Nice lookin fittyseven Doodz - a smoothie ! Really like the look of that white primer too, might hafta use that as a 'finish' coat on one of my future builds. Just hafta figger out what would look good that kinda white. Like yer choice of silver too, gonna be nice lookin with the chrome. -

Hey Doodz, welcome! Good place to start postin, and 2 fine lookin rides. That 50 looks like a real comfy cruisin machine, even with them wheels. I'm a dyed in da wool Cragar S/S man, aint crazy bout the 'big' wheels, but.......still, I could dig cruisin in this convert. That interior looks so inviting. Nice roadster too. Love this picture! Why's it up on them sockets or whatever them are ? Love to see it settin on the ground. Really nice, just black & chrome. Lookin forward to seein mo yo stuffs

Man, Gramps, you think doin 12 hinges fer George's doors is monotonous? try scribin 1200 seement blox somtime - I'm gonna have me a Popeye right arm by time I get CBs walls done As fer the pop machine, I'm thinkin the old style what had the door ya opened with all the bottles layin flat. Hope to find some pix of one and I'll build it. Hopefuely CBs won't get no bad boys stealin pop outa my machine like I used to do when I was a kid. Laundrymat on my paper route had one of these kinda pop-achines. Figgered out that ya did'nt need no money to get pop outa them machines, just a bottle opener and a cup coz the door opened whether ya put any quarters in or not . Since I'ma good boy now , I cant go into details as to what ya do with the opener an the cup

tryin to come up with a do-able, bewievable bwock wall fo CBs Autr Body. this is lightweight poster board scribed with ball point pen then black acrylic paint sponged on for some texture, then lighter acrylic paint drybrushed on. Mortar lines then gone over first with the ball point pen -naah, so then colored pencil which works mucho better. If'n I had the right color it woulda been most excellent. Anyhow, got that part down, then add some white chalk (pastel) scraped over top of the 'blocks' lightly. This lightweight poster board will be pasted to the rigid foam insulation board which is making up the structure -(more wip pix in my fotki: ) rat's eye view of CBs Auto Body ratty block wall work & a couple ratty GMs

well George, unless dat Hemi in ol High & Mighty was 'chopped', don't be sendin it to me! I be sharpening up my saws & makin sure I gots lots of gas & oxy for the body. Hey Florian, best get that Hemi off'n George, 'fore it gets hid behind all that junk in his gay-rage! Thanks, George! We sure do appreciate all the help we're gettin. Hope we do ol High & Mighty up proud. She's still runnin btw. -
real nice lookin truck Neal. Love the paint - colors and all. How is the fingernalil polish fer painting, any problems?
-
tha's some real nice paint Gramps, that metallick turquoise. Doubt if'n that was a Ford color back then, but it shoulda been. Seems to go with that style. Bout that wip Gramps--yer messin wit dem colors again Gramps! Don't be mixin them reds & whites!! You know what'll happpen ifn'n ya do! Nice wip - always nice to see a custom in the makin, long as it aint a Coddington

yes master.......I will chop correctly master........I always listen to my master......yes master Way to go Florian! Awesome find! I know you be worried bout ol High & Mighty! That's just like havin the Chilton book on the fender! -
Nice post, John, all around. I love seeing these old glue bombs - first as they were, but then how they're made better. Cool idea and kinda 1:1 replacing the quarters. Looks good just as it is right now with the blue. I do got one question tho, and it might be coz I drank probly more'n my limit of coffee already, but....... how do you keep that Ford floatin in midair like dat? don't it wanta move away from ya when you go to work on it? just had to say sumpin' bout the pics--really cool, it looks like it's floatin in midair

Oh wow Dave, so yer Plymouth is tubbed? room for BIG meats? Wow! I soooooo wanta see that! specially from the rear . As fer the paintin, I was thinkin flames like what Gramps has on his avatar gonna hafta investigate more on H&M's site, coz since you say the fenders are the same, and I noticed on your 1:1, the distance tween the leading edge of the rear fender and back edge of the door is way more than what's showin on ol blue. I'm thinkin that when they chopped it they musta cut the whole back end off and moved it forward mebbe 4-6 inches -

Hey Dave, yer Plymouth is lookin nice. Whatter yer plans for it? Ever since Florian showed me this I thought the 49/50 Plymouth would make a cool street rod. If you run with the full discs, mebbe Gramps will paint it for ya! I was doin some compu-surgery on the pic of the resin body of the 50 sedan that Florian sent me. Like you said Dave, there're some big differences, but I think it could be done. Thanks for pointing out that the H&M had a bit of a chop job, easier to see that with your pic. Seems the rear fender is much bigger (huge) than what's showin on the 50 sedan. Thanks for the pics and the help. Florian has been bustin his butt lookin and findin all kindsa leads and ifno. Thanks to all yinz guys for helpin -
Most excellent Gramps! Love how ya even got some settling there around the mandoor. Don't know what ya did to get that overall 'old grungy' look, but it looks REAL like George said. Them hinges look awful --I mean awfully good . Any chance of seein wip pics of them? It's no wondr yer feelin weird inside George! Gramps done zinged ya good just tellin the trut bout yer wifey gluin it togetter for ya! You bettr be nice to her! Chain link windows? Can't wait to see how ya finish it! Ya know, ya gotta have a gay-rage warming party, I gots some junk I can bring for ya. Nice that you wish yer Pop coulda seen it.

