  1. I certainly did not mean to sound like I was whining just by saying I did not find the kit list ineteresting. Two years ago I built a 49 Merc for this contest in a street rod look, not my usual and was out of my comfort zone, but at least it peaked my interest, was a new kit, and I tried it. I can see someone's point about the mass appeal to these kits to your Wally World and KMarts. I can also see not being able to just say all kits to please everyone, but you just spent money on all new tooling 50 Olds, 57 Ford, and a 62 Vette, I think adding any one of those kits would have given more options to the contest and promoted some fo their new products.
  2. Awesome job! Looks really nice. What paint did you use, I really want to know the clear you used.
  3. I think the list of elegible kits is not that interesting. I may try and build one of the trucks. Anyone else have an opinion on all auto kits being modern muscle?
  4. I any one wants to trade, and is not afraid, and I mean afraid of some not so great resin kits, I have two I would trade. The orange colored one is the monsters in motion one, the off white one is an ebay purchase from someone in CA that I think copied the monsters in motion one. Both are from first movie. Would trade for regular kits, maybe 2 for each one.
  5. Tom, I am disappointed. That is what you get for always putting together those Merc and Ford kits that always fit together nicely. I was counting on you. I only know of 3 finished Gremlins from the club so far. We need more!
  6. I do both, collect some and build. There are some kits I have bought just to collect. Usually I can find newer issue kits or rebuildable lesser dollar kits of the same item. My real car is a 1960 Thunderbird and I collect literature, promos and kits of the car. I have found an original hardtop and convertible first issue AMT 3 n 1 kits that I doubt I will ever build, but display with other collectibles. I have found built ups of the same kits for less money that I will try and build someday.
  7. Looks good Tom. See you at the meeting tomorrow. I got my Hudson done for same kit night.
  8. Looks cool!
  9. Finished with the battery and the mirrors. Mirrors from the 68 Revell Corvette, the custom ones. I added the last couple of pictures after my first post.
  10. Putting some finishing touches on my Gremlin for the club display at the Buckeye Classic. Nice to only have a couple of more things to do so I am done early for the next March show. I know this is the 3rd one so far from our club done, hoepfully we will get a few more by March. In case attachments do not work use link: http://public.fotki.com/Kevin60brd/76-gremlin/
  11. Here is my attempt at Fotki. Let me know if it works for everyone that looks. And a "Great Show" to everyone who put on the Detroit NNL. http://public.fotki.com/Kevin60brd/detroit-nnl-112012/
  12. I took pictures and will have at our meeting Tuesday. Will try and post tomorrow when I get home and if I cannot, I will burn a CD and you can post them Tom.
  13. I will be there. Are you going to have more of the Oldsmobile colors like you had in Toledo?
  14. If not selling them through a dealer, where do you get the car fixed at? Not that I want one, but buyin something on line for almost anythign is risky enough, not sure where these will be ordered and delivered from. I gue
  15. I am just south of Cleveland, OH and have been without power since 1130P last night. One good sized pine was uprooted and fell over into my neighbor's yard so will need the chain saw later. Did not hit either house so no damage.
  16. He may already know about this, but if he is not too far from Columbus, OH and the weekend after Thanksgiving there is one of the largest all Ford swap meets at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. It is almot all Mustang parts so he could probably see a lot of the parts before he buys or even have one of the vendors deliver stuff there to save shipping. www.fallsuperswap.com
  17. I want to thank the guys who put the show on! Great show! I had a lot of fun and brought home some more kits to add to the stack of ones I hope to build some day! NCAM, North Coast Auto Modelers had 8 memebers there this year, we witll try and get a few more next year. Maybe Tom Kren won't be camping!
  18. I have found that the high gloss enamal will yellow wjite paint, so I am not sure how close you want the ivory to look, it may darken up a bit if you choose that. Not sure what to recommend.
  19. Just looking for a what weekend the Detroit NNL will be on if it is on at all?
  20. Tom, what did you use for clear? Is it the Lonewolf method or something else?
  21. Nice Dart. Here is a video of my Coronet. Yes it has some oil leaks. I did pay an engine guy to build most of the motor, but I put it in and did all fo the rest of the mechanicals. I have built an engine or two before. THis one having the 'professional' build still leaks around the oil pan. I was not pressured into showing off the car for Youtube, I entered a burn out contest. Yes I do put my foot in it. It is not a trailer queen. No it is not perfect and will never be on the cover of anything.
  22. Part of what you see might be the refalection of something from the concrete. In looking at the inside spread I am not sure it is for sure a leak. Might it be a leak, sure, if you are going to use chrome parts like oil pans, timing chain covers, and such, you usually seem to get leaks.
  23. I cannot tell you about the motorcycles, but the cars stink. The Daytona is off on items ike the fender scoops not mounted in correct location and the GTO does not build up very well. For the money they charge for these, I was thinking I would get a nice easy build withouth having to paint, and I found the kit disappointing. Never finshed the GTO and sold the Daytona.
  24. Checked out Model Cave tonight. Very cool shop. Nice selection, everything from some Jimmy Flintstone resins, older issue kits, new issue kits, and some oddball paints. Has a great selection of the Alclad line. Very nice owners. Great place to stop at and will repeat visit any time I travel up this way to see what they have. Prices are all reasonable, not baragin, but not full retail either. Some of the older kits were a little pricey. No real old, old collectible kits like Johans or old 3n1 kits, but issues from 15-20 years ago for sure. Some unique pieces. Had a Lil' Coffin kit with skeleton, still factory sealed for 39.99, plus he takes 10% off of that. Almost bought that, but picked up a Tamiya Porsche and some Detroit resin guys pre wired distirbutors.
  25. The fender tag screws are correct, only the VIN tag on the dash is riveted on with special rivets. Color is correct. It only has the R/T stripe, other R/T parts like the side scoops are missing. Cool car and original purple is cool. Charger 500 for 1970 was not much more than a trim option, fancier door panels, some badges, no special rear window or collectability.
