  1. Years ago, the ISCA had a rule in 1:1 car shows that you couldn't enter the same car after one year, without radical changes. Maybe model clubs should think about a rule similar to that? Or wait....I have a better idea.....create a new award for "Model That Has Been Entered In The Same Contest The Most Times".
  2. Not to mention all them Ozzy Osbourne CDs they sell.....makin' kids go out and hang themselves.
  3. That wouldn't be wal Mart....that would be the states that sell lottery tickets, wouldn't it?
  4. Looks good! I like the color choice....it's different. I'll be starting on a '61 Starliner in the next couple of weeks, so I'll keep an eye on yours. I hope you have plenty of Bare Metal Foil!
  5. Or if you're lazy, like me, you could just buy one of these.
  6. Been through 3 of 'em.......an assasin would be cheaper than a lawyer.
  7. Nick, I've used epoxy, clear paint, and tiny drops of superglue, but here is the method that has worked best for me. I first polish the photoetch scripts....get 'em nice and shiny.....then attach them using superglue BEFORE painting. After painting, I use a toothpick and lacquer thinner to carefully clean off the scripts. That way, you don't really have to worry about messing up your finish with stray glue, and the paint actually helps hold them on I believe. The photoetch scripts on this Starliner were done that way...
  8. For what it's worth, this guy sells tire decals on Ebay. I've used them and they're really nice. You get a large sheet too. http://cgi.ebay.com/Decals-model-muscle-car-tires-white-letters-1-/170593566355?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b82b3e93
  9. Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Three of us from Canton, huh? Wow...small world. Actually, I'm not FROM Canton, I've just lived here for the last 6 years. I actually grew up over in Athens. Nick, don't hold your breath on the '72, it'll be awhile....I got a few more projects to get done first!
  10. This was the third car I ever owned....a 1969 Nova with a 230 6 cylinder/Powerglide combo. This car was as plain as they come, except for a black vinyl top....it didn't even have carpet, just a rubber floor mat. I had big plans for this car....I was thinking big block 4 speed, but being a kid fresh out of high school, my ambitions were much bigger than my finances. I did manage to get some Rally wheels and Goodyear tires on it...and the requisite 8 track tape deck, but thats about as far as I got. This is built from the excellent Revell SS kit. I removed the fender gills, as my car didn't have the optional decor package. The grill, hood, and bench seat came from Missing Link. The engine is from a Trumpeter '63 Nova, and the Powerglide came from M.A.D. Paint is Cortez Silver and the vinyl top is 3M masking tape. I scratchbuilt an 8-track for under the dash. Since my car was a driver, I decided to weather the chassis and engine. I had a lot of fun in this car, even if it WAS a 6 banger....spent a lot of weekend nights cruising Athens GA. I ended up trading it for my first BRAND NEW car, a '72 Nova SS350......hmmm, do I sense another upcoming model project?
  11. It turns out VERY well built the way Ken is talking about. Here is one I built for a review. The only paint used was red for the engine block and interior parts, and a little cream for the interior door panels. BMF was used for the gauge bezels. Other than that, everything is the way it's molded. This build took less than a day, from opening the box to taking pictures. I plan on picking up a few more to play around with on slow days!
  12. Oh, me too! I'm hoping I'll at least get some good inspiration there!
  13. Combine the forthcoming Hardtop kit with a Modelhaus Starliner body and you're good to go.
  14. I'm not sure. I know some of my fellow club members were talking about going, and I checked my schedule to make sure I'm off that day. If I can get everything worked out just right, I'll be going.
  15. I had the same same issue. I just said to heck with it and logged out. When I logged back in a couple of days later, it had changed. Must be a delayed reaction. Lol.
  16. The old Tom Daniels Beer Wagon kit.
  17. I think I have 2 or 3 of those barrels that came with the Beer Wagon if you want 'em.
  18. Yes, I'm about 99% sure they do.
  19. Never hauled anything I would consider weird, but one of the most interesting was some aircraft refueling carts that I delivered to Atlanta Hartsfield Airport. I had to have a special escort to lead me down the runway while airliners were sittin' there waiting on me to get out of the way. This was in the pre-911 days. They probably wouldn't even allow me out there now. Don't know about grass seed, but I've hauled pre-packaged firewood (like convienence stores sell) and it has to be refrigerated too. Its to control bugs.
  20. Thanks again, y'all. Charlie, the 8 track is simply some bits of sheet styrene glued together, with some plastic rod for knobs. The bracket was cut from a Coke can....an EMPTY Coke can.
  21. I guess every town has had its own "unauthorized dragstrip"....you know, the place everybody goes to see who has the fastest car in town? When I was growing up in the 70s in Athens Georgia, that certain place was at the end of Tallassee Road, on a short stretch of highway 330. We had a quarter mile marked off, and just about every saturday night someone was out there to settle a score. I was down there recently and stopped to reflect for a moment. It looked like it had been a looooooong time since anyone had done a burnout here. Maybe kids don't race like that anymore, I don't know. The starting line was just past that change of color in the asphalt, and the finish line was just before that curve down there. Oh, the fun we had here, and the stories I could tell, but don't want to bore anyone....and suprisingly, nobody ever got hurt. Quite a few cars had to be towed away, though, with busted transmissions and such. Lol. Anyway, I grabbed my cell phone, snapped a pic through the windshield of my pickup, and thats what I have up today....
  22. What George said. I've also used stretched sprue.
  23. Why don't you try doing what they do on REAL cars.....tape off and repaint the trunk? As long as it's not some candy or transparent paint, you shouldn't have an issue matching it. I'd at least try it, before stripping an otherwise good paint job.
  24. Trapped inside your monitor. Let me out!
  25. Here ya go, Lee........ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35299&st=0&p=360205&fromsearch=1&#entry360205
