  1. Wow, one of the nicest weathering I have seen! I really like the idea of a replaced fender and hood. Gives a whole lot more realism to the model. Well done!
  2. Wow, I like it a lot! Weathering is excellent, not too much or too little. Also tools and other stuff in the bed is just perfect! One of the nicest weathered builds I have seen.
  3. Really nice build and definitely makes honor to your dad's Vette. A crazy idea came into my mind; how about building also the other versions of the car on your dad's 52 years ownership?
  4. Really great and unique built! I especially like that crazy engine. Well done!
  5. Pure perfection!! Excellent job all-round with spot on color and wheel&tire choice.

    32 Ford 5w Coupe

Thanks all for very nice comments! I realized that I had taken the pictures before installing front hub caps. Someone mentioned that this overlooked kit. I don't think this is a bad kit but should not be compared to more modern Revell kits. At least the chopped body is OK and saves a lot of work.
  7. Wow! I like everything on this build! I have this kit in my stash and this gave me lot of inspiration.
  8. I think I haven't posted this one here eventhough it has been finished some three years ago. I got this AMT American Graffiti Coupe from my friend and as I have never been big fan of that yellow film car I wanted to do something else. I got also a bunch of glue bombs and spareparts and there was several Monogram Lilcoffins in pieces so I decided to use the engine and wheels and tyres from those. I also installed the Lilcoffin rear seat and door panels. Dash was modified with gauge panel from that part lot, it might be from Monogram Boot Hill Express. Taillights are scratch built from clear rod and BMF. Suspension was slightly lowered by cutting the rear coils and modifying the front beam and thinning the upper leaf. Paint is a hardware store rattle can metallic blue with clear coat. It is straight out of the can without wet sanding and polishing. Thanks for looking Kimmo
  9. Great build and very nice paint job. I really like your idea of not gluing the bubble top so you can change back to the original one too. I have the kit in my stash too but haven't yet decided what to do with it. Bubble top is certainly quite long and I used it for 60 Ford custom build. Had also a plan to cut in half and add chrome bands but left it as it is.
  10. Really good looking 59 and great color choice! I have owned a light blue and white 2dht Galaxie over 30 years and if I would ever change the color it would be Geranium. I try to find my self restoration AMT kit to build a model of my own car but no luck so far. Kimmo
  11. Wow, really nice job there especially with the BMF. It is great to see these old rare models which I didn't even knew to exist.
  12. Really great looking build! Eventhough it sounds like a difficult kit to build this nice example makes me want to build a one too. It might be difficult to find, I assume?
  13. Made my first order a while ago and couldn't be happier with the product or the service. Even the shipment cost to Finland was reasonable. We will certainly buy some more in the future! Interested to see the new products coming up. Kimmo
  14. Thank you all for nice comments! Great to see that you have liked this bit of a strange idea. We have planned to take this to a model car show and make a display with mirrors so that you can see both sides and underside at the same time. Kimmo&Henri
  15. I am not 100% sure if this Superbird is the oldest or is it AMT 57 Chevy but 99% says that this is the one. Atleast it is the first one I have painted with paintbrush. It also has the first spark plug wires I have made. Built at the age of 13 or 14 in early 90s. I didn't place the decals back then but my son added those few years ago. Glad that it had survived.
  16. I got this idea of building a 50/50 model (where one side is out of the box and the other side is build as a model car should be built) so that it would be easier to explain what this hobby is all about. It took me almost 35 years to do this and most probably wouldn't have done it unless my son hadn't encouraged to do it so we decided to do this as a joint project. We went through our stash to figure out a good starting point as we thought that a kit with too much or less details isn't suitable and we found none but then we run into this Revell kit in local vintage shop and there it was. Boxy body style, separate door panels and enough detail in chassis and engine. We started by carefully marking the parts which should be fully painted and which just half painted and made sure we paint the correct side. Then a lot of masking was needed before the painting could start. Body is painted with rattle can yellow I found from hardware store discount. Color is surpringly close to Chevy's original light yellow. I was also surprised how well it polished with just Autoglym Resin polish wax. Chassis and interior parts are rattle can satin and flat black and rest is brush painted with Revell and Humbrol paints. Where we had the most challenges was the BMF work and we are not fully happy how it turned out but it didn't get better with second or third try either. Seems like the foil is not as good as it used to be. Only change for the kit's parts was the driver side tires which we replaced with AMT redline ones. Finally some wiring was done to the engine bay but after that little bit lost the energy and the brake lines were left undone. All and all this was a fun project but definetely it was not just half the work compared to a fully built model! Kimmo and Henri
  17. Wow Ville, great build. This is really out side of the box! Hyvä Suomi!
  18. Wow, very nice and period correct build, well done. Engine, top chop and color are perfect. My son has had this kit in que for a while and hopefully he starts it right away when he sees pictures of this one!

    My 2024 builds

I got surprisingly many builds finished in 2024, altogether four. All of these were on the bench way more than a year so my building speed really isn't very fast. Kimmo
  20. Trying to save a glue bomb Mercury that was terribly chopped. Lots of work behind and now I finally reached the point to make a first mock up, although hubcaps and tires most probably will be changed.
  21. As a big fan of Sopranos and Goodfellas and ofher mafia movies I really like the subject of this diorama! Not something you see often. And a nice execution too! Kimmo
  22. American car guy got out of the comfort zone... This is an Imai 72 Skyline which I got as a partly build project. As there is no engine or separate suspension in the kit and I got also a built Tamiya Mazda RX7 so I decided to put the chassis and engine from that to the Skyline. Way more work than I thought but now the modifications are done to get the wheels in place. Those are Aoshima 14" with spare part box tires. Lot of work still ahead. My son is building a newer Skyline so we have bit of a competition ongoing.
  23. Really nice body work Greg. I am very interested to follow this as I just finished my version of this kit. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/195678-1954-chevrolet-el-nomadino/#comment-2934972 I think the design in the AMT roof is really good and does not need anything to look like it was designed by GM. I decided to leave vent windows but removing works also well and makes the roof look a bit lower. I think the front window in the kit is a bit too low compared to original Nomad but looks nice in the pick up conversion. Then again in Monogram 57 the whole roof it is way too high and I think it is difficult to build a nice model out of that. Tbird roof makes me wonder would it work as a shortened two seater roadster?
  24. Thanks all for your nice comments! This was a fun project but maybe I should have started from a fresh kit. I still dig the Motorama idea and maybe that should have deserved a better executuion with better parts. But for sure this particular kit will not be built for the sixth time! Kimmo
  25. Thanks all for nice comments for Henri's build. He has lots of projects ongoing and bunch of ideas for the coming projects. We'll keep building and posting! Kimmo
