Thanks guys. Yeah, that radiator is pretty tall. I was looking at that and trying to visualize how you'd see where you're going. It would be difficult, but do-able...
  2. Cool. So rules are set. But lets push the end day out a little for those who take more time to build... Lets say March 1st???? I like the idea of writting up a description at the end about the car... We need to start a thread in the On The Workbench section for this I think. Should we start that on Aug 21st or 22nd? Let the Pain begin!
  3. Worked on the body a little. Still need to finish the bondo work and sanding... as well as improve the fit. But here's a few pics of the progress so far...

Posted this a few weeks ago with bad/blurry pics. ... formerly Black T, now it's the FREAK! Just finished up this little monstrosity. Had to use the vid camera for pics because the wife has the nice dig camera with her in Argentina, so I'll end up snapping new pics when she gets back. But for now here's a peek into what I've been working on for the last month... Started with the Lindburgh Tall T model. Only used the body, front suspension and radiator from this kit. Tires/wheels from the AMT 34 Ford kit along with the flathead. Frame and floor board were hand made. It's hard to see in these pics but there's black-on-black scallops on the side (I like how these came out). Haven'y pit a license plate on it yet... but it'll have one when I re-shoot the pics. Well, here's the better pics. Thanks for looking. Eric
  5. I don't care about purchasing vs handmaking weapons/armor. I thought it would be fun to handmake them and see what everyone comes up with. Lets just make the weapons/armor up to the builder. How's this? - curbside is fine (since these cars are mostly "external appearance" driven) - copying movie cars is fine, just identify it - cars, pickups, vans, etc... are fine... anything goes. - no military models (how's that?) - any scale except 1:1 (Should this be limited to 1:24/1:25 scale?) - Deadline... ? Dec 31st? (Should we move this out for Ollie F?)
  6. PAINKILLER is AWESOME! I LOVE IT! That's exactly what I had in mind for this. I'm glad everyone is as excited as I am about doing this. I agree we should agree (?) on guidelines. These are the ones I suggested... - curbside is fine (since these cars are mostly "external appearance" driven) - all external weapons and armor must be handmade (yes/no ?) - copying movie cars is fine, just identify it - cars, pickups, vans, etc... are fine... anything goes. - no military models (how's that?) - any scale except 1:1 (Should this be limited to 1:24/1:25 scale?) - Deadline... ? Dec 31st? (Should we move this out for Ollie F?) The idea/purpose of the cars, once built, should be to compete in a Death Race. They can be prepped to look like they've completed death races already or as if they're going to compete for the first time. Let me know if these need to be tweaked. What's your preference?
  7. Interested builders so far... kasteer (likely) evilone diymirage Aaronw ######'n Blaque LOL... I thought that 1:1 comment would be funny...
  8. Glad to see others are into this idea as well. I've never been in a build off before and don't feel like my skills are up to snuff with everyone else's around here (also my time will be limited over the next 2 years as I'm starting my Masters degree next week), but I think this idea would be great build-off material. I would love to see this happen as a build-off... So how does setting up a build-off work? I'll make an attempt: Interested builders so far... kasteer (likely) evilone diymirage Aaronw diymirage mentioned a list of allowed cars. I don't believe in limiting creativity... pick what you want. My suggestions for guidelines... - curbside is fine (since these cars are mostly "external appearance" driven) - all external weapons and armor must be handmade - copying movie cars is fine, just identify it - cars, pickups, vans, etc... are fine - no military models (how's that?) - any scale except 1:1 - Deadline... ? Dec 31st? any suggestions? Anything I missed? What do you think?
  9. Saw the preview a few times for the new Death Race movie and went to the web site over the weekend. Those cars look cool! I've since been tossin around the idea to build a "Death Race" car. I'm not inspired to do a build-off or anything, but I'm thinking it would be a cool subject for a build-off. After the build-off someone could photoshop all the cars into one action pic... I don't know... Just thought it would fun.

  11. Cool! Great work!!!!!
  12. Got the suspension done and soaking up some primer now. Has a good stance I think. I'll try to take a photo or two tomorrow if the sun is out(taking the day off to finish sealing my asphault driveway in between storms). I cut out some skirts to test out the look and fit with those large tires... will be testing it tomorrow when the primer is dry. Now I need to start thinking about how to make the grill/lights look MEAN! Thanks for all the support! Eric
  13. Nice! I'm likin that look. Thanks for putting it in picture form for me. It's easier to see than in my head. I'm going to be working on that this evening after work!!!!
  14. Thanks all. I'm glad ya'll like the chop. ######'n... I like that look with the fenders opened up (thanks for the visual... the stance is perfect). Problem I see is the front opening will be opened up all the way over the fender and the front fender will be almost non-existent. I'll look at this when I get down to the garage... maybe I can make this work somehow. Since you're a photo-shop guru... can you see how it'll look with the rear fender well closed up? Just a thought.
  15. SWEET CHEMARO!!!!! Great work!
  16. These aren't the carton wheels... they're from a donk kit. It would be much easier to lower it with smaller tires, but I want the look of huge tires tucked up inside and slammed at the same time. Yeah, it's not to streetable, but it's a look I want to go for. I hadn't thought of trimming the tire down. hmmmm... Gotta ponder that a little. I messed with the suspension a little this evening and after a bunch of trimming I have it pretty low, but not low enough. Thinking I'm going to move the spindles up a little to get it down some more, but any lower in the front and I need to trim the body (or the tire). May leave the rear up a little, but will need to see after I drop the front more. Thanks for all the ideas and feedback.
  17. That looks great. I like the stance you put it in!
  18. Yes. They were filming her in DC and Philly in June....
  19. I had thought about leaving it open on top, but I like your reverse scoop idea. I'm thinking of closing up the rear fender too if I can get it low enough to look cool.... After looking at it more, I'm going to have to see exactly how low I can get it suspension-wise... then work on the body.
  20. Unbelievable build! Detail is out of this world! Sorry you dropped it. But looks AMAZING!!!!!!
  21. My hearse story... hang with me on this one... Had a flight cancelled which re-routed me to Charlotte airport last year. Was hanging at the bar when a lady sat next to me. She turned out to be an author (yes, of books... Lisa Rojak). Well we talked and it turns out she has 2 hearses... ok... not a great story (highly abreviated), but still a story...
  22. Ok. Need some input on this. Starting this '66 Chevelle Station Wagon from Big Lots ... Chopped the top and opened up the windows on the side. I want it even lower, but the front wheels are resting on the underside of the body already. If the front goes lower the wheels will be sticking up over the hood... which might look cool ('m thinking about it... ). Ideally the front will be just above the ground and the back slightly higher... as long as I can figure our how to get it to sit how I want. I'm thinking of doing some body work to the front too to make it look menacing... maybe add a little "brow" work to the headlights and re-do the grill. I'm thinking of doing the top half in black and the bottom half in either fard purplr or dark burgundy or maybe a bright orange...? Any feedback? (Please)

  24. WOW! Cool firetruck. I like the hoses and details. You've really captured the look of a real truck.
  25. Cool drawings. I like the third/bottom one. I like how the whole body is sunken down but the fenders are still normal height.
