  1. I got an old Johan pinto funnycar today from a swap meet, the first Johan I've purchased (restored a sox and martin cuda). The thing is absolutely MINT. It's factory sealed and I can tell by the original pricetag and the markdown. The lady wanted $45 for the car but I got her down to $35. On ebay, a kit of this condition is going for around $100, and an opened kit is around $70. That means if I were to open it I would not loose any money and probably still make a profit. But my other concern is if the kit might be too nice to even open. Should I just buy a different kit if I wanted to build a Johan or a funnycar?
  2. My new favorite is this fusionfirm chrome on Amazon, the best part is it actually dries to handle. Here it is on a 65 falcon bumper.
  3. Amazing work, do you mind me asking what you use for your braded line and a/n fittings?
  4. Thanks, looking forward to building the 29 ford and a new medium to work with. And you bet I had a good time, how could I not!
  5. That should last you a while.
  6. Just got back from the Midwest ford fest in Ottumwa Iowa. Found this original sealed Johan Pinto funny car. Paid $35 for it. Its pretty cool that the box still has its original stickers on it for $5.75, then it got discounted for $4.31.
  7. Here ya go, this is the under glass. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/200064-mpc-1967-streaker-vette-box-art-inspired-build/
  8. Yesterday I went to my first model show, so glad I could make it to the MIME 6NNL. While there a couple of my cars, the 67 corvette and 64 Thunderbolt got photographed for potential magazine entry. I also got 2 tokens from the gluebrothers club saying that my models were certified Cool. And lastly my 67 corvette got the "Best Junior" award.
  9. Don't get those, try this new stuff called fusionfirm chrome. Its on Amazon for $10, shines like revell and after 72 hours can be handled, also comes with a clear coat. Here it is on a 65 falcon bumper. (Can be brushed or airbrushed)
  10. Looks cool, now you need a mustang 2 front suspension to go with that motor.
  11. I hear ya. I cut my finger open with a razer saw shortening a gas tank this past week. Went through the fingernail, I heavily concidered supergluing the top together but a tight wrapped bandaid worked just fine.
  12. Nice job on this one, loved following along with this build. Wheels look amazing, along with the motor and intake.
  13. Here's the haul from the MIME NNL 6 hosted by the glue brothers club. A moebius 65 comet, moebius 65 chevy 2 gasser, moebius 66 f100, amt 34 ford 5 window, amt 61 ranchero, a revell 57 ford wagon, a tamiya paint stand, and a built up monogram t all for $100. I also made quite a few new friends at the show, being as it was my first model show. One of those friends is someone I never expected to meet, an aussie, Alan Barton. I got to talkin' to him about the car scene down there (literally ). He brought some nice models that I admired. But at the end of the show he gave me some of his vacuum formed models, a streamliner land speed car, 2 amt roadster tonneau covers, a model a track nose, a model a belly pan, and a custom fiat dragster body. All realy cool bodys and definitely appreciate him givin' them to me.
  14. Man, that cars just got the right everything. Right wheels, right stance, and right motor!
  15. Now you have an excuse to build a new model body on it for "show".
  16. Man, so cool that you can see the bicycle fenders off the firewall! Looking good.
  17. Change in humidity is the enemy of precision (my freaking deadbolt lock outside).
  18. Shoot, I already read the whole thread. I've been following when it started, completely missed that.
  19. Another Ford guy, nice! (Take a glance at my user name)
  20. I did some sink marks on my 63 galaxie. Have had it sitting for about a week and a half. It's nice and solid now. Used 3m spot putty (some wet sanding after fully cured removed that red in the sanding marks).
  21. I just got some of this stuff. Here are 2 coats on a 65 falcon rear bumper. Just one question, has anyone tryed this in an airbrush?