Hey George, I do gots the pop mawchine planned for it. you wanna 1/25, 1/24, 1/18, or a 1:1 cherry coke?
-
as usual, I got inspired by all the other great stuff I been seein on all these threads and just had to make my own dio. Here's where its at right now. Using 1/2" rigid foam insulation board that'll be covered with thin posterboard 'cement blox' and 'metal panels'. The base is 27"x41". A big thanx goes out to Gramps for helping me figger out the figgerin out . I'm basing it on my neighbor's grandpap's old gas station that's just down the road from me. He used to sell gas, and Fords! there while I was growin up, and my parents bought me my first car from him when I was 15. Yep, for $75, I got me a 1957 4dr 3 on the tree straight 6 turquoise Chevy. Hmmmmmmmm.....guess I'll hafta stick that in here somewheres for more wip pix, here's the clink to my fotki http://public.fotki.com/V866/cbs-auto-body-diorama/

makin a little more progress on my rat - I mean, my primerliner, my 51Fleetliner. Had to do some bodywork thanx to eagle eye George who scoped my bad all the way from Deetroit! Good thing I started 'CBs Auto Body' diorama so's I could take care of it. While sloppin paint all ove the tub, I noticed what Deetroit George also pointed out from his memories of his Dad's fittyone, that it had the 'optional' turn signal package, a ruffly 3"x3" box strapped to the steery column. Dang! my fittyone gots one too! and to think I'm makin it a rust bucket aint a real happy ######'n rat now , coz it would seem I can only post one pic ata time off'n my fotki, so's here the clink to some other ratty pics of this here primerliner http://public.fotki.com/V866/ratgetsrusty/

Nice start on this, yer a brave man callin an Edsel a 'beauty' , but that's what's so cool bout this here hobby, we can make anything beautiful. can't wait to see it come together as you've planned. Eyeballed your 50 convert as well. Gonna be a sweet pair! Lookin forward to seein them both
-
That paint scheme sounds like a winner, Robert! Don't be makin it tooooooo pretty We won't know whether to lookit the truck or the gasser I just got a 66 Merky Marky and I'm gonna try some of that DupliColor too. From what I've read on another thread, maybe 'General' (someone was askin about painting) and the majority of guys were sayin they use DupliColor
-
You sure know how to keep a guy in suspense Robert! We wanna see the body! We wanna see the body! Engine and chassis are lookin bad! and that's a good bad! love them red steelies. Anything special planned for the 50? thans for the hookup, btw

Gramps is right Clay, the dio can be addictive, and good. Specially when yer workbench looks like yours.........NORMAL, like all the rest of us's workbenchs. But the cool thing bout the dio, and it aint gotta be hugeass like mine,(Gramps tried to warn me) just a place to show off the model. You'll find ya want to work on the dio, and then you'll wanta work on the model - so you can put the model on the dio!! and on and on,

George! Kevin aint nutty! He's one of us! it's all them other peeps out there what are NUTZ! Hope you can keep a straight face Kevin! Keep 'em guessing - and enjoy the old girl. You gotta show us a pic when you load up the rear full of model kits, from BigLots -
'Honey Doo' done did dat 5 years ago with 2 of the local police officers. Tha's how I wound up back in the big ol empty house I growed up in, (well, pysically growed up in anywho ) Been a ruff time, but friends like you & Gramps, & Florian, and the Good Lord, have got me almost sane now and I guess since I'm almost ok, I can handle a move. My mom is gonna sell the place and me & my rats gotta find a new hole to crawl into. I do like your suggestion bout makin the doors bigger. You sound like a model railroader. I am gonna add something to the main building but I doubt it'll be the big addition, maybe a paint booth? Nice thing bout the diorama is it's a nice looonnnngggg work in progress.
-
Ya know, I think it's time you two come clean - Gramps......George....... come on now, you guys were brothers growed up together - right?! This is just too weird. Yer makin it just like George remembers it, Gramps! and it is lookin goooood! You nailed it Gramps, with that paint job. and that roof looks ###### fine too, at least on my computer!
-
well fellers, hope yer havin fun with yer Deetroyt alley gayrage, coz I sure as.. uh,--shoes!--am havin fun with my gayrage/body shop. Wowser! good thing I gots the obsessive compulzive dizodor! coz that's purty much how I gets anyting doned. Yeah, George, I figgered I'd best build up the main building to see how much real estate I'm gonna need, coz Gramps tole me it was gonna be one big sumbitch - and darntootin if'n he waren't right! Guess you speak from experience Gramps, and us young punks oughta listen -the first time! Wellsir, I think I'ma gonna hafta take up stakes and move this here boy. Aint nuff room in these here parts o Deetroyt fer yer alley gayrage & my body shop. I'm plannin on using the homosote (dont say a freakin word! ) as a base for my gay--..I mean body shop, and I'm gonna mount it on a roll around cabinet, even if'n I gots to make one. I'll be able to store my 125 kits underneath and move it around for photo shoots. Just before I made that decide, I figgered I'd best measure it coz I'm gonna hafta move at some point and sure would be nice if'n it'll fit thru a door . The base measures 27"x41". Lotsa room for lotsa 125s. Gots tons of pix so far. Gotta load em up and start my own dio-thread. See yinzes there
