Here are some of my personal drawings of concept design cars; I made up a brand called "Starcrest" so some of my cars are labeled as such, and some are no-names. I will add more because I have a lot; when the other kids at school were on their cell phones, I was nose-deep in my drawing books making these artistic cars instead.

Is there a way to move a certain topic to another category? Namely a post I made in "1:1 Refernce" cars to "Auto Art" as I was confused on which category it should be in but I think it's more suitable for Auto Art.

LOOKING FOR... 1960 Plymouth Model kit
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Wanted!
I may be interested in the model, but I would have to see it; maybe put some pictures on this topic so I can see it? -
Thanks for shedding some light on the Falcon; I was trying to see the badge more clearly, but couldn’t make it out, but the 260 guess is a good possibility. My Great Uncle said both his Galaxies had the 390, but the black and white photo one was customized a bit as it had allegedly had pipes coming out from behind the front wheels though it’s rather hard to see in the photo. That ‘53 Chevy was dumped as it just stopped working I guess; it has been sitting that way since 1962, though the photo was taken last year. My parents definitely grew up in Ford families, though I’m living in a Toyota family currently as both my parents have Toyotas.

I think we have the sluggish forum problems solved

Runs smoother than the second road Lighning McQueen paved ? -
I said I would add more because I had more, so here are the last of them. To begin, we have a 1963 ford Falcon owned by my dad's father. We actually know nothing about this car, as he isn't around to tell us about it, and even my Great Uncle doesn't remember my dad's father having this car, so he must've had it for a very short time. Next, this is my Great Uncle Lauri's second 1964 ford Galaxie. It was dark green, and this is actually the one I based my 1964 AMT Galaxie model after. This photo was taken in 1965. Right here is a 1962 Ford Galaxie (mom's side of the family) that was owned by my Nonno. This was alledgedly his fourth car, and it was a burgundy four-door with a white top, and 1957 Ford hubcaps. Sitting on the fender are my Aunts. This photo was taken 1964. This is my Great Uncle Lauri and his first 1964 Ford Galaxie. Taken on a local beach in 1965. This is my grandma's father's (mom's side of the family) 1953 Chevy 210. It was brown with a white top, and the car actually still exists; (see below this photo) Taken on May 14th, 1960, the day of my grandparent's wedding. This is the same car from above., dumped in '62, according to the plate on the bumper, it was left to rot in a gully on my grandparent's property. The thing must've rolled twice before ending upside-down at the bottom of the gully (mom's side of the family) Taken 1975, this is my Nonno's 1970 Mercury Marquis, the car that replaced the '62 Galaxie. This was apparently his favourite car he owned. In the background is his first Truck, a 1963 Chevy. This is my Great Uncle Jim's 1960 Plymouth Belvedere. The photo was taken in 1962, as he chauffered my grandma (dad's side of the family) to her wedding. With her is a friend of the family who gave her away as her dad died in WW2. A little farther down from their wedding, our local Algoma West Used Cars lot is situated (now known as Deresti Motors) and there are some neat cars I figured I'd share. A better view, one can see a 1959 Chevy sedan, 1960 and '61 Chevy wagons, 1955 Buick, 1953 Chevy, 1955 Meteor wagon, and on roadside appears to be a Renault Dauphine, anywhere between '56 and '62 I believe.

Here it is, finally completed. Took a little less than a week, but it's here. Little issue with the suspension; I went with the lowered stance on the front, but it turns out it hits the ground before the wheels do, but it still looks cool. The most exotic colour I've put on any of my models, not only because it's pink, but because that was my first can of Tamiya paint.

That Corvair is real neat. If it wasn’t for the kits I have, I would have never knew Palmer Plastics existed; seems it’s not everyday you come across one.

This is the last post for here, the big reveal of the finished model will be on model cars under glass shortly.

Jumping right ahead, here is a quick mockup from a little earlier in the day. As of now, the body is fully ready to go on the chassis; just waiting for some things to dry. Last night I was able to do the trim detailing.

