I second the no front plate thing. Here in Ontario a front plate is required, but on our '69 LeMans a front plate would totally crowd the front look of the car, plus we don't have the bracket to attach the plate to the bumper anyway. We just keep it on the front dash so it's visible from the windshield. If the cops pull you over for no front plate on the bumper, then they literally have nothing better to do.

1971 Olds 442 Hotwheels Tribute Car
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Model Cars
I was thinking about that. Would like to do a water slide decal as opposed to just making a sticker though. -
That Frontenac sure is crazy cool. I think I saw photos of that car on the internet before

Is that Lincoln the '59 I see in the photos? I built one too, was able to find a complete 1965 issue kit still in the original box with original instruction sheet for, all $20.

Holy smokes that’s beautiful. Last year of the Monarch, but one of the best looking years. Like the crown in the grille centre.

Awesome score of models there; the exact era of cars I like to build

Very nice; like it a lot. The lines of the '71-74 Charger are just beautiful. Who'd guess that just one year later Chrysler would turn the Charger into a Cordoba.

Finished my second 1971 Olds 442. Have to admit I am quite pleased with the results. I decided to do a 1:25 scale replica of a 1970 Olds 442 Hotweels that I've had since I was a kid. I needed to use big "fancy" rims as I call them; which I usually never do but for this build they were necissary to get the look of the hotwheels. The rims are from the '56 Del Ray. The wheelbacks surprisingly came with the Olds kit, and they fit the rims nicely, but to get the clearence under the wheel opening lip I had to shave a considerable amount off behind the actual rim so they set farther back in the chassis. The paint wasn't exactly what I wanted but it still looks very nice. Plan was to follow the same scheme I did on my banana seat bike, which wears a silver base coat and a transparent red that really pops. The hotwheels car has a similar paint job on it, so I wanted that for the model. But the paint didn't take to the car nicely so it had to be painted over with the red you see on the car now. The stripes were the main thing. They needed to be yellow but the kit only comes with white or black. My brain had a dumb idea that if I put yellow food colouring in the water I dip the white stripe decals into, that it would dye yellow. My brain wouldn't give up the idea until I could actually see in not working. Ended up painting over the white decals, they don't look half bad. I like this one better than the first one I built in 2023.

Very gorgeous, clean, stock appearance. Nice blue colour too.

What did you see on the road today?

My mom saw this in the parking garage under where she works. Usually there are quite a few classics stored there over the years, like a 1978 Monte Carlo, and a 1952 Nash Statesman. Last year I was there once and saw a car under a cover, just the bumper and tires sticking out. Figured it was a '71-'72 Buick for sure because of some of the bumper I could see. Today, the cover was actually off and so it turns out that it's a 1974 LeSabre convertible. Looks to be in pretty great shape. -

Went for the first cruise in the Highway Star in 2 weeks last evening. Two Wednesdays ago was the last time and it was a rainy day that my dad drove it to Jiggerz to get chrome exauhst tips welded on. Since then it was literally raining everyday or we were busy on the nice days so going out again yesterday was nice. Even nicer because we saw another 1969 Pontiac LeMans, a half-done GTO clone, with the signature front bumper and lower valence but still retained stock appearing LeMans tailights and trunk badging. Scrambled to get a photo so I only got it as it was going. We've seen it before while in the Highway Star and interestingly enough this car was for sale in southern Ontario quite a while ago and my dad had the ad bookmarked for the longest time. Funny how it came up here. Hasn't gone to any shows yet but we'd be inclined to talk to the guy. -

A rare sight for sure -
Very cool, I like it a lot. Big fan of concept cars. Curious to see the other 2 concept designs.

Went to get a haircut this rainy morning, one the way home saw a 1963 Cadillac drive past as I was waiting to turn. Again no photos as I was driving but I saw it at shows before so here’s a pic of the actual car I saw today from a show a couple years ago. -

I can see someone’s favourite colour is Zebra -
That’s awesome that it works still, and I’ve heard about the Bluetooth conversion. Back in April I bought a 1962 Oritone transistor radio, all original and working; even picked up a station that played period correct music. But then a month later it completely stopped and even the guy around here who fixes stuff like this couldn’t get it to work. Might have to end up doing the Bluetooth conversion to it someday.

Wow that ‘68 GTO is gorgeous, also the ‘59 DeSoto and the Dodge custom van and those bikes are crazy cool
