The turquoise is real nice; I've been meaning to get a hold of another one of these as I built Christine out of the kit I have (of course) but there were so many other colour options on a '58 Plymouth other than red and white so I'd have to get one again. Like the wheels also.

What did you see on the road today?

Literally saw that white '69 Caddy again. Was in a way better position to take a photo, yet, it once again didn't happen. But I saw it quite closer up than usual. Has a red interior which is neat, considering it's white and has a black convertible top. -

That one always reminds me of the ‘55 Mystere; there is a suspicious similarity between the two. But apparently this chicken wagon was originally a ‘58 Thunderbird or something. -
Like that convertible. I always liked the '59 Impala, my generation having been influenced by "Ramone" the '59 Impala Lowrider from the 2006 Disney movie, "Cars". Seen only two thus far, one at St. Ignace, MI and the other at the Kinross, MI county fair, both in 2023. Both were also four-doors and oddly enough the same colour too.

Had a white '69 Caddy convertible behind me on the road for a bit. Seen it many times and I know where it lives but never got a photo and it never goes to shows. This time was no different in the photo aspect but it looks like this: Also never seen it with the top down. My dad actually saw it up close once in the Home Depot parking lot a while ago. Said it's not as pristine as I always thought it was. -
Let's See Some Glue Bombs!
Falcon Ranchero replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The only glue bomb I got, Revell’s 1988 issue of the L88 Corvette. Given to me by a cousin who didn’t really have the knack for building kits, this corvette is also a victim of glue welding. The chassis fits poorly and the hood doesn’t close. May or may not try to fix it. But I have been taking parts off it for other builds. -

Almost forgot to mention, on Sunday I saw a 1960 Meteor Montcalm, the two door with the star liner roofline. It was the only classic on a car carrier that I saw at the last second so unfortunately I missed a photo opportunity. But it was red and white like this Rideau 500 (internet photo to show colour combo). Kicking myself for not getting a photo though; it was a stunning sight and a rare one at that. -

On Saturday I went on my annual cruise with my Great Uncle in his '65 Thunderbird. Saw a red '56ish Ford truck. Have seen it going down the road many times as it lives on a farm on my grandma's street, but it never goes to shows. Not the best photos but I only photos I have got of the truck. Stopped at the gas station with the 'bird so I took a photo. The car has a 61 year birthday this Wednesday; having been produced October 8th, 1964. There is quite a paper trail on the car, so that's how we know its production date. But also the bill of sale is another piece of history, stating that the car hadn't actually been bought until July 3rd, 1965. My suspicion is that, since it is a Landau, it may have been ordered as the showroom special, and so the dealer made sure to keep it for a while. Plus the first owner was the wife of I believe a steel tubing company president or something; i'd have to ask my great uncle again. But it was an $8,000 car in 1965, though the trade-in of a '61 Buick Electra cut some of the price down. Cool that it's an original local car too. -

Wow I like this; very extravagant paint job, I like it a lot. Plus the redline tires set it off. Would look great as an old hotweels truck too. -

Yesterday we went to visit that car guy that has the '68 Cougar etc. because he had just come back from a swap meet in the states with 2 trunk emblems for our LeMans. They don't exactly fit because they're for a '67, but it's such a close fit that we're going to make them work. Better than paying 100$ for one off of OPG or other aftermarket suppliers only to get a repro part. These, while not for a '69 are real deal '67 emblems. I was able to get better photos of his Nova, plus he showed us some other cars he had stashed away in other garages that he didn't show us before, namely an original paint 1964 Chrysler New Yorker that I had seen around before but never knew he had it. Also it turns out he has a rare Willys Whippet. Both cars were in separate garages with old tractors. Couldn't get a great photo of the Chrysler but I have photos of it from a car show in 2023. -

On Friday I saw what all season daily driving does to a mid-80s GMC truck here in town. Saw the truck around for the past 4 or 5 years but never got a photo of it, until a few days ago. So crazy rusty, when it turned I looked back and the box was swaying from side to side. I swear it's been on the road every day of the year since like '85. And today I took the longer way home past my old highschool to see if my friend's younger brother's car was parked there, and sure enough, it was. Parked it in the next lot over from the school lot though, which is a smart idea. It's an original paint, original Soo car, 1969 Chrysler Newport. -
Great representation of a seldom seen kit, I like it a lot.

