  1. Looks amazing so far! I love seeing these old 'bombs restored! Too cool!
  2. Haha! Thanks Dan! So, I started on the first and biggest job this weekend - getting the stance right. This thing is gonna need a HUGE drop and every trick in the book to get it how I want it. First up, slicing up the frame to zee it: I sliced each rail into three pieces and carefully glued them back in place, with the centre supports, on a little jig that I made: Tada! Gained about a 4 inch scale drop this way, and hopefully I can use all the stock running gear (albeit souped up a little) without TOO MANY modifications (famous last words...) Added some plates to the frame to help hold it together. Not pretty, but if I was doing this for real I'd definitely do this...plus they'll be mostly hidden when the body is on anyway I also added some half round bar to the bottom of the frame rails which I'll blend in with some putty just to make it look a little prettier Now I need to mess with the floorpan to make it fit the zee'd chassis and get that part as low as I can too. More soon!
  3. A few mock-up pics - just playing with the parts and working out what to do here. I think I'm going to move the interior tub up in the body so I can Z the frame and keep most of the running gear almost intact - I'm excited to see it with the wheels that I ordered though - looks just as cool as I was hoping it would!
  4. I can see them ok... Can you polish the aluminum infused resin to buff it up a little? What an interesting material!
  5. I read this tutorial a while back - it's SUPER helpful. Gonna Z my first frame using this technique here shortly. Thanks Bill!
  6. Maybe throw in a Die Hard battery?
  7. Ohhhhhh - a new build of yours! How exciting! I can't wait to see another masterpiece come together! Also, I never heard of metal infused resin before! Interesting!
  8. So, I started collecting parts for my next project for the showrod site that I'm a member of - I was thinking of combining this... With some 3d printed tyres like this... To make something like this! No build pics yet - I just got home and the kit was here waiting for me - but I'm excited about the idea! Drop it as far as possible, put some wide tyres on there, add a snowplow (because you GOTTA have a theme, right?), keep the 4 wheel drive and the stock Willys engine (but add a big blower or something to up the power output some)...it'd be a fun thing to drift around on a snowy day! Off to read the instructions and look over the parts!
  9. Ohh, interesting! I don't have both here to compare them, but interesting to know! Thanks Art! Keep us posted on your build!
  10. Oh wow - another Art Anderson build! I always LOVE your work - one of my favourite builders! Funnily enough, I just picked up the Italeri Willys Jeep keep which looks near identical to your pics - I wonder if theyre the same kit badged differently? I'll be watching!
  11. Oh wow, I'm so glad this got bumped! What a GREAT build! I love the look of it, great custom bodywork!
  12. What a great looking build so far! Your scratchbuilding skills are truly something to be admired. Cant wait to see more!
  13. What a great looking build! Good job! I actually like the wheels from the mock-up, although I might be in the minority...
  14. I've been having some real fun messing with 3D modelling this weekend - using the tools Shapeways recommends to design some custom sized tyres that were hard to find... And a simple display board stand to paint and put next to a finished model: It was surprisingly easy to do - and they're printing them today and they should arrive in the next week or so! I'm really excited - it opens up some cool new possibilities.
  15. I LOVE seing the CAD pics! I just started learning CAD because there are some parts that I want that would be difficult to scratchbuild and relatively easy to 3d print - if only I can figure it out, anyway. Your work is really inspirational - too cool! Thanks for sharing! Love this build so far, it's looking great!
  16. I have a buddy in the UK who asked me about sending some plastic parts to me so I could get them chrome plated by someone here - but the postage would be quite expensive and there's a decent chance of them getting lost in the mail... Do any of our English members here know of a chrome plating service for model parts that I can recommend to him? I figured someone here might have an idea of who's good...
  17. That Deucedsel even has fuel in the lines!
  18. I wish we had one in Manhattan - these cheap deals everyone is posting about are killing me!
  19. I loved the work you did on the rear end there - too cool!
  20. Oh wow! What a cool build! I love how it's turned out!
  21. Looks gorgeous so far! The paint and interior look great! What do you need to do next?
  22. Looks gorgeous! The interor is really nice in particular! What color did you use for the interior?
  23. Most boring looking muscle car I ever saw
  24. Great insight, thanks Misha! Me too! Can't beat a Deuce! I wouldn't mind one of those MPC 32 sedans either, I've seen a few on eBay but they're usually more than I can justify
  25. Oh dude, that SUCKS. Those mats are TERRIBLE for doing that, even on completely cured paint. I HATE those things now!
