  1. Don't use mineral spirits to thin your paint it is ok to clean up with but I wouldn't mix it with any thing becuase it doesn't evaporate as well as lacquer thinner .and if you are using the lacquer paints you can go start to finish in an evening .Treehugger Dave has a wonderful tutorial on this subject if you follow his technique carefully they way he has it laid out you should have a top notch paint job in no time. good luck and keep at it also don't expect to be a pro your first time out ,finish what you start and correct problem areas on the next one .
  2. you made it home? I think I had the plastic off before I got to my car.
  3. perhaps the old aluminum foil with epoxie spread on it for strength would work or I think that you can get sheets in .005 thickness but that may still be to thick . I don't know you are way better at this stuff than me but perhaps this will help change your perspective enough to come up with a solution.
  4. also the revell 34 ford is a goood lookin kit right out of the box. the 57 chevy,63 vette and 70 chevelle are also good kits . and for all out ease of assembly the jada speed racer cars can be built in ten minutes and the stickers are the hardest part but gives you an opportunity to "help" . some of the snaps from the eighties are not as forgiving as the current crop available .and also the revell kits come in three colors usually so any of those should be fine.
  5. that's a pretty cool conversion, and you built it beautifully.I like the color and the decals.
  6. I like how they don't make any claims themselves but present reported gains and what the customers sent them including the dynos . hey maybe it would work for that spray booth ......
  7. Also be specific with your questions as there are so many ways to go about the process of building a model .take a little time and read through some of the archives here and when you come across something that is of interest and want to tackle something you haven't tried yet ask away!also don't try to do everything perfectly the first model you build just take a certain technique and focus on that. over time you will develop the skills to build top notch models.
  8. nice job Curt .I haven't seen this one built in awhile you did great with what is there .
  9. I picked up a book on ebay with a pic of you and the other winners along with other cars from the circuit .
  10. Ifn yorn that old sumthin aint right!Happy birthday and probly whach out fer dem surprise attac er parties.also if you are from somewhere around mars it takes you longer than most for a year to pass so jeez you are older than George thought.
  11. Curt you are an excellent modeller I enjoy your style !
  12. Nice caddy,I also like the colors and your treatment in the trunk. I would love to see more of these !
  13. I like it.
  14. I've noticed that it likely used to be a white car as the inside of the trunk was white as were the door jambs.
  15. I like it I think you did a nice job.but I also think it looks too clean.did you have any problems with the decals?

you do fine work ,Bruno.but my advice would be to forget about the household projects and concentrate on more models for us to look at .welcome!
  17. that is one reet ride!
  18. That is sweet.I especially enjoyed the whole thing.
  19. So are you gonna use those screws as details on skwirly when they come out? wishing you a speedy recovery.
  20. The only thing I would blame Tim Boyd for is inspiring and encouraging modellers for the last 30+ years. the price of the treatment is roughly 4 or 5 bucks for an ounce well my bottle lasted at least 7 years so I fail to see the merit in buying carnuba wax in bulk if I won't use it plus who wants a pound of car wax sitting in their tool box where space is at a preimium any way ?the size of the container is a plus and the product works ,so what's 5 bucks every 7 years?
  21. That really has the feel of a jag enthusiasts dream car great stance and color the wheels look great I love it .
  22. I was just wondering how this one is coming along
  23. can these pics be reposted?
  24. amt did several versions of the toyota as a snap together and revell did a nissan(datsun) as a snap too and I think revell also did a targa top toyota again as a snap together.I think the mpc datsuns are my favorite. and I thought ashhh was asking for pics of builts .
  25. I loved the work in progress and to see this one finished is inspiring, it turned out great!thanks for the history lessons and multitude of tips and techniques. We need more start to finish projects that clearly state the intentions from the beginning and follow it to the end .again great job