The secret is white paint and thinner; actually just discovered that for the first time while building this kit.

Thanks; I actually found that plate in a gully on my grandparents property as it had been on the rear bumper of my grandma's father's 1953 Chevy 210 (which is down the gully too) and so I just re-painted it and had stickers made of it. It's a 1962 plate, kinda hard to see in the photos.

Finally built my first Jo-Han kit, the 1972 issue Police emergency wagon 1960 Plymouth. Obviously I didn't make the police wagon out of it, but rather just a stock Suburban wagon. Though the original owner had plans to build a drag wagon because there were big drag slicks and rims in the box, plus some "Goodyear" and "Plymouth" decals from the '70 Superbird kit, and a different fan belt and one Moroso valve cover. However they only got as far as painting and gluing together the engine halves. This was one of my grail kits, basically the only one on that list that I've got a hold of (though my '59 Lincoln is nice to have too). Very pleased with how it turned out, especially the chrome work; I had to just paint silver instead of doing the foil technique which I know many of you use because of its more chrome-like appearence. But I'm not dissapointed at all with my work just painting it on. I took photos of the model within the wagon pages of my '60 Plymouth sales brochure so it's like it's popping right out of the pages. Gave it whitewalls from my '59 Imperial kit. Overall just very pleased to have this in the collection.

Remeber the '69 Nova from last fall where I made that thread about whether or not I should choose the Nova or a 1988 Lincoln Town Car? Long time ago now but I've been seeing what appeared to be that Nova, but with nice polished paint, and a new vinyl top; it looks like a million bucks. Saw it up close yesterday but couldn't get a photo right away (was driving). but I got a photo in the rearview mirror at a stop sign. Blurry photo so you can't tell how good it is but you'll have to take my word for it. It's nice that someone bought it and actually made it nice. First photo is of the Nova last fall, though you can't really tell, it has a dark brown vinyl top. Last photo is the one I got yesterday; it has a light beige one now instead. Not sure if the engine has changed, just a 6 cylinder as far as I know. -
The '60 Plymouth wagon is coming along. Was actually able to get the first colour of the two tone sprayed on; looks very promising. Very excited to finish it. Should be done by Thursday or Friday. (Just realized this should have gone in "what did you accomplish today")

Looks very awesome, the colour and the wheels and the stance are perfect. Definitely a kit on my list.

And so the plot thickens... That makes sense that being in an accident has yeilded it's non-stock repair; probably they didn't want to try an replicate the angle of the skegs so they just put flatter sheet metal in, and it appears they may have cut the bottom ends of the bumper so those ends there became bumperettes and just fit them flush with the new rear. Entirely a guess though. But a basically a solved mystery.

So it rained all day yesterday and so the A&W car show was canceled unfortunately; not sure if it's going to be re-scheduled. But that allowed me to get way too far into the '60 Plymouth Suburban wagon kit, and so now the interior, engine, and wheels are all painted and assembled, and the chassis is all painted and so all I have to do is put the engine and wheels on it. Hoping to have the car sprayed maybe today or tomorrow, but the weather's really humid and rainy, so might have to wait for the sunny Wednesday.

Wow a Corvair 95 Rampside; really the VW pickup's only American competition, as was the Corvan to the VW bus. -
If only they'd do that for the '60 Plymouth Fury...

On Saturday we went to visit the guy who was selling a 1980 z/28 Camaro back in May that we went to look at, and since struck up a friendship with him. Mentioned he has lots of other fine cars, namely the '68 Cougar I've shown photos of before. Was able to get a good photo of his '67 Camaro this time, but he also has a '66 Nova and Corvette Sting Ray. We went in our LeMans to bring back some radios he gave us a while ago because they weren't going to work as the radios of choice for our car. While there he noticed the rear side marker lights on our car weren't lit up ( we hadn't ever noticed) and he checked them and they didn't have any bulbs so but then he had a stash of bulbs and managed to find two, plugged them in and they lit up. Also gave us a chrome lisence plate frame, which I was looking for. $30 for a cheap plastic chrome plated one at Canadian Tire but he gave us a real metal one for free. Going to have to give him something in return.
