  1. Hey Gramps, thanx for directing me to the diorama forum so's I could see yer place . Yer a real artist, by gum. I'm always wishing we could shrink ourselves down to 1/25 scale so's we could drive these here models we build, and now I wouldn't mind bein shrunked down so's I could 'live' in yer gas station . Probly a much better place than this old world . love to hear that scratchbuilt compressor 'putt putting' too I think it's appropriate that I sign off this here thread with I be ######'n
  2. Gramps! I'm in love with your 36 custom! How'd you stuff all them ponys under that hood?! Any chance we can see more of that diorama it's sitting on? That's some real nice archeteckture (or however it's spelled) And nice collection (psssssst George,.... wanna do a road trip to Gramps place and 'help' him out with that collection? I really like that 58Chivvy back in the) ...ah....., yeah Gramps, really nice collection. I really like that 58 Chevy you got there. Yes sir, that's one really nice 58.....(what's that, George?...........ok,yeah, sounds good! I'm in southwestern Pa and you can either pickem me up on your way or I can just meet you there-----oooooops ) So....ah........Gramps, how long did it take you to build up that collection? Great work, thanx for letting me jerk yer chain a bit . ######'n

  7. Help! Everywhere I go I see opportunities to make some kinda 'model' hot rod! I spent almost 2 hours drooling over the wheels & tires on all the toys at Dollar General yesterday--some of 'em look purty darn good, especially for the money. Finally found my way outa the Generals place and started cruisin' the GOODWILL store-- -- Found this VW type open van for one o' them bratty li'l dolls and this really cool tub with lotion and a blue ducky in it. (seriously, it was a blue duck that floats & squeeks). Man, these things just spoke to me. ............ So I ripped open the plastics on my brandy new BIG T and did some mocking up.......... I gotsa go start buildin' frames an @ Later, ######'n

    Hubcap art

Here's a watercolor I did for a show last year. Always looking for new ways to 'frame' my art, I just hot glued it to an old 'Odsmobubble' hubcap. What yer seein' here is a photo of it that has been adjusted a bit in 'Photo Explosion' a softie by 'Nova Development'. I cranked up the saturation a bit to intensify the colors a bit. I adjusted the brightness, contrast, and gamma (midtones?) then applied an 'oil painting' filter to give a little more body to the black lines. Once ######'n was happy widdat, I pasted it on a background with a red to yellow gradient, and then applied the text to which I applied the 'fire' effect. Learned that I gotta copy the initial text, coz in applying the 'fire' effect the text body color goes away, so when I copied the original text I could then 'paste' it back in the 'fired' up text. I gotta start building these things !! Later, ######'n
  9. Hey Mark, as you can see, everbody be different. I've tried doing the tangent thingee that Coopdad mentioned from Illustrator and never could get the hang of it. As he said, it takes a lot of practise, and that applies to whatever you get. Some peeps can get awesome results with simpler softies--it aint the PS, or Corel, or Illustrator---it's the artist. A lot of the art starts the traditional way, on paper and then is scanned into your computer and then you apply the magic wand to it. True, art can be totally created in the software, but again, only if the artist has the ability. I have used a decent beginner software called 'Photo Explosion' made by "Nova Development" which is a very scaled down version of PS. I just got the version 3 from Staples for $50-- after using the vesion 1 for years. Probably a good place to start instead of dropping big bucks and getting frustrated and possibly losing interest. Whatever you get, like Coopdad said about Illustrator, it's gonna take practise, lots of practise before it's second nature to you, just like using your pen or pencil. I'm hoping to get one of the WACOMs one day, and I have done a bit of what you're doing here, asking others, but I know from experience to start small. Good luck in your search and deciding--maybe soon we'll see some of your computer art here---AUTO ART ---not Hollywood starlets, Mr Pristovnik That better be a fender she's got her hand on --maybe she's bemoaning the loss of her radio antenna on her Corvette? Just kidding, Harry, nice representation of what can be done. Later, ######'n

ITS A CADDYMINO Man, this forum just wouldn't be the same without you Kevin That's a cool concept. I been trying to figure out how to make my Caddyup--in 125 or to scratchbuild it biggiesize, like 1/8. It's gonna be a 59r with a duallie rearend. Just dont know if I should put 4 fins on it or just 2 . Long time ago I saw a guy had a El Camino with a Monte Carlo roof tacked on the bed--was at a flea market & I didn't get to talk at the guy to ask if'n it was a 'Monte Camino' or an 'El Carlo'. Can't wait to see yours with wheelsntires. Later, ######'n

