  1. looks great. glad you decided to make time and show us what you are working on.
  2. they are the 8" ones . and they are great for kids.
  3. Nice call on those wheels .I also think this is a neat looking car and you did a great job with it.
  4. Nice build. love the extra detailing you did. and those wheels really set it off so they were probably worth the price!
  5. another great one . you are an artist.
  6. I think if you are just detail painting you shouldn't have any problems unless you try to go over really fresh paint. it is just when you are spraying that it becomes a problem . I have had problems brushing tamiya paints over enamels.
  7. I recognize those guys and recall some of their later work but I think you were right up there with them.I would love to hear more and see some pics if there are any .I always knew those contests were a pretty big deal but I never knew why. Thanks for the history lesson!
  8. welcome I look forward to seeing some of your builds. And don't ask george 53 how to add pics to a post.also not sure where you are in terms of rediscovery but be sure to look around and see what others are using for materials and detailing items .a lot has changed even in the last couple of years in regards to paint especially. so skip past those old enamels and jump staight to the lacquers.
  9. That's just crazy enough to work.
  10. that's pretty cool I like the base and repositioning of the skeleton not to mention the car. also this is such a stand out show car it never occurred to me that it would have the changes that you called out .which is a valuable lesson on the importance of research.

    The Joker

I agree with everyone else! also I especially like the way you handled the less than smooth stock headlight area there isn't much you can do but you did it.
  13. All I see is a nicely built model ,like the colors you used and the details you added are all pretty consistent so what would you change if you were to build the same kit again? I would also add that I haven't seen this kit built up in awhile so nice choice.keep on building and keep us posted.
  14. I'm curious about the canned air too as most of my building time is in the evening and it wouldn't hurt to have a dependable propellant on hand that is silent .I am also aware of the air tanks that you can get and fill up at the gas station but a airbrush specific product would be preferred.

    55 Chevy 4x4

Nice lookin' truck .looked at some of the other builds and there are quite a few impressive builds as well .in regards to this one, did you open up the wheel wells ?the color is perfect and I like the additon of the stuff in the bed and the for sale sign it adds up to character.I dig it!
  16. I always wondered if there was some kind of track or specifically designed wall system for those cause it does seem like a bad Idea unless you really hate your model.
  17. you could try making a new windsheild by placing a piec of tape to the outside of the windsheild trace around the opening then remove the tape carefully and place onto a piece of clear plastic then cut out slightly larger than the line you traced.making a dirt screen type would be the same technique however you would have to find some suitable mesh material that looks good to you. you can find mesh material in a variety of places such as michael's craft store or hardware store sometimes you find it in the weirdest places . hope this helps good luck.
  18. looks sweet and the paint is so nice it almost looks like a larger scale good job lets see what you do with the other kits you took the pieces off.
  19. I think you are referring to the 56 ford with opening doors that didn't go together very well ,that one can be a chalenge .the 53 flip nose goes together ok it has basic detailing but a good place to start if you want to add more detail the only place that may be some what difficult would be the flip nose itself however I think a little careful building should give decent results . if you want something a little more stock or 60's custom the amt kit is the way to go.hope this helps.
  20. Look here now if you are just gonna wreck this thing why not just pass it along to some one who can appreciate it.
  21. It was that green color. I was impressed with how well the lacquer paint covered the the old color.
  22. I had no idea that the storm had 4 cylinders I thought all the Geos from that era were 3 cylinder specials.now I am going to edit my previous post so nobody will know!
  23. actually with a 4 cylinder motor and those huge wheels I needed to save weight every where possible since it won't go more than 30 mph every thing will be out in front so who needs mirrors. seriously though it came without the mirrors .and for those of you that didn't know it was the metro that had a 3 cylinder motor.
  24. This is a 1991 Geo storm promo that I disassembled painted with Testors One Coat Lacquer Flaming orange two coats and one coat of the Testors One Coat Lacquer Wet Look Clear . I was able to get all the paint on over the course of an evening which bodes well for me in the future as painting with enamels that took weeks to cure enough to polish out was a major stumbling block for completion of my builds. I used Frog tape to mask off the roof as it couldn't be removed from the "glass" the tape performed very well .The wheels were found in the ol' parts box but fit quite nicely.Over all I think the paint and rims almost make the storm look cool but not quite I hope you are as amused as I am!
  25. looks great especially considering what you started with ! only thing I would change is the trailer I think Big Red is itchin to put that 454 to the test and pull a fifth wheel trailer ! again I think it looks great keep it up.
