  1. that is sweet is it a resin kit or did you do that side trim yourself? also is there a photetch set for this?again that is totally sweet !
  2. for the record I would also like to see more kits of current or at least popular trucks that early bronco seems like a no brainer.and the foreign trucks also seem like a good Idea . but man it sure would be sweet to have some nicely done off road parts .
  3. great work .I like this kind of conversion something different and you made it look real I don't know where you truck guys get it but I truly enjoy a well built truck.
  4. here's a couple in the same vein of this thread I got a few wips that I need to post elsewhere. this one you've seen
  5. Nice clean build ,I like the detailing you did and the red accents really make it work!
  6. Long time no see , I think you should cut off the extra doors for a regular cab and keep the short bed .
  7. excellent paint job,I like the lowrider treatment.
  8. just kidding that is gonna be awesome!
  9. oh jeez ,why ?
  10. there is alot of stuff at michaels that can be used to scratch build stuff but you didn't say what you want to scratch build .if your grandparents are in st louis there ought to be a hobby store there which is probably going to be where you would find the plastic rods and tube ,strips and sheets .for those having a bunch of different sizes is preferable.if you are just starting out you can give glazing putty a try available at the auto parts store.when you get into major body work try out some two part catalyzing putty the kind with the blue catalyst not the red.back to michaels they have various sizes of wire in the floral dept . in the jewelery isle ther are some pliers used for bending and shaping wire (which is also in this isle but the floral stuff is much cheaper)you can also find metal foil and wire mesh ,gold leafing supplies, clay, clay tools.... dude there is just so much out there you just need to figure out what you want to build then look for the items needed to complete the task.scratch building is just a matter of breaking the whole into basic parts that can be combined. hope this is helpful also try reading through the tips section for more detailed techniques.
  11. It's lookin sweet, the chop looks perfect!like the colors and rim choice I wonder how those lo pro tires would look as white walls.
  12. great advice so far, however, I would also recommend using the testors lacquer paint instead of the enamel. it goes on so much better and dries really fast .
  13. Congratulations George, maybe Carter can show you how to post pics.
  14. for the hi lux wheels you could try some of the fine off road wheels from so real concepts.they are not stock but they sure are cool.as for the clear parts try making your own windows by placing a piece of tape across the window opening and tracing the opening then carefully remove tape and place on a piece of clear plastic and cut out slightly larger than the line you traced you may have to trim a little to get the fit just right start with the rear window then the sides and that should give enough practice to attempt the windsheild. as for headlight covers and tail lights im not sure .good luck and look forward to seeing your builds.
  15. epoxy or clear paint .
  16. great job!I love those old illustrations,I wish we could get those parts from the lil t.
  17. looks great I like your choice to not use the rally decals it looks realy cool.
  18. well just hang in there perserverence is important and it looks like it was turning out very nice . and definitely get the purple stuff so you don't have to sand so much especially when the paint is so fresh.keep up the good work.
  19. looks interesting ,I would like to see any progress you make on this one, however given the slow pace this one is taking I don't think my eyesight will make it to the year 2085.

    32 Ford

The entire thing is wonderfully done I especially like the grille and the floor boards .great weathering.
  21. Looks really cool.I like the set up what car is going in that trailer?
  22. Don't use mineral spirits to thin your paint it is ok to clean up with but I wouldn't mix it with any thing becuase it doesn't evaporate as well as lacquer thinner .and if you are using the lacquer paints you can go start to finish in an evening .Treehugger Dave has a wonderful tutorial on this subject if you follow his technique carefully they way he has it laid out you should have a top notch paint job in no time. good luck and keep at it also don't expect to be a pro your first time out ,finish what you start and correct problem areas on the next one .
  23. you made it home? I think I had the plastic off before I got to my car.
  24. perhaps the old aluminum foil with epoxie spread on it for strength would work or I think that you can get sheets in .005 thickness but that may still be to thick . I don't know you are way better at this stuff than me but perhaps this will help change your perspective enough to come up with a solution.
  25. also the revell 34 ford is a goood lookin kit right out of the box. the 57 chevy,63 vette and 70 chevelle are also good kits . and for all out ease of assembly the jada speed racer cars can be built in ten minutes and the stickers are the hardest part but gives you an opportunity to "help" . some of the snaps from the eighties are not as forgiving as the current crop available .and also the revell kits come in three colors usually so any of those should be fine.
