  1. Lets continue with this build The Revells Revuelto should come out next week so i need some room on my bench. So, theres two versions of rear decklid in this kit - i'm going with the glass window version. The other one is with black louvres (i think its what they're called). That means that the engine is visible through the glass. So wanted to add the plug wires to it so it doesn't look as plain as it is. So grabbed some wires and started glueing. Also added a line to the intake manifold's underside And did the same on the other side too. Then painted the intake manifold's cover. Added some bare metal foil strips and painted the throttle bodies in silver. Then added the decals Testfitted them together Looks pretty neat I also painted the brake disks and added the decals too Also added the decals to the body Will leave them to dry for a day or two. Then its time for some clearcoating and putting this thing together
  2. That looks really awesome!
  3. Revell Germany says it well be released this month https://revell.com/en-eu/products/077239090-lamborghini-revuelto
  4. Bodywork time! Was thinking of what color should i paint it... Definitely didn't want anything too loud or obnoxious so yellow-purple-red etc was off the table. Wanted a bit darker and menacing look. It is an italian supercar after all. So sprayed the body with some primer and did a session of wetsanding Then another coat of primer and another wetsanding session with higher grit paper. Then the third coat of primer And you guessed it - another wetsanding session And finally the paint itself As its called the deep and powerful grey - the Grigio Lynx
  5. Body is painted
  6. More mods to make my life harder So, added the trimpiece to the roof panel This one was hard - tried to glue it as straight as humanly possible. Think i did a pretty good job - atleast i'm happy with it Then decided that the interior needs a bit more detail Really liked the chrome trim around the center console part in 1:1 car. So decided i'm going to create these in my model too. So dipped the interior tub and dash into some DOT oil to strip the paint. After that, glued the trim in place Then repainted it and did some bare metal foiling (god, i hate this stuff. Its just so annoying to work with. With a lot of cursing and wanting to throw it out the window, i got it finally done. Looks pretty okayish. Will do the dash at a later date Right now, i don't want to look another metal foil sheet for a while. Also started doing the bodywork First, a coat of primer to get all the little dings and scratches to show up Then the wetsanding session to fix all the scratches Then another coat of tinted primer (No, i haven't completely lost my mind - the car won't stay in pink ) Didn't get around to do the final paintjob - i like to do them with clean airbrush and in clean booth. I was just too lazy to clean them up But i did paint the engine a bit more
  7. Mods, mods, mods We had our first snow of this season today So whats a better way to spend some time inside than building model cars? So i glued the bumpers on Used these clamp-thingies again. Really great and cheap tools to have. Wanted to clean up the edge a bit where the bumper meets the body. So grabbed some scribbing tape Then scribbed some lines to it My trick is to count the times the blade passes over it. So its 10 times for every line. This way, you'll keep the lines nice and uniform in depth After that, i added some extra thin quick drying cement into it and left it out to rest. You'll get a nice and crisp lines in the end (I'm not a pro so don't take everything i do too seriously) The 1:1 car has some thin chrome lines on the sidedoor too where the window drops into the door. I really like the look of them. Unfortunately in this kit, they are not molded. So i decided to do my own Getting ready to use styrene strips seems to be impossible where i'm from so had to be creative. I took some tamiya styrene strips, heated them up over candle and stretched them out to thin wire. Then glued them into the doors. Pretty happy how it came out. Will chrome them up later down the line once the body is painted. Then wanted to try out something new - scrapbuild my own parts I really suck at doing stuff like these. So the engine bay is pretty bland and boring on this kit and definitely needs some more detail. So decided to create my own expansion tank for it. Took some scrap piece i had laying around Cut and sanded it into shape. Then glued some scarp piece ontop of it Once dried, i cut it in lenght and heres how it turned out Theres also two transparent t-top panels in this kit. I learned from my Aventador build that its best to glue them together to keep them straight. So i taped up the body Then after a lot of testfitting and sanding, i glued them together Pretty happy how it turned out
