  1. Friend of mine owned a body shop, I guess he had some Mystic left over after repairing a damaged Cobra. BASF kept a pretty tight grip on this stuff cuz the same material in the paint wuz also used in the printing of U.S. money. Usually a rep from BASF or sometimes the Secret Service would supervise the the repairs and account fer the all the paint, used and unused.
  2. Built as a "what if", as Cobra Convertibles were not available with Mystic paint. Wheels are finished with Alclad Chrome but a bit overdone to replicate polished aluminum.
  3. Revell '62 Impala kit, Jack Smith decals. On the real car "992 B/FX" wuz printed on paper and attached with masking tape, I replicated this with some clear decal film painted to look like masking tape. Front and rear suspensions required much mods to get the right stance.
  4. Sooo....after some research and speaking to an old kit authority friend of mine, chrome exhaust trumpets were included in the original issue of this kit. On the first page of this thread there is a chrome tree from an original kit, in the upper right corner next to the grille and front bumper are the two exhaust trumpets. As to why they are not mentioned in the instructions one possible explanation is that these parts were intended for the promo and were accidentally included in the glue kit ( promos of the '66 fastback had separate chrome exhaust trumpets installed) but that's just speculation. My friend also said, but I could not personally confirm that these exhaust trumpets can be found in the AFX/Altered wheel base (Street Freak) Mustang kits of recent issue. Guess my CRS isn't as bad as I thought.
  5. Uline carries many sizes of white mailer boxes...available in bulk
  6. Just checked my original kit...no exhaust tips, coulda sworn they were in the original...evidently I've suffered another CRS attack.
  7. So no exhaust tips? They were in the original kit. Rear valence looks goofy without em.
  8. Built when the kit wuz first issued. Too much detail in the trunk to leave it covered so I opened it up.
  9. Thank you fer yer comment, the paint is Testors Metallic Gold enamel with Testors HI Gloss clear enamel overcoat, no buffing or polishing just waxed when the paint cured. As I recall the color wuz a close enuff match to factory color Y4 Gold metallic.
  10. Just a fun quick build.
  11. Monogram kit of Ray Fahrner's wild show car, built outta the box just fer fun. Kit came with a skeleton in a Cowboy hat called the Bone Ranger but I Dunno where he got to.
  12. Chezoom Quickbuilder. This wuz an experiment, wuz playing around with candy paints to see what would happen.
  13. As I recall the decals came from "The Last Detail". They made detail decals for many muscle type cars. Dunno if they're still in business, I had heard that some one in Australia wuz making the decals but that wuz some time ago.
  14. Kinda sorta hand painted...I use an old cassette tape player. I installed a wheel in the capstan so I can place tires onto it, I push play and set a brush with color (acrylic paint) onto the tire and it makes perfect circles for redlines or what ever color I want.
  15. Revell kit built totally box stock, no additional parts, just paint, foil, and decals. Finished to replicate a "factory fresh" Dart. Chassis features factory paint codes that identify the parts on the production line for specific builds and inspection paint daub marks on various fasteners. Wheel wells have "Body Schutz" sound deadner applied. Red lines are hand painted, front and rear suspensions have factory correct finishes such as the front lower control arm "Cosmoline" coating. Built this kit when it wuz first issued.
  16. I like it.
  17. I like it.
  18. Built from an original issue IMC kit circa 1966ish molded in metallic red. Wuz state of the art at the time, opening doors with operating windows, steering operable from the steering wheel, opening hood and trunk under rear bumper. Presure relief panel between tail lights is operable and headlights been made posable. Body has not been painted, just polished and waxed.
  19. Monogram kit of Alan Kulwicki's T-Bird built Box Stock.
  20. Tasca Ford T-bolt, built from an original Revell kit when it wuz first issued. Finished in correct Vintage Bugandy metallic with correct white side trim.
  21. '65 Mustang Fastback in Poppy Red. Missing Link resin conversion kit done as a curbside with some added details.
  22. Revells Willys Gasser with Slixx decals. Body is modified as wuz typical of many Willys Gassers, rocker panels removed and front and rear fenders shortened.
  23. Built from a mint, first issue original AMT kit. I used a combination of the original decals and Slixx decals from the Polar Lights Gas Ronda Mustang Funny Car. Finished in Ford Poppy Red with clear topcoat. Added some minor detailing. All chrome and metal finishes are Alclad.
