I think it looks awesome and the hood air cleaner combo while not conventional with no scoop looks great and I like it. Nicely worked in with the shaping and air cleaner. What did you paint the washer bottle with to get it that blue/transparant look. Almost looks like you filled it with blue washer fluid and sealed the bottom.

Looks awesome! What did you use for the wood on the dash?

The factory color is a little more pail, but there is a yellow. If you do a search on the internet you may find one that I wish I had seen sooner, it is the SC360 like I built, yellow, but with a green interior. Not the most attractive, but I am sure very rare, seller thought it was one of one, looked to be untouched and very original. Car needed restored, but it looked very legit for what was there.

I thought about the shock tower supports and may add later, there is room for hood clearance. I tried a couple of time with the side marker lights and my wash was just not working. Chrome and the lines are kind of thick there. I may need to spend more time with it by letting it dry and then buffing off high areas. When I was looking at real cars the light is really narrow and just could not get it quite right when I tried it, then got in a hurry to get it without engine detail to NNL East for resin theme, then kind of lost interest it. Just glad I got it to the point where it is now. I do appreciate the feedback. Always looking to improve it.

1969 Daytona in Silver and red - Completed!
KevinMoparFord replied to KevinMoparFord's topic in Model Cars
After a real car. I was going to use red lines until someone posted a picture, he must have removed it but here is a link to Bob Malcom car that I used to model it from. http://www.bobmalcom.com/all%20pix/100_7677.JPG -
1969 Daytona in Silver and red - Completed!
KevinMoparFord replied to KevinMoparFord's topic in Model Cars
The decal I used is from Keith Marks, and his are more red then the ones that came in the kit. I painted the wing using Model Master Insignia Red, thineed with Testor's air brush thinner and then air brushed, no clear. Sme polishing with Novus to get some dirt out. Not sure what the deal was with kit decals but I ruined 3-4 red ones, could not get them to not tear. Not sure if mine were all old or what. -
Finished the 69 Silver Metallic Daytona. Red stripe looks bad in the photos, not as bad in person. Ready for the Mopar Nationals! http://public.fotki.com/Kevin60brd/69-silver-daytona/

If you can find some old Satco ones they are nice, unfortunately out of business but you see them sometimes on evilbay. I used them on my 68 Charger. I also like the red lines that come in the pro modeler Daytona kit, lathough they look a little small. http://public.fotki.com/Kevin60brd/my-first-album/68-charger-side-b.html

69 Dodge Daytona Platinum with red interior
KevinMoparFord replied to KevinMoparFord's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That is the car I am trying to duplicate. I have seen it at the Mopar Nationals before. Thanks for the picture. I was going to put red line tires on it but I may need to use white walls now. -

Got the interior, chassis and body together. Was able to add in more detail to the engine bay. Connected the vacuum brake booster, battery cables, photo etch battery cable ends, radiator overflow hose, and the photo etch radiator cap. Did add the red and blue stripe to oil filter as well. http://public.fotki.com/Kevin60brd/69-silver-daytona/ -

Depends what you paint it over. It does have a slight green hue to it on mine, I ued white primer. Same color on my friend's Challenger kit over gray does not seem to be that way and looks more silver, -

Paint is Model Car World 6956 Silver Metalic lacquer with Omni Urethane clear over it. Stripe is Keith Marks. Interior is Tamiya red acrylic over Alclad gray primer which really darkened it up more than I thought. Interior was air brushed and I used Tamiya thinner. Engine color is Mopar performance street hemi orange, decanted and then air brushed, once on the parts still on the trees, then I assembled engine, added negative battery cable, glued on transmission and air brushed the assembly. -

This one is mainly for the Mopar Nationals Model contest and they will recognize it there. Even if other contests do not, I build it for me and winning a trophy not the most important thing. I ususally do mention it in the right up of detail added to model, if jusdeges read it and believe it who knows. I go to shows to have fun. I try and get something new done and if I get nice comments like I have here, especially if a color combon and car comes out good, it is all worth it. -
Moving along on this finally. Got the interior, engine and chassis just about done. Use Morgan automotive pre wired distributor, added vacuum pod from kit to this dist and added wire for vacuu line, used misc wires for PCV line, breather line, throttle cable, speaker wire for carb return spring, photo etched wire loom and throttle linkage. Tried to correctly over spray negative battery cable like the real cars. Vacuum line for brakes is sticking up of the back. Chassis is done with gray primer and then oversprayed. Exhaust pipes were cut from mufflers, attached to the manifold pieces so i could smooth out the bad joint that these can have when you assemlbe them per the instructions. Hope to have it ready for Mopar Nationals Model Car contest in August. More photos at http://public.fotki.com/Kevin60brd/69-silver-daytona/

I think it looks awesome. Would not have given much thought about making the slot car into a nice curbside model but you certainly showed it can be done.

Here is the hood if you want it. I posted here for everyone to see the quality of it from the resin caster I shall not name. -
Question for a Mopar specialist
KevinMoparFord replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you do not mind a little work, I have a flat hood from another resin vendor that I will not mention here so this post will not be censored or deleted. It took so long to get here I had ordered the Hart hood, recieved it, and then built the model by the time this one arrived. I will trade this one to you for the other hood. PM me your address if you want it. It needs some sanding to be smooth and paintable, but it is a Challenger flat hood. -

KevinMoparFord replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You can get the resin flat hood here at Harts parts, email him, I know you can just buy the hood, but I see he has the whole resin pace car conversion. I have gottent parts from him with no issues and good quality. Here is the main link. http://www.hartspartsresin.com/resin-parts-list/conversions See if this shows you the conversion, was a long cut and paste so not sure it is all there but you can find it through the above link. https://57ccb717-a-62cb3a1a-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/hartspartsresin/resin-parts-list/conversions/71%20chall%20pace%20car%20conv.JPG?attachauth=ANoY7cou79eLClF5Zfxx-sNdxpDBiFiNyWkrezRlnGITC_14EL5b39D46Yf-b9qxc2Y4kGOfS814BGUXmnul-PucFKm12CxgluT6yGJCXF_yI0Qh0clQSYJlRcZqoCXmFwlKurMxQy6culRjYkCvLLKAQD-V20tBjlohVy9bvvRtZHON8moszellBevLgNa_AGmuAk--chFPxPC6G27vHiH3nRJYXN3YPpwe8Lywqdc-elbZB-ubVoYIK1rgEde3Af7w6E8Qtq34Z0c-sd8RpCnAQqIaLP-Ydg%3D%3D&attredirects=0 -
