Went to the Goodguys Southwest Nationals day 1 today (Saturday tomorrow) and got to school some guys on there model A sedans. I think being so young (16 this weekend) I surprised them that I knew all the little differences between a 28-29 and 30-31 sedan.

Being thankful for this forum.....
FoMoCo66 replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This site is one of the best out there, everyone comes from all sorts of model car genres and complements each other, doesn't matter the genre. This place is also always a great place to learn without getting bashed for asking, you ask it, someone knows it, they tell ya, and no negative criticism! Ive learned many a things from here and have been guided through every question. I credit most of the skills, tips, and tricks I know to all the members of this forum. I think I speak for everyone when I sincerely say, THANK YOU! -
Got this 60 falcon annual at the Goodguys Southwest Nationals show. Offered $20 bucks and thought I would get shooed away but he sold it to me no hesitation. Should have offered less 😁. Not bad starting material, I think I see a gasser in this one's future.

Look at AFX's build on this. He fixes the slab side look on this and it looks a whole lot better.

Awesome work! Im putting that chassis under a 66 falcon annual, it had to be shortened a scale 6" to accommodate the falcons shorter wheel base. I cut the original engine bay out and put the donor one in, now im thinking im going to do this with the shock towers and use the original shock towers sence there pretty good. Those wheels are also some of my favorite! Looks good so far, you will definitely do this justice!

Packing on an Airplane!

8It survived! Right after I packed it back up after this photo I accidentally dropped it on its side onto the counter and had a mini heart attack. Good thing nothing broke! Heres what the packing looks like. The model is wrapped in a zip lock bag so if anything were to break it could be located. Then thats wrapped in bubble wrap and placed with a plastic sack on all 4 sides. -
Looks great, this kit can be made into something good just like most amt trophy series kits!

When I saw the announcement of the 64 from moebius this was my first thought, still haven't pulled the trigger on buying one though. -

Well I am hoping to carry it on in a small package so I think I will have more control. -

Nope, im going to the Goodguys Southwest Nationals in Scotsdale, AZ for my 16th birthday/eagle scout trip. Goodguys always has a model show and I wanted to enter at least one. I think its going to be my 40 Willys Pickup Gasser. -
Looks great! I actually did a similar thing on my 40 willys pickup gasser when doing the tail lights. I used the lights from the 32 coupe and just pooled tamiya clear red instead of using the lenses. Otherwise, you painting is top notch as always my friend!

Nice work so far, that stock hood is looking good. I cant wait to see what you do with this awesome new kit!

Seeing as to how many near death experiences he has had, I'd say he's one lucky cat.

So I am going to be going to Arizona this next weekend and I want to bring 2 or 3 of my models with. I am going to be flying out there, is there any good way to pack a model so it had the LEAST amount of damage while flying? Have any of you flew with a model before?
-
Yeah, tall tops look okay, but I really like chopped 33-34 fords, especially when they are hot rods!

Alright, ive have been doing quite a bit of kitbashing and scratch building lately. The chassis is 95% there, shock mounts still have to be added. I added a scratch built transmission mount (with the wholes as well for a little nod to a 40 ford x member) and a tube x member. I then used the front suspension from the revell 32 Ford with the coupe hairpins in the front. The rear as mentioned is the monogram t bucket and then I added the links from the 32 ford. Here are some picks from the first moch-up after most of the work. I really didnt like how far back the front axle set so flattened the stock brace and added a suicide perch off of it to move it forward. This is exactly the look I was going for. The engine bay is much longer on this car so it is going to be way nicer to put the belts and stuff on this W head. Sence I will probably also be street driven it wilk need a fan anyway. Thanks for looking everyone, I really appreciate comments and criticism, so keep em coming. Elliot

My building is going to slow down now that the High School boys swimming has started back up and homework is piling on.

Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!

Now that High School boys swimming has started up my building is going to slow down. I did get some things chipped away at though. I cut the floor out of the frame and started work on angling the rear up and bobbing it. I also scratch built a model a style rear cross member. And the quick change is out of the monogram t bucket. The front wheels are out of a polar lights funny car and the tires are the Perelli front runners out of the Revell 31 sedan. The rear wheels believe it or not are are the front wheels out of the AMT 40 Willys, sanded down the rim for a better look because the amt rims always seamed to thick. I also cleaned up the engine by taking off the heads and actually gluing them on correctly, I also stripped the brush painted paint off to reveal that 90s AMT brown plastic because this is out of the amt 57 Chevy with the yellow car on the front.