  8. Exhaust could be a bit better, but otherwise looks really nice
  9. So, some more interior work Dash is done Steering wheel too Did some flocking and glued the center console in Then the dash went in Clamped and glued the seats And finally glued everything in place
  10. Well, lets continue doing some work on the interior I kinda love supercar interiors - they just look so cool. Like a spaceship Taped up the dash (i know, its a bit overkill, but i can't help it ) Then did some painting and clearcoating And testfitted it into the tub Kindof reminds me of liquorice candy
  11. I'm definitely not good at scrapbuilding, but heres how one can get a set of lights to their Corvette. Step 1: Tape the hole and trace it with pencil Step 2: Cut out the template from the tape and stick it to some scrap headlight lens Step 3: Cut and shape......cut and shape..... until it fits into the hole Step 4: repeat the step 3 on the other side Step 5: Glue some scrap pieces to the other side Aaaand you have a bumper ready for lights In my opinion, it looks a lot better than just painted on headlights (Or are they daylight running lights? Or maybe blinkers? I'm not even sure)
  12. The interiors of modern supercars are quite fun to build Theres loads of buttons and complicated edges to paint. Really fun to do. So, first did some painting of the doorpanels. Painted the armrests in brown, the speaker grills in gloss black and did a bit of silver detailing. Came out pretty okayish - the brown turned out a bit sloppy, but it doesn't bother me that much Then it was time for some real fun The center console. Went i bit overboard with it, but oh well So, first painted the armrest in brown, then added some gloss black around the buttons. Then did the silver detailing. Still a long way to go, but looks pretty neat already
  13. Ooh, that is one cool car you have there One of my dream cars. Have you got any closeups of the door? Is there a chrome trim or just a rubber seal where the window slides into the door?
  14. Sure! I have some beer for you, but you have to bring your own snacks
  15. Wow! Almost two months without any updates. I've been lazy lately. Time to get up and do some work. So, started working on the interior. Ideally i would like the endresult look like a clean and refined supercar. No fancy modifications, no spoilers, no youtuber-kids tuning. Just a classic lamborghini. But then again, i don't want to make it too boring. So decided i'm going with the two tone interior. So painted it in satin black. Seats got a nice coat of flat brown Really like how it turned out. Looks like a dark toffee chocolate. Also painted the exhaust manifolds And brake rotors got a coat of paint too. Still a long road ahead, but its getting there
  16. So, lets begin then. It's been long enough without updates. Decided i'm going to build this one as stock as possible. I like how the bodylines flow on this model so i won't glue the spoilers on. I think leaving them off, gives it a bit cleaner look. One thing i hated about this kit is the front daylight(?) running lights. They're molded into the bumper and the instructions calls for painting them. I don't like it. So i grabbed my trusty old drill and went to town! After that, i cut the part out with my hobby knife Looks a bit neater already Will try to create some lights into those sockets later. Also did some painting on the interior tub and the engine. I know the engine is supposed to be teal blue on the 1:1 car, but i decided for bright red. I just like the look of it a bit more.
  17. Thank you guys!
  18. Well, hello again Firebird is done. So i've got some spare room on my workbench (yeah right, i don't have a workbench.....) to start another build. Felt like its a good time to do another American legend - the C3 Corvette. Kit itself is from Revell's. Like always, i'll probably go for an out of the box build, but with some of my own twist added to it. Haven't decided yet about the paint. It definitely won't be the pace car colors. Lets see how this one goes Simo.
  19. Hi! This is my latest build - the 1991 Firebird I know its not everyones bucketlist dream car, but i think its cool. Yeah, the build quality of the 1:1 cars wasn't exactly greatest. They weren't very fast either, but still - the slant nose front end, popup headlights and big v8 with fat tyres - truly the sportscar of the 90s. So heres my take of it Body paint is called Honduras Maroon from an early Corvette. The interior is my own mix. Added some plugwires to the engine and white decals to the tyres. Otherwise, its just an out of the box build. Had some issues painting the taillights and the decals were really old. Otherwise, its a nice solid kit to build. Heres the WIP thread: Hope you like it! See you at my next build threads! Simo.
