the 60s. It sucks because its a really nice kit overall. And overall no fit issues except the all to important doors.

Thanks

I usually try to do that in general. I figured well i will just put a different spin on it. Thank you!

I went into this project looking to build a nice clean 55 Chevy. But i could not get the doors to fit worth a darn even just to glue them in because they are made to open. I did alot of grinding and sanding still no luck. So i went another route i made it into a beater. A rust free California car used to drive around junkyard pulling parts. I never build my models like this but it was fun actually. I made some dents. Also added bullet holes. Used Testors dullcote. Many aftermarket detail parts along with scratchbuilt parts. Also my first 1/16 scale build.

I was wondering how to fix the poor fit for the doors? They do not line up worth a darn. And door panel is in like it should be. Any helpful suggestions?

Does anyone know if there are any 1/16 scale Cragar SS mags? I would not mind putting them on my big scale Bel Air.

I finished my near 3 month build of my 89 Chevy. It was a fun build to because my Grandpa had a 93 GMC 1500 2wd so very similar i used to go with him to check crops with all the time as a kid or go with him for other farm stuff. I spent alot of time with him in that truck. Great memories! I painted it Gun metal and silver metallic with Testors and Tamiya rattle cans. Testors dull cote for grill. Then for interior flat gray and i mixed flat gray and flat white to make a ash gray. I opted for vinyl floor as i love the one in my 16 Silverado. Many scratchbuilt items such as. Mud flaps. Antenna. Floor mats. Turn signal lever. Tilt wheel lever. Oil dipstick. Brake line from master cylinder. Throttle cable on tbi. Pcv valve. Valve stems. Then several aftermarket parts. Morgan auto hei distributor. Detail master wire looms. Detail master hose clamps. Detail master speakers in door panels. Gofer racing radiator hoses and battery cables and hose for charcoal canister and windshield washer fluid. Fireball model works tire decals. Best model car parts decals for dash decals and MI plate and Heartbeat of America vanity plate. Bare metal foil for wheel well moldings. Also i painted bed area black to look like a spray in bedliner. And from my spare parts i added a trailer hitch. It was a very fun build and it is a quality model kit. It is too bad they modified tooling so the long box version is not available anymore. One of my favorite Chevy trucks. Growing up in the 90s especially in a area were alot of folks worked and still do for GM these were all over as its mostly GM vehicles period. And i rode in many from the 88 thru 98 generstion. My grandpa. Uncles and many friends parents owned these chevy and gmcs. I owned a 94 ext cab myself in the past. Alot of nostalgia for me with this project! That makes it extra fun i learned when you have so many fond memories of a vehicle.

For my next project when im done with my 89 Chevy i wanna build my 1/16 55 Bel air. This will be my 1st 1/16 scale build. I want to paint it gloss turqoise and gloss white. How many spray cans do you think i will need?

I would like to get my hands on one of these. My dad had a 98 he bought brand new when i was 10 i would like to build this as close as i can to that despite being a 95 with slightly different grill. Does anyone have one they would like to sell? This pic is one of the same i found online

This is beutiful! I have always loved the late 70s thru 80s Caprice. I remember growing up in 90s and early 2000s i knew a few that owned these and they were such nice cars! I love the color combo. I remember one down the road that was copper and light brown i loved it. These are under valued cars. Great job! It makes me wanna tackle that project.
