  1. Here are the georgous BFG big n littles w/slots that he just started casting. I almost hate to put 'em on anything....I just want to sit and look at 'em all day!
  2. This past Saturday at the Bonneville Salt Flats, Georgia's Bobby Cleveland set a new land speed record of 96.529 MPH, breaking the old record by 8 MPH. I know, 96.529 doesn't sound THAT fast.....except he did it on a Briggs And Stratton powered lawnmower.
  3. A guy in our club did the review on that dozer for IPMS. Thats a cool little kit. http://www.mountainmodelers.org/gmm_watercooler/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=842
  4. I think they make these dash cover thingies that are made out of carpet. I've seen 'em at Pep Boys and certain flea markets...
  5. I get the opportunity the see lots of cool stuff in my travels. I saw this one in Texas......... This one I caught in New York City.......... And this one passed me going about 90 MPH on I-81 in Virginia....
  6. This part isn't quite right. While hobby acrylics are indeed water based, automotive acrylic enamel is not. "Acrylic" means the paint contains a polymer emulsion that rises to the surface as it cures. There are water based acryics, enamel (oil) based acrylics, and even acrylic lacquers. What AgentG said is about right. You should use a proper respirator, because it IS toxic stuff. If you need to thin it, you should use acylic enamel reducer made for whatever brand of paint it is. You can clean up with lacquer thinner.
  7. Oh, it's over my head too! But I figure at the very worst, I'll just ruin a body!
  8. Oops, almost forgot....the rear window is bigger on a '51/'52 also.
  9. I'm actually working on this conversion now, converting the Monogram '50 to a '52 using the Ken Kitchen grill/dash. Be aware its not an easy conversion...the whole front end has to be cut away and rebuilt with styrene, and the hood is quite different too....not the shape, but the trim. Actually, there's difference between a '51 and a '52 hood. I'll be glad to send you pictures of the process, but due to other things, its going to be awhile before I finish it.
  10. I thought this was a real shop 'till I saw that dude laying on his side over there.
  11. A guy in our club used a method similar to this on an F-84 jet a couple of years ago, using both the shiny side and the dull side to represent different panels, and it was awesome. Question....how does the Elmers spray glue hold up over time? Any "loosening"?
  12. That does sound like a weird ratio. Like Chas says, the standard for most brands is 4:1:1. The dehydrator isn't going to do much...catalyzed finishes "cure" by chemical reaction, not "air" or heat.
  13. Because EVERYBODY does it that way! Seriously, you got me wanting to do some experimenting. Gonna try it.
  14. Ah ha......here you go: http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html I been driving trucks for 35 years, but never got into buildin' 'em because I never liked the kit tires and wheels. These look fantastic, but at 100 bucks....whew! This is very interesting for sure.
  15. I think its something like multiply by 1 and a half to get dollars.....10 funny L would be 15 US Dollars, or pretty close.
  16. Just a plain ol' pipette is what I use. A spoon might be kinda messy.
  17. Gary, personally, I don't use that quart mixing cup...that would waste too much clear. I have a 1 oz airbrush bottle dedicated to clear, that I have measured and marked to the correct ratios.

    '66 Nova

I have a soft spot for Nova's! Very nicely done. Those Rally Wheels look great on there, and your engine detailing really stands out.
  19. I've always done it pretty much the same as Len, shooting at 30-35 lbs, except for Alclad, which is 10 or so. I'm somewhat intrigued/puzzled by your method, Chas, but maybe I'm not following it correctly. You say you have 1-2 lbs at the compressor and 7-10 lbs at the "tip"? How is that possible? Mine drops a few lbs through the line, not gains....not much, but it does drop a little. If I only had 1-2 lbs at the compressor, it wouldn't spray anything at all.
  20. 3 days? Dunno, man....where I come from, you can clear after 30 minutes. Like the others say, go by the manufacters recommendations.
  21. Lacquer thinner.
  22. Beautiful model for sure, but that engine is exceptional! Don't know where he got his, but you can get some here.
  23. It wasn't you either....you had a legitimate question. I just thought it was very rude and in poor taste for a resin caster to be asking for input for his products and another competitor steal his thread and try to sell his own stuff and steer people to his own site, thats all. Tacky tacky tacky.
  24. You're not the hijacker. BTW, that Dart is pretty cool....I'd like to have one of those myself!
