  1. Come to one of the shows and talk with people and see if there is a local club in your area. I know it is aways off, but you need to go to the NNL east, you should not be far away from that, not until April 2012. Some modelers from the Philly area where at NNL in Toledo, I think they were from a club so maybe one of them can get you hooked up with where they meet.
  2. My trick for finding small parts is to take a hand held dust buster cheap vacuum, clean it out first. Vacuum the area then empty the cup on a clean sheet of paper and start looking. Found a photo etch part that way.
  3. Talked to the Revell guy at their display at NNL in Toledo and he said there are no plans for the 1/16 funny cars, that there is no money to be made there. Not sure if he is the one to make the decisions or not, but he sounded pretty negative on that scale as far as funny cars go.
  4. I went to two Ollies in Ohio, one in Oakwood had the 1/8 scale Bobtail T for $39.99, otherwise the other models were the same.
  5. Is there a link to this anywhere?
  6. The show date next year is September 30, 2012
  7. I am not on IPMS member but regularly attend their show in Columbus, Ohio each February. I know there was a comment made about noit being able to make a lot more classes to cater to automotive because clubs do not make money that way i swrong. This show used to get a lot of automotive models in the few classes they had. Then the one year they cut the auto classes in half and last year the turn out was extremely low, 3 cars in the master stock car class, pathetic. I know it is there show, I know what to expect of their judging, and I enjoy the show and will still go. What I find ridiculous is walking by a lot of empty classes for all of the armor and planes. I think there should be a happy medium of car an military clasees. The cars have no break out for scales, finally they split the large street rod class by 49 and below and then 50 and up, and a few other basic classes. Look at armor, soft armor, troop transport, 4 or 5 scales, planes, many scales, jet, propeller, WWII, and almost every other possible little division where you see little or no entries. Now if you want to talk losing money, they make 3 award plaques for each class. I could see if this was a one year fluke, but I have seen this for years and I find it odd for a club not to eveluate how many of each entry and at least try to adjust classes. I enjoy looking at the other models, I really appreciate how these guys build and know I could never build to some of their levels. I like to win, it is not my main priority for entering, but going to a show and getting a 1,2 or 3 place trophy when there are only 3 cars in the class is pretty meaningless, along with not much to look at. Makes me think about not attending anymore unless they start attracting the auto builders back. I alos attend the IPMS Kirtland show and that seems to be more acceptable to the auto entries and is a fun show as well.
  8. My everyday driver is the 2009 F150 Crew cab. Hobby car is a 1960 Thunderbird, just turned 48,000 miles. Car is unrestored, still has original paint, and has a fairly rare option of the 430 engine.
  9. I do not post too much and this is the first time trying to put up a picture. Here is my ride, a 1970 Dodge Coronet R/T. Color is FK5 Dark Burnt Orange Metalic with the white vinyl top and the car was ordered stripe deleted. I changed the wheels out from original magnum 500s to the plain steel wheel look. Second car is my 1960 Thunderbird taken in front of Rosie's Diner in Cadilac, Michigan, just north of Grand Rapids. This car has only 48,000+ miles and is unrestored. All original paint with the exception of left front fender. Car is unique not only because it is unrestored but it also has the optional 430 engine of which only 5000 1960 Birds are equiped with.
  10. Undercoating can be on the entire chassis and was sometimes applied at the factory. My real 1:1 car is a Coronet R/T, 1970 sold new in Texas, but the build sheet calls out a "Sound deadening"option. I believe that was undercoating on the entire underside of the car. Usual restored, or over retored depending on how much paint you like, is the gray primer with oversprayed color.
  11. There was a 1/16 Charger that was based on the 73-74 Cahrger body, I think that was the Street Charger that may be released?
