  1. "Harry's got a new driver and he needs a car to turn a coupla laps... I told ya it was Harry Hogge who asked us personally as a favor..." Loved the movie, loved this Exxon Lumina sitting next to the pit wall. Fun build - turned out alright. Aftermarket decals include foil trim on the Exxon logos. A lot of work on that stance again. Really liked how she sat in the movie. Again nothing fancy here. (Hand painted gages.) Just a fun build. Tried to capture the Daytona vibe. Thanks for looking. Steve
  2. @Bainford. Thank you! You should definitely get yours out and give it a go. It is a fun build and has such great lines. So many awesome color options that would look good on it, too!
  3. This looks fabulous. I need one! Great box art. Steve
  4. @MarkJ It is the Monogram 1983-1986 Thunderbird kit. Front wheel arches seem too big to my taste, and the trim strips on the door had to go. Thanks for the compliment.
  5. Ok. If dude is crazy enough to print tire and wheel markings in 1/64, I'm crazy enough to try them. (These were only on the JHD0097 Monster sponsored sheet, but there are two sets per sheet, so...) Did I put the wheel stickers the right way? Not sure what I'm looking at - so small!
  6. Need some strong Rubbermaid trash cans for the shop. Scounged some beauty product caps... A coat of gray primer... Used the inkjet to print on clear decal paper and voila... Trash cans for each work cell. Steve
  7. Thanks for the kind words. It is a fun era to model - not exactly "stock" cars but definitely distinguishable body types. I enjoyed it, but this was a tough kit.
  8. Also, the other decals arrived in the mail today. It's nice you get two complete sets on each sheet, but if you don't mess up it kinda compels you to do a second truck ?.
  9. Decal test went great. The decals: Are easy to work with, particularly when you cut them out close. Are nice and thin. Conform well with Micro-sol, but you don't get a lot of working time and you only get 1 or 2 moments to move 'em after Micro-sol and then they tear and melt. Are very opaque - white decal looks great against black paint. They are a little digitized under magnification being like dot matrix printed, but they look good from more than a few inches away. This is 1/64 scale so even full car shots are effectively close ups. They look pretty good to my eye in the shop. We'll finish her up and get some future on it. Steve
  10. @XYHARRY That is really cool!! Now if I could get 1/24th of 2 million pounds for it... ? I was going to make excuses for the lack of mirrors (it just looks better without them) but I see that is oh so common in the 1:1 as well. The lines are just too pretty to clutter up with mirrors!
  11. Very nice color - very nice foil. Beautiful car.
  12. Also, tested some Future floor polish where the decals say "1/64th Scale" with no reaction. That's good.
  13. So sad. I was not a member but it was a good resource. They had been around a long time. Steve
  14. First set of decals are in!! We'll see how they fit and settle. Also how opaque will the white be against the black paint?
  15. It is time to take the "shop" to something more permanent and developed. I have been using 3 pieces of posterboard as a neutral photo backdrop for my finished cars - But have always wanted a "shop" to support my builds. And I always have multiple works in progress so I like a modern shop with multiple work cells. How will it start... White posterboard on three sides? Or posterboard walls I can setup on my workbench? We'll play with this and see where it goes. I see so many good ideas on this board already. Looks fun! Steve
  16. Good looking shop, inside and out. It's development has followed so many 1:1 shops - it lends to the authenticity. Fun thread! Steve
  17. A few pics out of the shop and in the sun...
  18. Thanks Rick. I will do the same. Coolest story I found researching the car (and the birth of the hemis) was that they had to switch from the chrome wheels to painted because the tires would rotate on the chrome wheels when accelerating with the hemi, effectively breaking the bead. The painted were a little rougher and alleviated the problem. Really good job on that car Rick!!
  19. This is my curbside 1971 Lamborghini Miura SV. Fun easy build, and everything seemed to fit well. Came with foil accents (badges, trim rings) and headlights are poseable. Purple was Testors' Plum Crazy in a rattle can. I am not really happy with my bare metal foil work but will have to keep working on it. The wheels and tires look really nice to my eye. Note the headlight in the "up" position. Did I mention poseable steering? Love this kit! Thanks for looking. Steve
  20. Beautiful model! I especially love the pickup rubber! Just feels like "Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!!!". (Sorry - that's how all the radio racing adverts started in Wisconsin when I was young and impressionable.)
  21. That Square Bird is just awesome. I wish I could find one at a swap meet or something for a value price. You have done some stellar work with this one. Steve
  22. Wow!! Nice looking car! I have the same kit on the bench and I am using the same decals from Mike's (Powerslide I think). I forgot to attach the tail light covers before paint so will have to do them later. Did you do yours (taillight covers) in red, silver or Petty Blue?
  23. I think it is a novel solution. Better than helping AI determine what frames have a motorcycle or school bus in them everytime you post. The longest I've waited for a post approval is maybe 8 hours whilst wearing my rookie stripes! ? Nice place - ya gotta keep it that way. Steve
  24. @Hi-Po Thanks! It is AFV Club. AFV35S16 I think. Nice kit but the hood gap on the sides seemed a bit much. Has an engine too, but once the flags are on the front removing the hood will eventually break them. I think I ultimately glued the hood in place.
