61 to 64 ford pickup glass
roadhawg replied to disabled modeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Modelhaus lists vacuum formed glass sets for '61-'63 Ford pickups for $3.50.....very reasonable! http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?page=2&...p;Submit=Search -
Excellent project idea, and really looking good so far. I DO have a question, though.....what do you plan to do about the decals?

'65? That sure looks like a '67 to me. -
At least ya had a clean screen.......I can't believe you didn't like my bug! (Stomps off in disgust!)

Looks great! Very clean build!

Pretty dang cool there, Ron! You think Pop's Texaco might wanna sponsor an ol' Taurus late model asphalt car I'm plannin' on building from a Nascar kit?

Jerry, I bet a lot of today's generation don't even know who Wendell Scott was. The movie "Greased Lightning" is based on Scotts life, and was filmed around my hometown, Athens GA. Its one of my favorite racing movies. The villian in the movie was Beau Welles, and the gold and black '55 Chevy he drives was actually my best friends car at the time, Tommy Haynes. He won quite a few races in that car. Its a great little movie, worth seeing for any race fan... although I doubt they could get away with making it today, with all the political correctness BS we got! By the way, I mentioned the villian, Beau Welles.......Welles was played by Earl Hindman, who went on to become famous as "Wilson" on the TV show "Home Improvement". Great job on that ol' Ford, as usual. You got any more of Wendell's cars we can see?

Nick, thats your best effort yet! That looks great! Pretty impressive considering that AIN'T the best building kit in the world. As soon as I saw the first pic, I thought "Bandit". But you DO need to get that Georgia plate on the front, I agree. Great job on an awesome car! I REALLY like!

Your first attempt at BMF was a success!! Nice lookin' Chevelle! And welcome to the forum!

I'd go with Missing Link. I ordered from them and had my part in less than a week. Great products, great service! It took me six months and numerous emails (which he doesn't really have time to answer....) to get anything from Reliable. Oh, you'll eventually get it, and its good stuff....just be prepared for a wait and a bunch of emails. Think about it this way.....any business that asks that you NOT air any concerns in public should raise a red flag.

Good luck! They're tedious, so take your time! Can't wait to see it. -
Can you guess what's missing here?
roadhawg replied to LUKE'57's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been admiring Jerry's work for 5 years now....as soon as I clicked on the thread and saw the picture, I knew EXACTLY what was missing!!! Looks great for a non-race car! -
I finished the recycling job on the '60 Buick

Wow! An absolutley beautiful rebuild of a georgous car! My hat is off to you, sir! -
Sorry I'm late! I spent all day saturday over at the NNL, but I DID manage to get some late friday night shots......what a mess, huh?

I just love unusual subjects, and this is just soooooo nice! Excellent job!

You guys are waaaay too kind, but I do appreciate it! I find it hard to believe that a '68 GTX has never been kitted. We had a '67, and a '69, and we had a '68 Road Runner, which this is converted from, but never a '68 GTX. I think the '68 looks better that the '69, but thats just me. You can build one of these by modifying the RR kit and using the Keith Marks decal set.
-
Thanks again, Y'all.... Yes, they are quite thin, so take your time and be careful. Also, the whole sheet is clearcoated, so you'll have to cut each decal out as close to the ink as possible. They snuggle down quite nice with solvaset. I've used several of his sets, and I've never had a problem with them.
-
Rusty? Man, thats beautiful! I'm about to start on that kit....gonna make a short bed out of it. I hope mine turns out HALF as nice as yours!!! And I hope you feel better soon!
-
Again, thanks, Y'all! No, I used the AMT kit hinges and glued them to the hood, since this is the way I'll be displying it. This makes the hood unable to close, but I made it so it CAN be removed. I've thought about painting a second hood to use just for that. It's built from the AMT '68 Road Runner kit. I added the body mouldings and made the grille from a '66 Chevelle photoetch piece. The taillight panel is a Keith Marks decal. It's hard to believe, but a '68 GTX has never been kitted. I'm sure it would be a big seller!

Thanks so much, guys! Bill, yes, those are Keith Marks decals. I got distracted while I was posting this and forgot to mention it. I also forgot to mention all the advice I got from Fury3....without his expertise, I could have never gotten the details right! I think the next time the phone rings while I'm posting something, whoever is calling will just have to leave a message!

Well, guys, here she is! I know, I know...it's about time I actually finish something! Lol. Ever since my dad came home in this car when I was a kid, I've wanted to build a model of it. Since he passed away earlier this year, this is somewhat of a tribute to him. I'm reasonably happy with the way it turned out, although I sorta wish I had went ahead and opened the doors. Oh, well....maybe next time! Thanks for looking!

I watched a biography on Mr. T yesterday on TV, he's really a cool guy in person it sounds like. The new A-Team movie is gonna be kinda stupid without him. Great job on him!!

My camera batteries are dead, or I would......but this would make a great thread to keep going. Every saturday, post pics of the workbench! I'll do it next week.

You know it's a bad build night...

LOL! I once had a cat that would steal parts off my table. I thought I was just losing stuff or misplacing it, till one day I moved the bed to shampoo the carpet and found her little stash of parts. The things animals do!
