  1. Thanks all. I am working on engine details now. The belt/ alternator/ air pump are completely on opposite side from real car. I’ve been looking through all my kits/ parts for something that is close to no avail. It looks like another fab work session. I am currently fabbing up AIR tubes to the manifolds now.
  2. I am kit bashing the 72 MPC Charger Rallye body/ interior to the 71 AMT R/T chassis to duplicate one of my old cars I owned. My car had the standard grille, not hidden headlights. I have highly modified the 71 grille, but not very happy with it. Is anybody making one yet,, or willing to try casting one?
  3. More: drilled out dash ends, made vents from styrene tube, thinned out and made vent blades from flash pieces cut down. I ground down ‘67 seat patterns, made ‘68 seat patterns, flocked floor and painted over flocking with flat black. My hands are not as steady as they used to be, the seats will have to do, as I don’t plan on competing with it. I just picked this up again after a 30 year hiatus. I still have to order the PE sets for the car for the steering wheel, emblems, marker lights. Next step, working on making A.I.R. Injection lines for engine. I am literally making this as the second day my father owned car with only Torq Thrusts and traction bars added at that time. After warranty expired, he put in L88 cam, headers, exhaust, made his own 442 style ram air.
  4. Some more progress, sanded off lower chrome trim from ‘67 to match ‘68 RS chrome and painted in semi gloss black.
  5. I am in the process of converting the Revell 67 Nickey Camaro to a 68 RS/SS 396 L89 to replicate the Camaro my father special ordered in late 67. I purchased the Nickey, the Revell 67 Camaro SS so I could have proper hood, exhaust, manifolds, the fake intake screens from 69 SS kit for the hood, and after several hours of massaging the door panels in the Nickey kit to match the 68 deluxe interior, purchased the Monogram 69 Pace Car for the door panels and other odds and ends. The Pace Car door panels needed to be modified at the kick panels and rear side panels by cutting them from the Nickey kit, changing the pattern and getting rid of power window switches. I then attached them to the 69 door panels. The seats I am using are from the Nickey kit, as they were the closest to the 68 deluxe. I sanded off the old patterning, measured out new pattern lines and ground them into the seats( It worked out to .070” each space to match pattern). I still have a little more finessing, but just about there. I have drilled spots on both sides of dash for Astro vents that I will put in. As for the body, I made .010x.020 strips to complete top of door trim, eliminating vent windows. The tail panel is terrible for taillight placement, as the openings are slanted high toward quarter panel and low toward gas cap. I filed opposite ends and filled where space was to correct as much as possible. Much more filing would have gone into trunk lid line. I am ordering a photo etch kit for 68/9 Nova to get marker light bezels. I also ordered a set of Keith Marks Sport Stripe decals in white. Hopefully they work, as they were designed for the AMT kit. I painted body in 68 Chevy Matador Red Lacquer from MCW. I assembled and wired the engine, only to find out ignition wires were too tall for hood placement, so I am getting a distributor that will work. That is the progress to this moment
  6. Big shout out to Tarheel Rick. He shipped a console to me lickity split without wanting anything in return. A big thumbs up!
  7. You are quite right, all the newer Revell 69’s I saw were standard door panels. I just bit the bullet and purchased a sealed pace car. It will save a ton of work. I am going to have so many Camaro models, I won’t know what to do with them. Thank you for all you did there.
  8. For those that attempt to do this, it takes a lot of work to convert the interior, especially if going for deluxe interior. I have 1 door panel that just needs a little more finessing( pictured). Keith Marks does not have marker light decals, he also can’t guarantee the fitment of sport stripes, as they were tailored to the AMT unit. I ordered them anyway. I was speaking with my mother about the car, as my father passed in 2008, she says she might have original order sheet yet! Car was $4600 in 68! If she has window sticker it might help me locate car if it still lives, as it probably is a 1 of 1 with all the options it had. I know I spent many thrill rides in it.
  9. The problem is in the tail panel itself, I had to file opposite corners of the openings and fill to correct. Thanks for the heads up.
  10. Model Car Garage has the markers on the 68 Nova set( they are the same on real cars- the rear ones, but there are 4). I did reach out to Keith Marks this morning, I have not gotten a reply yet. I will let every one know if he has anything for market decals. I had to get in touch with him to see if he could do white sport stripes as he only lists black and red. As for the interior, yes, a ton of work. My father’s car had deluxe interior, I now have about 5 hours of work into remaking one door panel( getting close now). I already drilled out the dash to make the vents. I figure I will probably have 25- 30 hours on interior mods alone. Thank you for the info. The pics are after about 2 hours into door panel.
  11. Thank you, I will look into fixing that on body mock up. Interior is going to take some time. I already have over 3 hours into 1 door panel. I will be posting in WIP soon
  12. I remember the car well, I was a kid when he picked it up from dealer. It had ivory/ black deluxe interior, I am reconfiguring the door panels right now. I drilled out the dash to put in vents for strato air. Another thing, the 67 console is different- round gauges instead of rectangular. Does anybody have a console from the 69 that they would want to swap? I already have about $150 in this with the paint I got from MCS and I still have to hit Keith Marks up for the Sport Stripes and the air cleaner decal.
  13. I am trying to recreate a car my father special ordered. It was a 68 RS/SS Camaro with L89( aluminum head 396/375) with the M22 Muncie, Matador Red w/ White Sport Stripe. I know that AMT does have the 68 kit, but I have already purchased both the Nickey and the Revell 67 Camaro SS 396 kits so I could have the proper hood, grille, tail lights and exhaust manifolds. I have also picked up the proper fake hood velocity stacks. I have already modified the upper belt molding to get rid of the vent window, but I can’t seem to find decals for the marker lights. I don’t have a problem reworking the seats for proper pattern. What other issues should I be concerned with and any ideas where I can find the marker lights?
  14. Hi, I’m Rich from central NC. I was an avid builder when much younger, now getting back into it with a decent stash of kits from past/ present.
  15. I just wanted to post that I requested the Pontiac Rally II wheels in 1/16. In a matter of days they were to my door. A+ thank you once again
