  1. Yesterday we went to visit that car guy that has the '68 Cougar etc. because he had just come back from a swap meet in the states with 2 trunk emblems for our LeMans. They don't exactly fit because they're for a '67, but it's such a close fit that we're going to make them work. Better than paying 100$ for one off of OPG or other aftermarket suppliers only to get a repro part. These, while not for a '69 are real deal '67 emblems. I was able to get better photos of his Nova, plus he showed us some other cars he had stashed away in other garages that he didn't show us before, namely an original paint 1964 Chrysler New Yorker that I had seen around before but never knew he had it. Also it turns out he has a rare Willys Whippet. Both cars were in separate garages with old tractors. Couldn't get a great photo of the Chrysler but I have photos of it from a car show in 2023.
  2. On Friday I saw what all season daily driving does to a mid-80s GMC truck here in town. Saw the truck around for the past 4 or 5 years but never got a photo of it, until a few days ago. So crazy rusty, when it turned I looked back and the box was swaying from side to side. I swear it's been on the road every day of the year since like '85. And today I took the longer way home past my old highschool to see if my friend's younger brother's car was parked there, and sure enough, it was. Parked it in the next lot over from the school lot though, which is a smart idea. It's an original paint, original Soo car, 1969 Chrysler Newport.
  3. Great representation of a seldom seen kit, I like it a lot.
  4. The secret is white paint and thinner; actually just discovered that for the first time while building this kit.
  5. Thanks; I actually found that plate in a gully on my grandparents property as it had been on the rear bumper of my grandma's father's 1953 Chevy 210 (which is down the gully too) and so I just re-painted it and had stickers made of it. It's a 1962 plate, kinda hard to see in the photos.
  6. Finally built my first Jo-Han kit, the 1972 issue Police emergency wagon 1960 Plymouth. Obviously I didn't make the police wagon out of it, but rather just a stock Suburban wagon. Though the original owner had plans to build a drag wagon because there were big drag slicks and rims in the box, plus some "Goodyear" and "Plymouth" decals from the '70 Superbird kit, and a different fan belt and one Moroso valve cover. However they only got as far as painting and gluing together the engine halves. This was one of my grail kits, basically the only one on that list that I've got a hold of (though my '59 Lincoln is nice to have too). Very pleased with how it turned out, especially the chrome work; I had to just paint silver instead of doing the foil technique which I know many of you use because of its more chrome-like appearence. But I'm not dissapointed at all with my work just painting it on. I took photos of the model within the wagon pages of my '60 Plymouth sales brochure so it's like it's popping right out of the pages. Gave it whitewalls from my '59 Imperial kit. Overall just very pleased to have this in the collection.
  7. Remeber the '69 Nova from last fall where I made that thread about whether or not I should choose the Nova or a 1988 Lincoln Town Car? Long time ago now but I've been seeing what appeared to be that Nova, but with nice polished paint, and a new vinyl top; it looks like a million bucks. Saw it up close yesterday but couldn't get a photo right away (was driving). but I got a photo in the rearview mirror at a stop sign. Blurry photo so you can't tell how good it is but you'll have to take my word for it. It's nice that someone bought it and actually made it nice. First photo is of the Nova last fall, though you can't really tell, it has a dark brown vinyl top. Last photo is the one I got yesterday; it has a light beige one now instead. Not sure if the engine has changed, just a 6 cylinder as far as I know.
  8. The '60 Plymouth wagon is coming along. Was actually able to get the first colour of the two tone sprayed on; looks very promising. Very excited to finish it. Should be done by Thursday or Friday. (Just realized this should have gone in "what did you accomplish today")
  9. Looks very awesome, the colour and the wheels and the stance are perfect. Definitely a kit on my list.
  10. And so the plot thickens... That makes sense that being in an accident has yeilded it's non-stock repair; probably they didn't want to try an replicate the angle of the skegs so they just put flatter sheet metal in, and it appears they may have cut the bottom ends of the bumper so those ends there became bumperettes and just fit them flush with the new rear. Entirely a guess though. But a basically a solved mystery.
  11. So it rained all day yesterday and so the A&W car show was canceled unfortunately; not sure if it's going to be re-scheduled. But that allowed me to get way too far into the '60 Plymouth Suburban wagon kit, and so now the interior, engine, and wheels are all painted and assembled, and the chassis is all painted and so all I have to do is put the engine and wheels on it. Hoping to have the car sprayed maybe today or tomorrow, but the weather's really humid and rainy, so might have to wait for the sunny Wednesday.
  12. Wow a Corvair 95 Rampside; really the VW pickup's only American competition, as was the Corvan to the VW bus.
  13. If only they'd do that for the '60 Plymouth Fury...
  14. On Saturday we went to visit the guy who was selling a 1980 z/28 Camaro back in May that we went to look at, and since struck up a friendship with him. Mentioned he has lots of other fine cars, namely the '68 Cougar I've shown photos of before. Was able to get a good photo of his '67 Camaro this time, but he also has a '66 Nova and Corvette Sting Ray. We went in our LeMans to bring back some radios he gave us a while ago because they weren't going to work as the radios of choice for our car. While there he noticed the rear side marker lights on our car weren't lit up ( we hadn't ever noticed) and he checked them and they didn't have any bulbs so but then he had a stash of bulbs and managed to find two, plugged them in and they lit up. Also gave us a chrome lisence plate frame, which I was looking for. $30 for a cheap plastic chrome plated one at Canadian Tire but he gave us a real metal one for free. Going to have to give him something in return.
  15. Really well done; like the colour combo, especially the interior.
  16. Wow that’s interesting. Looks almost like an Econoline pickup.
  17. Well. Now I want to own and drive one just like it.
  18. Began starting the build of my 1960 Plymouth wagon kit. Shouldn’t take as long as the Olds 442 did. Wasn’t going to start it today but it’s raining, and if the A&W car show gets cancelled, then at least I’ll still have something to do today.
  19. That Hudson Jet is a rare sight for sure.
  20. That would be way cool to build it like the one I saw.
  21. Cool stuff. That Coca Cola van was the first AMT kit I bought and built. That was back in 2021. Brush painted it box stock and put a bed inside the van from a boogie van kit my dad used to have in the ‘80s. Contemplating actually making a boogie van out of it. Was a bit troublesome to put together but that may have been my lack of experience at the time.
  22. Very nice, looks great
  23. Saw the Chucky van again this morning; it's an orange Econoline Drag Van with Chucky airbrushed on either side. Also a '79 type GMC monster truck straight out of the 70s by the looks of it. Was parked in the Metro parking lot of all places.
  24. Finally done, looks great 👍. Like the red interior.
  25. Very nice bullet bird. Another one on my list to build.
