68 AMT Roadrunner to 68 GTX conversion
Scott Eriksen replied to Scott Eriksen's topic in WIP: Model Cars
68 Road Runner to 68 GTX conversion update > body shot with MCW 6753E Dark Green Metallic enamel with hardener (this is a match for 68 Plymouth GG1 Dark Green Metallic) .I was going to use MCG Vinyl Top Tape kit (which is only available in black or white ) but instead chose to go with MCW 1350 Black Texture Lacquer after applying Evergreen #101 styrene strips for the seams. After that had dried I shot it with MCW 6851 Dark Green Metallic lacquer which is a darn close match to the dark green vinyl top option that was on my car. I also sub assembled the inner fenders/core support/firewall and lower K frame (which will be painted black along with the torsion bars and shot that body color with overspray. Sub-assembled the 440 and shot that with MCW 1406E Chrysler Turquoise enamel . Next up will be painting the interior green with light and dark green seats ,then BMF the body and paint tail light panel insert Argent Silver . I'm also going to use the 8-3/4 rear from the AMT Duster kit instead of the Dana 60 ,,I'll have to narrow the 8-3/4 a bit. -
68 AMT Roadrunner to 68 GTX conversion

............some pics,,,has to be wet sanded yet and another round of primer. The front grill I just stuck in there to check for fitment,,,I had to file the inner part of the fenders to fit it,,the 3D grill should have been more rounded on the headlight surrounds ,,not much I could do there but get it to fit the body -

68 AMT Roadrunner to 68 GTX conversion
Scott Eriksen replied to Scott Eriksen's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I nailed the rear trunk lid and tailpanel in and fitted the front for the grill and shot some primer on it,,,after I cut the lawn today,it fit pretty good considering ,,,I was going to make the trunk open but the thing is too fragile,,I'll post some pics tomorrow -
They are pre drilled machined aluminum from Scale Repos Plus ,he might have a website but I found him on Ebay > Scale Repro's Plus | eBay Stores . I have the the Slixx decals for those too! I started Daniels car ,,in the process of back-halfing it ,,,got side tracked and doing a 68 GTX out of AMT 68 Roadrunner right now . Oh and most of the SS/AH Hemi cars use this setup for the distributor >> I have a few of his distributors without the vac advance I was going to just shave it down and make a drive setup like in the pics or use a Mallory style dist

Sox & Martin 1964 A/FX Mercury Comet Caliente
Scott Eriksen replied to Scott Eriksen's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Sox & Martin kitbash 64 Comet is done,3 kits used AMT 64 Comet Caliente curbside for the body,Revell 64 Fairlane for the 427 side oiler and some other bits and the Moebious 65 Dyno Don Comet Cyclone for the chassis and interior . Had to make the headers from solder . Paint is Testors with urethane clear . Slixx decals.I don't know if I got the hood paint scheme correct or not ,,they had quite a few paint variations of this car for the short period of time they ran it and I could not find a picture showing the complete top of the car paint layout .The biggest hassle was the BMF on the side trim and trying to replicate the aluminum insert .The AMT Caliente body wasn't the greatest as far as crispness of the mold -
Sox & Martin 1964 A/FX Mercury Comet Caliente
Scott Eriksen replied to Scott Eriksen's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
The Caliente kit is for the body,,that kit is a curbside model,,so everything else is useless,,,The Thunderbolt kit is for the correct 427 and trans ,the Dyno Don kit I'm using for the chassis pan / suspension,,I could have used the Thunderbolt, but the 65 Comet chassis fits good with just some minor alterations . The Dyno Don kit uses an SOHC 427 -

I did this as an in-between'er build while I'm waiting for some stuff for the Sox & Martin Comet build, Ted Spehar's Iron Butterfly 64 Dodge 330 with Dick Oldfield driving .The car wasn't a factory Hemi car,,in fact it was Ted's wife's car ,with a Slant Six! Ted built the car in 2 weeks in 1969 and only ran the car in 69 running in SS/CA . The car made headlines at the U.S. Nationals when the Torqueflite detonated while doing a neutral start. The explosion virtually lifted the entire car off the ground. I believe the car's best run was at the World Finals where Dick was runner up to Sox & Martin.I built this car from an old parted out Lindberg kit and a Hemi and wheels from a Moebius kit .The decals are from SMP ,Holley 3116 carbs are from Fireball ,headers are from the plumbing dept.,,solder division ?

Went to the NNL today...I posted a bunch of pics for you guys,,,anyway I missed or didn't see any Dyno Don kits so I got the one on ebay,,,,did some work on it when I got back,,,cut the hood out ,the Fairlane hood is close but the front leading edge is shaped different then the Comet ,,,so I found a teardrop resin one for 5 on ebay ,,,didn't think to look at the NNL. -