    49 Ford

thanx a lot Mike! now I gotta build a shoebox! That is sweeet! I'm out on the western edge of Pa, near Butler, and I've been checkin' up on yer club out there. I gotta see bout gettin out there to see this here sweet green 49r in person! Looking forward to seeing it come together here in the time being.
  14. Great tutorial Bernard. Thanx. Just got me a '51 Chevy, (and a '34 Ford, a '32 Phaeton, a '28 Lincoln, & a '65 Pony-ack ) and it occurred to me, as I studied the instructions whilst on the throne, that it would be a purty good idea to build up the frame and wheels, if only temporary, so as to help with the body fittings. I'm digging the imagining that I'm working on a 1;1 and try to work the model the same way. Looks & sounds like you'd build some kool 1:1s. Spent some time in 'Rants & Raves' and lotsa dudes are dissin' Boyd Coddington, so anytime you wanna start buildin' them 1:1 wonder rods... Later, ######'n
  15. Mike, my man!! Finally! a view of the front end! Those headlites are tooooooooo much! Can't wait to see it 'under glass'! Take your time, but HURRY UP !! Later, ######'n
  16. hey GTO Guy! welcome to the forum! I imagine you've already seen some of the artwork here. You call this Pony-ack a 'doodle' ?? Man, that should be matted & framed! Love the perspective on it. Let us see some more !!! Later, ######'n
  17. after breathing enuff sawdust, I was enlightened as to a clearer vision of this here project. 'Twill now be the private car of the owner of "Granny's Trannys". Love making working front ends in wood. Maybe someday I'll make a more realistic version for now, I be ######'n
  18. I'm with George, Kevin but so cool nevertheless. Congratz on th' ink!!
  19. hey Guyz, I didn't mean to start any controversy with my comment about them rear fenders. I believe that kinda stuff went on in them good old 'Happy Days' -- andyhowz, nice seeing the pix from the past, Raul, and Bernard. So cool how you built it up from the photograph (what did the kid do to his girlfriend? ) "trouble is we can't reproduce the sound of the car in our builds – you know, that low lumpy idle at the light, all the little rattling mechanical noises of the ancillaries turning over, and then the throaty roar of lightly muffled pipes as the little coupe pulls briskly away from the stoplight with a crisp chirp of the rear tires! That's what gits the girlz...every time!" You OK, Bernard? Hey, I do the same thing, get my imagination going! and now specially after checkin out your '34 "Lady Luck" Ratrod, Don, I'm gonna hafta get me a '34, and do something similar (and I aint sayin nuthin about f**ders ). Love to see you drive that '34 now, with the gas prices the way they are !! btw, Raul! where you been hiding that (ahem) very full fendered pu? tha's so sweet I'm getting cavities as I look at it! 1932 Ford

Luis, yeah, my condolences too, but now NEW models! to post, and like Marcos says, this forum is the best!! I remember working at the good old gas stations, putting on tires, and how some of the people would put the whites in. Didn't understand that at the time, but......... Great little detail, that, and so cool how it shows so much on your nicely done 32. Love them blue plug wires, btw, too Keep 'em coming! Later, ######'n
  21. Hey Gents, thanx for the kind words and encouragemints Lookin forward to them times with the MurkyPanel, but my real passion is the scratchin'. The scratchy finky rod started out as a mucho more simpler build than it seems to be morphing into , but I'm diggin' it! Not sure yet if'n it's gonna have a 'driver', and it may be a 'little old lady' driver at that, but I can always make it so's the driver can be yanked . Thanx fer likin' the 49r and fer encouraging me to see it thru at this wee scale .............hey! I'm a scratcher! no reason I can't build a big 4Niner in say-- 1:8 scale?-- whoa, hafta reinforce the floors for dat! Later, ######'n
  22. Greetings comrades, since I discovered this here forum, and specially them 'BIG BOYZ', and going totally outa my gourd seeing all the incrediburgable models built by all ya'll, I just keep starting more and more projex--I didn't think I'd be goin back to 1/25, but I found a 49Murky I had stashed and couldn't control myself. Went shopping one day and found an Allison engine, something I wanted all my childhood, but never got. Then I found a 32 Ford coupe! and now I'm wanting a 34--real bad. And to top it all off, I wanta do artwork of these here models, so I get 'em mocked up, shoot pix, and start drawing. Part of the process, but it sure do delay the finish. Hey! I aint complaining just trying to get my butt back to the w'bench. Later all, happy building
  23. Ggrrrrrrrrrrr.........
  24. Hey Bernard, Looks like mission accomplished. I keep seeing these 34s I'm gonna have to build one or 6 Very groovy build, but.............. If this was yer 1:1 and we were hangin/cruisin together, I'd be asking, "What's up with them rear fenders?" Kudos to you for doin the old school thing, when guys were tryin different things. Yep, if'n it were me I'd a done the rears different (not sure how) but........Man I sure wish we could enlarge these to 1:1 or shrink us down to 1:25 and drive these suckers!! Love the top photo--what them cute girlz see when they be crossing the street while you're sitting at the red light Later, ######'n
  25. Holy Moly, John! I don't know if I could handle seeing your 'best'. Dude!!! this is one excellent build!! I hope to build at this level when I grow up--if I ever do. Thanx for the tip about the plug wires--ya think that would pass as the braided fuel lines? ######'n
