  1. Well I used to order some Glen Levits but since I started this WW thing...I'm cutting out the alcohol!
  2. Cool! Feels good to have your hard work recognised a little bit doesn't it?
  3. Welcome aboard mate! Just so you know...the new guy gets to buy a round for all the oldtimers. I'll have an ice tea please... (I just started Weight Watchers....)
  4. I agree with you..time doesn't heal. But the more that goes by the easier it is. But it will never go away.... My thoughts are with you my friend....
  5. Love both of these models. Where did you get the tunnel ram intake manifold?
  6. Here's one..... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12996&hl=22jr
  7. Oh God...can't think of any worse news. No parent should have to endure the loss of their child, no matter how old that child is. You have my sincere condolences.
  8. What junk! It's out of scale, the valve covers are too high, the aluminum is the wrong color, the....oh of course I'm kidding! This thing is so far over the top it's unbelievable! Beautiful man...just beautiful!
  9. Thanks John...that's what I suspected it was....
  10. You're very lucky they were caughr because burglary is the least solved crime. The national average is about 8% solve rate. Its the hardest to solve because it could be anybody. Not usually known by the victim.
  11. I actually like the "Panic" AA/FA the best. But I gotta ask a question...What is the chrome rod going from the blower hat to the body firewall? I looked at a lot of pics of the car and no where did I see that particular chrome bar....
  12. I like it. But it's not a gasser style even...more like an Altered "style". Nevertheless a pretty cool model!
  13. Very nice Donn...very nice indeedy!
  14. I use the upside down lacquer thinner method too...works like a charm!
  15. If I could get car model kits of the subjects I like that were comparable to the airplane kits I buy, I would be willing to pay a comparable price. I'm talking about hot rods, drag cars and the like because although there are some excellent kits of Ferraris and Gt cars and the like, I'm simply not into those types of car models. I can only dream of Tamiya doing a Willys or 32 Ford or Camaro or something like that! But if they did and the kit was as finely made and detailed as one of their airplane kits I'd be the first one in line to get one!
  16. She sure does. The poor girl didn't see TJ go flying and she thought he was under her car and that she killed him. She was still shaking when I got there....
  17. That's pretty cool. Here in Connecticut we don't have an online option. But a dl is good for 6 years.
  18. Harry...how do you update your license photo?
  19. No question it was a tough night. Even though I've investigated or assisted or supervised the investigations of many many fatal accidents over the years, it's a hugely different thing when it's your child! So thankful for how it turned out. Thanks guys...haven't mentioned this until now just because I've had a hard time even talking much about it....
  20. I was thinking the same thing...that's a lotta paint!
  21. Late Sat night into Sunday morning around 0200, my son TJ got struck from behind on his Harley by a girl friend of his driving her Jeep Cherokee. The impact sent him flying through the air and his hip landed on the guard rail and he ended up over the side of the guard rail. The Cherokee ended up with it's front bumper on top of his seat and the bike was under the front axle! The seat was mangled as was the rear fender, tire, wheel, belt guard and other parts in the rear. No damage to anything forward of that although his left handlebar was bent downward a few degrees. He is getting better every day with no bad injuries...he's just sore all over and felt like he got into a fight with Evander Holyfield! ...and lost! Story goes like this incredibly... He was at a friends house with a bunch of other friends...some on bikes. Friend 1 leaves and heads south, followed a minute or two later by friend #2 on his bike with his girlfriend on the back. Then TJ left about 5 - 6 minutes after #2. About a mile down the road, friend #1 crashes and is on the side of the road unconscious. Friend #2 comes upon the accident and immediately parks his bike and runs over to #1 to see if he is alive or what. Girlfriend calls 911. 5 minutes later TJ is coming along and the stupid girlfriend hears him coming and jumps out into the middle of the road, right on the friggen centerline, and starts waving her arms frantically at TJ. TJ is startled by the female in the middle of the road at 2 AM and swerves to avoid her. Meanwhile his female friend is following TJ in her Jeep. She can't stop in time and she slams into TJ sending him for his aforementioned trip through the air. TJ got up and with the adrenalin flowing feels ok and runs over to #1 and immediately goes into EMT mode and attends to his buddy, #1, who is unconscious. TJ gets him conscious and does an assessment, finding lacerated face, and a triple compound fracture in right arm. Then he held his head straight (C-spine) until the ambulance people get there. I get called at 2:30 and go to the scene. Scared sheetless of course.... But TJ appears ok. It wasn't until Sunday that the soreness came upon him and he has a monster bruise on his right thigh....probably from smacking it on the guard rail I guess... Friend #1 was hospitalised and just was released today. Has a broken neck. Doctors told him that if it wasn't for TJ he would probably have been dead or at least a parplegic. He knows he has TJ to thank for his life and has said so numerous times. And this kid #1 is like a second son to me. His father was a cop with me for many years and died 7 years ago from an infection resulting from knee replacement surgery! He even calls me Pops all the time. Came close to losing both those boys that night... and no...no helmets. Although...wouldn't have mattered in this case for there were no skull injuries. Just lucky in that regard I guess. And it is unknown why #1 crashed in the first place. Where he crashed is on a sharp turn to the right. It's out in the sticks so there could have been a deer run across the road. Or there could have been a car coming at him that crowded the lane...just don't know because #1 doesn't remember a thing! I tell ya guys...ya just never know......
  22. I have a Pro Modeler 40 Ford kit and I can echo what Joe said about the instruction sheet in his 48. Same thing with the 40...a very detailed instruction sheet showing photos of an actual car. In addition it has a sheet of silk screened decals instead of the normal type decals.... Other than that I don't know...can't see anything special...
  23. Throw some paddle tires on the rear and some big 'ol air cleaners and you'd have a pretty cool sand drag buggy!
  24. Mike's right. They're pretty close... All the info I could find put the Dusters at anywhere from 120 to 390 pounds heavier than the Gremlin...depending on the engine/trans combo... One guy on the A-Bodies forum had his 74 Duster weighed at the track and it weighed 3415 pounds. And that was with a half tank of gas, factory AC, 318, aluminum intake, 4BBL, 904 trans, 8 1/4 rear, and no spare tire. And another little bit...if you plan to build the car for the stock or super stock classes...the 360 was never offered in the Gremlin...only the 304. And that was offered for the first time in the 72 model and was dropped midway through the 76 year. AMC made only 826 Gremlins with the 304 in 76. Of course, as far as modeling goes, the only reason that would make any difference would be in what decals you put on the model because externally the 304 and the 360 are the same. Like a small block chevy...they all look the same on the outside from a 265 through a 400....
  25. Wow...you are moving right along on this build! Speed AND quality! Good work!
