  1. there are 12 seperate hinges in this set the instructions say to use 2 per door. also they have different sizes . I think they are a pretty good value.
  2. pretty much any of the ford vans cuckoos nest ,disco van , etc. the black ones are from the mpc juke box van just so you don't have to buy that one and be disappointed although I like the mpc over the amt I think it looks better overall . and avoid the revell vans because they suck .
  3. depending on the parts you are mocking up you could also try pinning it which involves small plastic rod and holes drilled slightly smaller so it is good and tight this is a useful technique for parts that need to be placed consistently several times with the added bonus of adding strength by gluing and then flush cutting when finished with test fitting .
  4. heres some pics of the hood hinges and the door hinges
  5. here's a side shot
  6. It is coming along great the foil looks pretty good all things considered. having a sharp blade is very important,as is using the correct tool for the job . just remember as you build more these things become easier and easier .keep up the good work I look forward to seeing more !
  7. Nice job on the engine in the 250 looks pretty decent but the revell body doesn't look right .the pictures from the front look good though. and you did a fine job putting it all together. keep it up it's always a pleasant surprise to see what you build next.
  8. here's a couple of pictures of the amt(white) and mpc(black) I beams from the van kits I think the AMT may be the ticket . hope these are helpful.
  9. I think that is awesome. You certainly made it look easy, but I know better.
  10. That is pretty cool,I like it.
  11. those bring back some memories .I sure miss the Light Commercial days I always enjoyed the subject matter and you did a great job showing us what was out there and how to build more accurate replicas.
  12. I think the amt and mpc ford vans had that setup .
  13. unfortunately there aren't many good 4x4 kits most of the time scratch building is your best option.three or four inches suspension lift could easily be accomplished by extending the shackles and using risers on the leaf springs . plastruc or evergreen plastic strips should do the trick. if you need kit parts to get you started look for the revell mad mudder it hasn't been out for awhile but has some good parts. you could also try the amt ford pick up from model king or the amt ford bronco . also check out desert racing modellers site it is the best place for off road models.and don't forget to check out the military section of your local hobby shop as the 1/35th large trucks have tons of usable parts for an off road rig.hope this helps good luck! and welcome aboard.one more thing check out so real concepts they have some sweet wheels and some diecasts that may interest you ,you know for parts.
  14. Looks like a cool project .I look forward to seeing more.
  15. I don't know what is wrong with me............... after struggling with the interior I realized it would be much easier if I cut out the doors which is a little out of my comfort zone .After removing the doors it allowed me to get the rear wheel wells in place, which also helped get the chassis fit, which allows me to access the interior way easier, which ultimately helps the interior .In other words by trying something harder it made a lot of other things easier .So all I have to do is a decent job on those doors .to help that this is what I will be using as hinges while going through my collection of often unused P.E. parts I found this which is out of era but the design allows the hood to go below level which is necessary due to the slope of the hood and once painted should look unobtrusive. if you have any tips on either of these feel free to let me know as I don't hinge stuff very often. Oh yeah space limitations force me to suicide the doors and thats o.k. I would rather the doors open normally but the rear of the door is more straight vertically making it easier for me to hinge.critiques welcome .
  16. I think the grille still has little work to go however I like where it's headed. As for the engine I'm leaning towards the M.E.L. but I haven't decided yet. Thanks for the compliment. Looks good! You sectioned the grille opening, right? It looks slimmer now. Keep up the good work! About using your camera; try a neutral background to start with. Other than that, most of your pics are good. Modellpularn, yes I did section the grille opening.Thank you for the pointers and the compliments.
  17. thank you! I t looks pretty sweet!
  18. Marshall can you give a report on how that bondo works for you I generally stay away from bondo but lately I can't find evercote anywhere. Gee Whiz Dave everytime I think you have run out of tips BLAM you lay down the most useful info ever. I never even thought about using resin for thinning out body filler .one of my biggest problems with that two part stuff is it comes out a little too thick for me to do what I'm accustomed to.
  19. great job on that interior it looks great!the hauler looks cool I hope you finish it!
  20. you can also try sliding a small wire, I have found that welding wire is a nice size ,inside plastic tubing to help keep the shape .if you are just using plastic you should be using rod (solid)instead of tubing as it doesn't squish when bent.also if you do decide to use heat ala open flame be careful as a lot of the materials and glues can catch fire easily .I know it is common sense but it bears repeating .another option for roll cages would be solder of appropriate size or craft wire from michaels .you can always use epoxy to get stuff to stick together.
  21. here are some pictures of the new revell 36 ford it looks mostly like the old kit with some extra pieces it has been awhile since I built this model but I don't remember the the stock hood louvers being open but they are now .on to the pictures..... let me know if you need more or have a question.
  22. Wow very ambitious .looks like you are off to a great start ,I can't wait to see how this one progresses and I love the overlays it already looks like the predictor.
  23. a combo of the tijuana taxi and some older bits and pieces. the rear tires are from a duesenburg the rims and front tires from the 27 ModelT the engine is from the 28 lincoln roadster.I found some pretty good pictures of the engine but I can't quite figure out where the intake and the exhuast are located exactly so my custom touches to those areas will be purely fictional but hopefully feasable. I also added front doors and the top windsheild frame. the interior will be slightly different but not much.I am attempting to keep this conversion simple by using mostly parts from the Tijuana taxi and just adding details that fit the look I am going for . thanks for looking suggestions, comments, questions and criticism welcome!
  24. I am beginning work on the interior it is coming along slowly . I was going to use some bucket seats and a console but I think the bench seat would be better for smoochin' the ladies.plus it gives me an opportunity to try some custom touches, like the diamond pattern and some tuck and roll vertically. this is the start of the seat now that I kinda know where I'm going it should start falling together a little faster. Next up some pics of a few of the parts that have found their way onto or off of or just nearby this build,it doesn't include the three or four complete kits I keep going back to for parts. thanks for looking!