Real slow on my end, too

Would have posted it sooner, but there was an issue with the tailights that I wanted to resolve once I got my supplies out. Originally completed March 7th, 2021, this is the third model I ever built. Another kit my dad picked up in the 90s.

LOOKING FOR... 1960 Plymouth Model kit
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Wanted!
Definitely a challenge, I knew that was going to be. The way I see it, I'd be satisfied if at least one of three things happen: 1) I do find the JoHan kit and build my dream car, 2) I get my hands on a Sunstar 1:18 scale '60 Plymouth, as there are plenty of those about, or 3) if I can find the 1:1 car to own and drive; last year one went for sale here in Ontario for $21,000; a red four-door '60 Fury with a 6 cylinder. Though all three choices seem relatively hard to get a hold of. -
Got a whole bunch of things done last night; completed the chassis and interior. Also prepped the body for the first paint colour, as it is going to be a two-tone treatment. Should be completed on Saturday, if all goes according to plan. The driveshaft was popped back into place, as it appears out of place in the photos.

Absolutely stunning; the colour and the overall appearence of the model. The 1960 Plymouth is my favourite car of all-time, be it a Fury, Belvedere, or Savoy. The fins get me. The car's like a space ship.

LOOKING FOR... 1960 Plymouth Model kit
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Wanted!
Those are such beautiful models you have there; that '60 plymouth was one of the ones on the forum that I saw and made me aware of the hardtop kit. Lots of good advice about the kit I'm looking for; I'll see what I can do on my end to make this happen. May just have to wait a little; not in a hurry to find one -
This kit comes with the big Hemi and the clear hood, but also an orange tinted transparent bubble hood. Definitely lots of options to choose from. I must say I like this kit so far; no issues to report ?

Just got some more done last night, namely, painting all the mechanical parts beneath, and assembling the wheels. I have also sprayed the interior; it is just white. I would have done a little more last night, but I had a setback with two of my other kits; I went to open the window for ventillation, and the piece of wood we keep as a second lock slipped out of my hands, rolled off the sill, and crushed my 1970 Bonneville Custom Sports Hauler, and my 1958 T-bird. And of course those were my vintage kits I paid collectively $90 for. Surprisingly, nothing major happened, just had to glue a couple things back on. I managed to assemble the front suspension last night, but I forgot the little pins, so I had to take it apart this morning and put them in and re-assemble it.

LOOKING FOR... 1960 Plymouth Model kit
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Wanted!
A lot of good suggestions and cautions, I appreciate it guys. What would be neat to have happen is if AMT bought the rights to the JoHan molds (sorta like when Hot Wheels bought Matchbox) and re-issued all the old kits; just because it seems JoHan made kits that other Model companies didn't make, and since the brand isn't around anymore, there's a whole other side of car kits that some modelers may never build, because all that's left are original 50+ year old kits, and not many of them. -
Those are really neat! I must say I am curious to see how mine turns out; I have a neat idea for it.
-
I have never built a Stude kit before, so this will be interesting... I was also really surprised that the paints still work; I mean my dad used them to paint his kits in the late '70s early '80s and managed to keep them and that paint carosel. Some still work like new, others just turn hard. I can imagine they were pretty cheap 40 years ago, but now they're a couple bucks. I had actually brush painted an entire car with that same gold paint, my 1971 Olds kit. It's somewhere in Model Cars under the title "Goldsmobile 442" if you'd like to see it.

LOOKING FOR... 1960 Plymouth Model kit
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Wanted!
I saw that one, and another one that came with the box, yesterday, I would imagine I could strip it down to bare plastic and build it up from scratch, but I wouldn't want to get into some bidding war over something that may not be all it appears to be, as it appears to have 6 bids on it already. There's a silver one that is just "Buy Now" the same price, though it appears to have less pieces, and in crappier condition. May just have to wait; not in a hurry to find one.
