    Dirk's Art

Nice work Darrell, I agree with Raul, go for some formal drawing classes--freak as many peeps as you can! not just us. Looks like you got it happening mucho better on the computer as for finished images. like with the 'wowser' Woody here. Love to see these ones built up, specially the wedgy vicky. I took the liberty of adjusting them to lessen the notebook paper lines. Get a decent sketchbook with no lines in it, and take it with you wherever you go! and keep drawing! I'd also love to see this here big bad V8 built! Might even have to build it myself, unless the 'old-hermit' beats me to it, but he just builds 6's--some awesome 6's.

    55 Chevy

Awesomely groovy 55 there, George. I just love reflections done in coloured pencils. Looks like it's a metalflake job on the 1:1? Love the details--like the yellow car on the front bumper corner.

    generic car

Nice car Luis! Almost looks like a melting icecube sliding Friend of mine was just telling me about the Wacom last nite. Sounds awesome, and looks to me like you can get some kool effects with it. Something else to put on the shopping list!
  5. Thanx guys. finally got me an Allison, and it's all chrome--for now, anyways. Hopefuelly while I'm painting it, I'll figure out what to put it in! Nice truck, Kenny. ######'n

  7. Can't remember if it was.................uh, where was I?.......hmmm..........Oh Yeah! is it shaving cream that you soak chrome plated parts in, to get the chrome off? I haven't tried it yet, but I seem to remember that's what we did years (centuries) ago. I saw where someone used brake fluid to strip the paint off a Ferrari. Oh well, thanx for..........uh.............
  8. Nice job Mark! I always loved those CanAms too. I've seen your other art and I dig it. I do color pencils and watercolors too. I prefer them because of the blending of colors that you can do with them. The colored pencils are a lot more convienent than the watercolors, and they're also nice for doing details on top of the watercolors too. Nice job of the white on white. Glad you're gettin' yer mojo back Keep 'em coming! ######'n

  14. Man, I'm gonna hafta make a clone of meself and put him to work doin laundry, dishes, an @, so's I can have the time to apply all the cool trix I'm learning here ! Matt, Mr. O, thanx for bringing this up and thanx to you too, Yad', for the 'infomercial' I was planning on running solid disc type wheels, or Buggati type spokes on my BIGGIE 8, but looks like I can make some real live 'wire' wheels. Hope it works for you Matt. I'm thinking some kinda solid wire, not too thick tho' so it can wrap around the pegs and the hub spindle. Thank God we're workin in BIG scale!! Thanx again guys. Diecast Derby Pix

Here's some artwork I did for an event at the art gallery I volunteer at. Last few years they've had events there (it used to be a big old furniture store) in conjunction with "First Night Out", the city's New Years Eve celebratiion. Couple years ago they had this here 'DieCast Derby'---shoulda been 'Hot Wheels Derby' coz kids of all ages could participate, just for fun, by picking their favorite Hot Wheels car from this guys massive collection and he would put their car, their buddies car, Mom's car, etc, behind the start gate and he'd get the kids all pumped, and let 'em go! Since this was in the basement of the art gallery, we needed some signs to direct peeps to it, so's I made some and here they am, starting with the first sketch pix in post below
  19. Yes Harry, I'm blessed/cursed with the artistics. I've got some pix on the Gallery, some value studies, color studies, and a final computer enhanced version of a 49 Merky that took 1st place in a show at The Art Center in Butler, Pa near where I live. Show was the first "Painted Hog" motorcycle, hot rod, tattoo, pin-up art show we had. Just lost my co-chair of the Painted Hog committee, Vidal--34years young--massive heart attack. He was a tattoo artist and very cool. Sux. Andyhow, there's also some pix on the gallery of this 'pumpkin rat rod' I made for another show at the Art Center. I did it right after I retired--basically transferred myself from working 60 hours a week at a steel mill to spending 16 hours a day for 2 weeks obsessively creating this here totally scratched rod. 'Twas for the 'Art of Horror' show, and 'tis definitely evil Here be couple more shots of the BS8. Later. ######'n B if you're crappin' black, something aint right
  20. Hey Jairus, Thanx for the suggestion. I considered fiberglass, but I've never worked with it. Mayhaps it's time to do so. I'd appreciate any teaching on how to do dat--what to get, what to do next, etc. Once it gets to where I can 'work' it, I think I'll be fine. It's just getting to that point. Thanx for pointing out the advantages such as the cutting out the engine cover and the very shiny finish--coolness! alas, I may have to make another for the ratty racer look. As if I and my OCD don't have enuff to deal with, now you've got me droolin over the big 8 POWERplant which I hadn't planned on creating coz I hadn't planned on any inside stuffs. Back to the drawing bored it lookems like thanx again--life is good! ######'n (aka John Fleischman) if you're crappin' black, something aint right
  21. Howdy to all yinz Big Boyz. Nice to finally find a niche up my alley. I like total scratchbuilding and since I'm an artist as well, I can make just about any ###### thing I can think of, and the bigger the better. Here's the start of my straight 8 indy type low ridin racer. Hopin to make it just as low as I can. Got the idea to make some of these big things something like the old balsa wood airplanes with the body forms stringered together and then covered with some sort of skin. I originally planned on covering this monster with paper mache and then bondo, but I may just skin it with posterboard so I can have real live panels and seperations between them, and bondo or spackling to smooth it up. That's what's so great about the scratchin', making use of different stuffs. As pumped as I am to get the body going, I'm really looking forward to getting into the exhaust system. Sure would be nice if could make these things full size---scary to drive, but nice. I'm really liking what I'm seeing yinz guys doin. Can't remember who had the '55 Nomad drag racer, but it was awesome! if you're crappin black, something aint right

    Custom Vette

Nice work Harry! Looks like that paint job would be a delight to see, and feel, in person at a car show--unless you had one of those 'do not touch, unless you're naked' signs on it

    Evilone,

luv yer name dude. hey, nice 49r sled. sure don't look like 1/25 scale from the pix. maybe them sleds were mucho more massive then and tha's why it looks so big? checkem out my 49r in my gallery-all artwork...duh, I are a artist. tooked 1st place in the 'Painted Hog' show back in 05
