I use the same LHS and the owner does not charge full retail for the kits. Hudsons and the latest 300's were around the 24 dollar mark. I try to buy at least some of the kits there to keep him going. Sometimes he does have a higher price than a kit at a show and if it is more than $5 I may wait for a show. He also works with our club and if we order a case of kits he will usually give us the equivalent of a show price. Hudson convertibles were $21 each, Hemi Darts we got for $18. I also buy my supplies there as well. He keeps his inventory very small, but is I know a new kit is out or I need something he orders it in within a week and luckily he is only a mile or two form the house so it is not too much trouble to stop back up the next week. I will stop at Hobby Lobby and Michaels when there are 40 and 50% off coupons, but the selection is usually limited, although every now and then you find something that is worth it.

This is from Cadilac, MI, just north of Grand Rapids. I was there fro a Vintage Thunderbird Club regional meet in 1998. This is my car and is my favorite picture if it. The owner's sister took pictures at night, her kids would wet the ground. I visited this place in 2005 while on a business trip, but not sure if it is still there now.

I thought this looked like a cool idea and tried building one. The #4-40 Nylon lock nuts I got slide right through the 3/8 in tube. The Evergreen [ackage I got from the LHS is Item #232 and the lock nuts are DU-BRO Cat No. 170, matches picture in article on the lock nuts. The lock nuts are too big for the 1/4 inch tube so I did not read instructions wrong and select wrong tube. Is there a 3/8 inner diameter tube that I missed on the rack?

handy firing order chart
KevinMoparFord replied to kruleworld's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
One of the rotations of the Mopar engines are wrong. Big block distributors rotate counter clockwise, hemi's too. Small clocks rotate clockwise. -

I sprayed it over Tamiya Gray primer and the car came out silver. Was too nice to change it so I just went with it. I will try and add picture later. -

Issue #165 arrived..
KevinMoparFord replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I upgraded my subscription of Mopar Collector's Guide to the 'premium' level, that has it in a bag for delivery to my house. That stopped the torn covers and also the delivery now gets to my house within the same time frame that it arrives at my brother's house. Seems the plastic bag stopped it from getting passed around the post office. Now I only subsribe to magazines that give me a big discount to do so, otherwise I would rather get them at the store, luckily I have that option. Ever since Hemming's Muscle stopped placing their magazine in a bag the delivery time has increased by about 1 week and luckily only 2 times a year or so I need to request a new issue due to damage. -
What would be better?

I think the 69 and 68 kits have the gas cap as a chrome piece so you could probably drill it out of the resin body and just add the chrom one from the donor kit. -

Airbrush For Beginner
KevinMoparFord replied to Big Daddy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
See if you have a Hobby Lobby near you, they carry the Pasche and Iawata, sometimes they have 30% of all airbrushes and at leat right now there is an on line coupon for 40% of an 1 item so that prices will be a lot lower than what you listed. -
Mad Max Interceptor

I Have the Cavalier kit from Australia and I find that one is a nicely done resin although i have not built it. The one I pictured above is a garage copy of the Monsters in Motion one I think, comes with a motor and the figure, but it is not for the faint of hart to build! I would gladly trade it off for a couple of kits or anything around $50 in value of kits if anyone wanted it. -

I will try and get a picture of the parts and post. Here is a shot of the entire resin kit. Having trouble adding pictures. Email me at kevin60brd@aol.com and I can send pictures to you and if you are good at posting then you can post them. -

Not sure who did the resin conversion, I have one and the address in the box is from Ardmore, TN, no name. I did get it off of Ebay years ago, and I have the street address if you want to try a long shot at mailing the person to see if they stilllive there, date on the stamp is June 2004, I too have had the Aoshima kit and these parts for a long time. The conversion kit has the front valance, a bucket seat, looks like a back seat, a couple of spoilers and the decklid. I think it was around $15, but not sure. I do have a garage resin cast body of the Monsters in motion resin kit that I would gladly trade, it is rough and I can send pictures if anyone wants. -
Glad I did not make the trip from Cleveland to Coldwater, MI last night! Saw the forecast getting worse, cancelled my hotel and told work we could do everything over a conference call. Glad this weather did not hit for the NNL!

Anyone having problems with USPS?
KevinMoparFord replied to Kaleb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They switched our postal route and now my mail does not get here until after 6 PM. Packages are deleivered the last possible day they can. I now only sub subscribe to car magazines that will be delivered in plastic otherwise the same issue that is delivered to my brother who lives in basically the same area will get to me 2 weeks later and usually after I could buy it on the newstand. Covers have been ripped apart like they have been passed around the Post Office before out to deliver for me. My Mopar collector's Guide I paid extra to have the magazine shipped in a plastic bag, first issue I got in the plastic the bag was cut and you could tell the magazine had been gone through. Had to call the post office and complain. I really want to stay positive about the postal service, but it gets tougher every shipment or dealing with them. -

Spray white wall tyres
KevinMoparFord replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I am sure there are better ways, but here is what I did n a 1/16 scale 57 Bird kit. I used press and seal saran wrap as a masking. I then bought a can of aerosol vinyl dye at autzone and sprayed on the whote walls. Any bleed under te wrap I used and x-acto and just cut a line around what I wanted and scraped off what I did not wnat. Worked well and I could stil see the molded in Firestone detals on the old AMT kit tires.