  20. Aaand.......done Will post some more pics in UTG subforum
  21. So, its pretty much home straight No much left to do. Wanted to add some white lettering to the tyres. The kit doesn't have those so had to dig around inside my scrap boxes Luckily i found some! I think they are leftover from my older Firebird kit. Anyhow, the worked great. Then did some detailing inside the engine bay, glued the windows, interior and undercarriage in And finally installed the engine. Chromed parts inside the enginebay looks pretty awesome if you ask me Theres still loads of fingerprints left, but i'll clean it up later After that, glued the axles, driveshaft and shocks in So underside is also pretty much done. The mudflap-thingy will come later Just some minor details left to do before i can call this one done
  22. Lets do another "small" update First, about the taillight. ITS THE WORST I'VE EVER SEEN. Idk how to paint it to look good. Been trying and failing, trying and failing. So i gave up and left it as is So what i did: First, taped the lines one by one: Then painted them: But still, looks pretty bad: So i gave up. Painted the lights in red and orange Actually looks pretty okayish on body The underside is a bit weird too. The kit supposed to be a 91 Firebird, but its a mix of parts from 89 and 91 firebird. Couldn't find any reference photos of the underside so used my imagination. Painted the fuel tank in silver. I have no idea how it is on the real car. Looks pretty nice though Also glued the rear axle in. The front one will be glued at the very end Then did some work on the engine The intake is glued in; Chrome looks pretty nice inside the enginebay Then did the plug wires. Its kindof my must-have thing. I really like to do these: And glued them in also: So this is where its at. Not much left to do
  23. Wow! Last update was in august. Somehow this build has been sitting on my shelf for two months. So its time to blow the dust off and continue! Tried to make the dash look like its form an early 90s. Turned out pretty good if you ask me Then it was time for some decal work. This is an old kit - kit has been sitting around for 20 years or so - so decals took some soaking. Also painted the interior buttons and testfitted the dashboard After that, did some flocking and glued everything in I know the armrests on the doorpanel should be brown, but i painted them in black. I used to own a late 80's Audi 100 that had light interior with black armrests. This model kind of reminds me of that car so thats why i did it. Also, i know some of you british guys and gals won't see my earlier pictures due to some issues with the imgur site. Sadly i got myself a new PC a while ago so lost some of my old pictures, including pictures for this build. So heres a quick recap of the body
  24. Usually the aoshima kits doesn't have engines in them. Well, atleast based on my limited experience with them. But seeing a full engine on this one was a nice surprise Its not the best looking engine, but still, its a fully molded one. One can do lots of awesome stuff with it. Sadly i'm not that skilled But it looks pretty awesome inside the engine bay So yeah, pretty cool surprise Also the sidemirrors in this kit is in two pieces. I don't know why - seems like its just for making it more complicated than it has to be. So, i definitely need to glue them before any paint. But how to do it so they don't look off once everything is painted? Easy - just take a blob of bluetac and stick it inside the body That way, you can securely stick the stem? to the body Then you can glue the mirror on to the stem And repeat on the other side. And voila! You have a nice and symmetrical mirrors that you can just pull off from body and ready for a paintjob :D
  25. So, about this kit...... I haven't had that much experience with Aoshima kits, but some things stand out to me. First, the body - whilist the revell likes to mold its bodies as a single unit, the aoshima likes to make them as multi piece parts. As for the aoshima, its not always obvious how the parts supposed to glue together. Revell is easier - theres usually a rather large glue area or lip - just put the glue here and push the part there - no biggie. Aoshima isnt that way. The lip or area you supposed to put the glue on is very small (or there isnt one at all). So first, i layed down all the body parts to see what goes where: Another issue is that the instructions calls for the bodypanels to be glued on after the paintjob. I don't like it. I like to glue most of the body parts before paint - this just gives it a cleaner look in the end. But it takes a lot of testfitting and planning to make sure the kit will still go together. So this is what i did - a lot of testfitting. I'm pretty much sure i can glue the front bumper and sideskirts on without issues. The rear bumper must be glued after the paint or else the taillights wont go in. Then the panel gaps..... aoshima usually has them pretty well done. But not on this kit They were really narrow and shallow. So definitely needed some touchups. So i grabbed my trusty old scribber and went to town. Wasn't as easy as it looks. Scribber jumped out at one place so will have to do some putty work later on. But still, i really do like the Huracans. Should fit right in with its two sisters (well, almost)
